Alena Kostornaia

Alena Kostornaia and Sasha Cohen have something that cannot be taught. They don't just skate. They dance. And that requires an innate feeling for music that flows through the entire body, fingertips, and toes. Not every skater, no matter how "talented," is born with that.

Very true and it doesn’t hurt that Alena is physically stunning too.

Alena! This was just breathtaking! I was crying during her performance, it was the best that we've seen and gosh..mesmerizing! Her fire, her passion, her involvement in every single movement, the entire SP is a masterpiece, she's truly an angel on the ice and a blessing to watch [emoji173][emoji173]

This was mesmerizing, I am so happy for her and that she took over. No matter what happens in the free, she skated her absolute best here and no one can take that away 😍

Wonderful skate, although, I think she is letting her success go to her head or as the Russians say, "getting star sickness". She didn't give a shout out to "Mom" or "Pop" with her high, squeaky voice.

Truly wonderful performance today. I don't really follow juniors, but now I find one to root for!

Alena's skating is so beautiful and calming. Good luck on the free skate! :luv17:

Alena’s skate was so seamless and mesmerizing - I immediately wanted to watch it again as soon as she finished her SP!

This is the first time I’ve really watched her and am now a fan:luv17:

YES YES YES. This is the best she skated this program and I’m so happy because I think it’s unequivocally the best SP on the junior circuit (heck maybe even the senior circuit too). It was stunning from the first movement to the last and I think that step sequence was performed with much more expression and feeling than earlier in the season at Linz (where I didn’t think it could get better!). I’m so happy for her. Whatever happens in the free I’m glad she got her deserved first place in the short!

What? She adressed them, put your hands off your ears.

I still don‘t dare to believe it... haven‘t watched it yet but wow, what happened.... So, so proud of my girl. Now I‘m - ironically - even more anxious for the FS.

Come on, it's not so surprising, Alyona already outscored Sasha in SP during CoR. And I've already written that Alyona's recent performances vere very solid and stable.

Probably it isn‘t surprising. But to me it is. A lovely surprise to wake up to, obviously but I‘m just not used to seeing Alena win against Sasha, even if it‘s just the SP. Last year it was totally different after all. And I‘m always anxious for my favorites, especially when they do well in the SP. I can‘t help it. I‘m very proud of her, though. I can‘t wait to see her performance. :)
