Alena Kostornaia

I think that most people in her fanfest know better... :dev3:
Oh, yeah. I just hope she won't run into troubles or be in a "lost in translation" situation because of her chatty trolling and outgoing extrovertism. She is a perfect hooligan. :dev3: I'm sure she will make all of us blush on many occasions in future. *sigh* I'm gonna forgive her everything!

I have to say, one of the things I love the most about Alena is the fact that everyone thinks of her as an angel, but she seems to be a little devil--at least according to Daniil!

Here's an excerpt from her interview after the SP (via GoogleTranslate):

I hope our little hooligan has fun in Austria! [emoji3]

Yeah, Daniil did not believe at first they would ever be capable to make an angel out of her. But, boy, did Alyona proved him wrong. I'm telling you guys she can act anything on command and totally have you fooled. I suspect her actng range is very wide. She can pull a lot of different roles and styles. If Ted Burton thinks "Alyona is such an angel", oh well, I just hope he won't make the same mistake again. ;) Because fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Alyona can be many many different things on ice.

Well, I'm very late to the party, but congrats to Alena for getting bronze at Russian Nationals! While it is a bit painful to think that she could've won the whole thing if she hadn't stumbled in the SP, I think it's probably good that she didn't win this time. I think the careless mistake here will motivate her to work even harder for the competitions ahead. And selfishly, I really want her to win Junior Worlds (so that Lena R's record of being the only 2-time Junior world champ will still stand).

Short question... Alyona is in Austria? Since when? And what for? Holidays?

True. She is very tomboyish. Everyone thinks she is an angel and very intelligent and sophisticated lady already. And Alyona's speaking about her desire to become neurosurgeon in near future helped to form this perception of her. ;) But basically, per her own words, she just watched a lot of Grey's Anatomy with her mom. So... we dont know for sure if she def wants to quit skating at 18 yo and switch to 8 years of studying in medical school instead of FS.

I watched few Alyona's EX and youtube suggested me couple of periscopes videos with Alyona. She is a very lively, animated and def not shy girl at all. She is very chatty with her friends, and she has no problems to troll anyone older or higher than her. She does that often. Although in a very friendly manner. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5f7xKrj2MY). [emoji23] She is a such a jockster. One would even say she is a bit obnoxious at times, oh, well.. as any other average teenager in the world. :D She has a very high confidence in herself, that's for sure! She def can be a refined and elegant skating lady on command, or a sweet girl for interview if she wants to (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=an4QFbhsNjE). But, man, she is rather a cheeky individual. :) Basically, she is so random and she can be a lot of things at her will. She probably could be a good actress too. Alyona is often a very confident of herself. And she is not trying to pretend she is a quite submissive daddy's girl, she is a quite loud and happy-go-lucky kiddo. Will see what kind of personality she will become soon.

Well, it‘s great that she‘s so outgoing, confident and extroverted. That will help her a lot in the future. And the fact that Daniil didn‘t believe she could play an angel and now she‘s doing it so well, shows how good she is at acting. I think she could skate to any program and would make it great because she has the ability to feel the music, understand the story and become the character she is portraying. Even if she is a little tomboy and cheeky she can be gentle, soft Juliet and an angel that fell down from heaven. But she can also be fierce, as shown in her SP last year. She just has that talent. You can‘t learn that, you either have it or don‘t. And she does. And it will help her in the future. ;)

It's not like he "didn't believe" she could play it out. Obviously they knew she could. As she said he just was kind of amused, had fun and joked around. In a good way. Because that image/idea it's a total opposite from Alena in real life. Like some kind of prank)

Holidays, yes. She said that in her recent interview. I don't know the details. My understanding is she will be traveling with Daria Pavlyuchenko. They are old pals and both grew up in Sambo-70 at Tchaikovskaya ice rink. Watch for updates on IG, lives, posts and stories of Alyona, Daria and their families. They both are accute extroverts and both tend to overshare their private lives via social networks. :)

Great figure skating god, as an Austrian I hope they don’t try skiing. I feel like it‘s more dangerous than doing a 3Lz... yet I have never tried a 3Lz. But I’ve broken my arm while skiing so... come back in one piece, Alyona and Daria!

I know right. I broke my clavicle at Mammoth mountain ten years ago. Still snowboarding every single year. We are tracking snow forecasts and religiously going to the mountains every single big storm. Sometimes we fly to Chile or Argentina during summer to get some fresh snow there. That's how addicted I'm to fresh powder. :) As for girls, I doubt they would go skiing. Eteri definitely won't approve. While her iron regime is strong, we can be sure Alyona won't try anything stupid. ;) However there is always a possibility that they will go in secret without posting anything. We need to get some bubble wrap, pillows and duct tape and catch Alyona near a chair lift before she hits the slopes. Please, could you bubble wrap her in several layers for us?

I enjoy Alena's skating and she has been a pleasant surprise for me this season with her effortless skating and musicality, who can make even lacklustre choreography shine with interpretation skills that are beyond her age. However, at this point in time, I think she may have outgrown her coaching team. When Ted asked Eteri about her plan for her students as they mature, she indicated her approach is about looking at what her skaters can do today so that they don't have any regrets tomorrow. Her team emphasizes increasing rotations on a less than solid foundation to get results now, rather than focusing on paving careers of duration. Perhaps Alena should look elsewhere before the very important upcoming transition year in seniors, especially if she wants to have some kind of a long term plan/outlook for her competitive future. If she wants to stay in Russia, I don't think Mishin would be a good fit but perhaps she can go to Chebotareva?

:rolleye: It's so cool when you can just ignore reality and live in some imaginary world...
When you can just claim whatever you want. Why even bother to watch something... acknowledge what have improved.. and what kind of work have been done....
Some things never change, I guess....

Are you, like me, curious, how much Alyona's great artistic (and acting) skills will profit from her marvellous team's abilities to create proper program for every individual skater based on his/her strong sides? I'm really looking forward for the next season for another two programs they will create for Alyona's senior debut.

I hope they will give her Edith Piaf as Alena wanted this year. Could be stunning.

Maybe cross country skiing which is pretty safe would be okay for her. Certainly not downhill skiing.

She still would find a way to get in troubles somehow. Although fortunately ski resorts are not located in Vienna.

Oh, we won't hear the end of it. "This music is too adult for a teenager, they should know better and should talk her out" or "Did they fully understand the vulgar meaning and innuendo in this song" or "How dare Eteri and Daniil sexualize the little girls" etc. We heard a lot of those lately already. :)

Oh, she‘s in Vienna? That‘s safer then and I won‘t have to bubble wrap her in several layers... but maybe I still should... as I‘ve learned Alyona is a little devil and likes to get into trouble quite a lot.

Well, I simply don‘t like most of Edit Piaf music (not my taste) so I probably won‘t be too happy with it but Alyona is so good at acting, she can interpret anything.
