How sweet! The little Alina ones are so cute too! The artist must be a figure skating fan, or get commissions from folks who are.

Probably both. These dolls marked as "interior/play dolls", so they are also supposed to be part of an interior too. Naturally, first you buy a FS doll and then you pick furniture and wall decorations to match your favorite figure skater.

OK. Russian fans, you probably should know. Who is Olga Dmitrievna? And why Alyona stumbles when sees her? :) I can reach out to my Moscow friends to find out myself, but I hope someone here knows the answers too.

Merry Orthodox Christmas to our favorite angel-faced hooligan!

I was thinking that Alena doesn't necessarily need to play an angel or a princess-type (like Juliet) in order to showcase the beauty of her skating...She can be refined, elegant, and...evil. :dev3:

For example, she could skate to something like "Danse Macabre," which is lyrical and dark.

However, that piece is kind of a warhorse, and I have a feeling that she'd probably prefer something less well-known.

In that case, I would *LOVE* for someone to skate to the main theme of "Penny Dreadful," which I think is kind of darkly powerful and hauntingly beautiful:

Also, I think "Ondine" from Ravel's "Gaspard de la Nuit" would really suit her:

It's delicate and flowy, but with a sinister undercurrent.
Also the "ondine" from the title is a water nymph that seduces people into visiting her kingdom at the bottom of the lake, and I feel like that kind of character is a good fit for Alena! ;)

I agree. She has an intensity in her skating and the ability to stare down the judges that can be seen in Adios Noninos and the 2nd half of her SP this season. I hope her team capitalizes on this quality for at least one program next season! I’m still hoping for Aranjuez.

Oh...this could work. I doubt Daniil would do this piece justice though, I mean look at his lacklustre choreography for Anna's Rondo Capriccio, a classical masterpiece, cramming in as many random transitions as possible with little chance for her to demonstrate musicality. Hopefully if Alena does skate to this music next season, she can find an outside choreographer (maybe even a new coach by then) that understands how to best use the nuance and character of this music like how David Wilson was able to in 2008-2009 for Yuna.

I'm glad Anna and Alyona can show musicality due to smart choreography they got (as Alyona herself have said - "Daniil Marckovich has the talent from god" - and I'm quotineg her being atheist ), but for me personally Dance Macabre is not my favorite classical piece. I would like to see her skating e. g. to Concierto de Aranquez. It is work with more motives in it, about life, death, happiness and sadness that both bring to human world. With Alyona's interpretation skills it could be masterpiece. But of course, that's only subjective wish of one man, that is nothing that should decide instead of the team or Alyona herself.

Yes! See my post above :)

Aranjuez is perfect for her I think it would be a great choice for her first senior season. I think she does better with slower music as she actually has the strength, lines, and skating skills to hold her positions in very effective and impactful ways.

Well, for all it‘s worth, you will have to agree that Alena is doing a wonderful job with the choreography she‘s been given and she certainly shows musicality. And to my mind, with her, it doesn‘t even look too busy. She makes an effort to hold the moves longer. I like her current programs a lot and I think she‘s one of the skaters who can collaborate with any choreographer very well and make the programs work. Her programs last year both suited her a lot and she even was one of the few who made backloading work successfully, meaning with her you did not notice the lack of jumps in the first half in a negative way. I don‘t know. Daniil generally creeps me out a bit but he‘s doing a good enough job with Alena‘s programs to my mind. And besides Sasha‘s FS this year and the many music cuts that he thought were necessary in Alina‘s programs, I like all of the ones he made that season. Alena’s SP is a masterpiece. Sasha’s SP suits her a lot. And yes, Anna‘s FS is good, too in my eyes. I think she is showing a lot of musicality but then again that might be because she‘s just a naturally musical person. Those tend to work better with the busy team Tutberidze style.

Yes, it is easy to agree on that :agree:

I like this choice as well. The music is beautiful and I think there could be a great program made to it. But I‘m sure the team will come up with something that does her first senior season justice.

I'd actually love it if she keeps her SP (maybe add a 3A if she gets it back) and gets a new FS for her senior debut.

I'd love that too and I have the feeling it will be this way.

Of course she gets that 3A back. Her 2A has become so huge throughout the season.

Hello, this is my first post on Alena's ff as I'm new to GS and fairly new to fs. I would just like to say that I have been blown away by Alena's gorgeous artistry, musicality, and skating skills, and her technical isn't too shabby either. I was thrilled when she won the jgpf because she has maturity beyond her years and imho the fs world needs more skaters like her. I wish her luck during the rest of the season and beyond, and I hope she can deliver many wondeful performances in seasons to come.

OK, I found out from my friends who is she. Apparently this was Olga Dmitrievna Markova. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olga_Markova_(figure_skater) She is a coach and currently a tech specialist for Russia. I randomly clicked few videos of her competing in the 90s. She had a very stylish and smooth skating skills with deep edges too. Beautiful spirals.

We need more information of course, but I feel we need to thank Olga Markova, Elena Tchaikovskaya and Olga Zhgun all together for Alena's exquisite and smooth skating and elegant presentation skills. Now we need to send Japanese TV crew asap into Tchaikovskaya skate school and get interviews with these ladies about Alyona.

Nice find, nice montage and a new channel.

Hopefully, these fan videos will not be taken down by YouTube due to copyright claims.

Alena is answering questions on ask.fm :)

Someone asked her if she will forget the password to her account again
She said, "I hope not soon"
