Update it seems her LP will be her vampire program. No post yet on what the SP will be, but she edited the original post about the vampire program to say it will be her free program

Sad to hear. I don’t see twilight as a long and I was looking forward to no one ever called me that. I hope she can get a new dress for the twilight program tho.
Also, now I am wondering what the short program will be? Will she recycle from last year?

I don’t know how it’s going to translate I am having a really hard time picturing it based on the songs she’s skating to.
And for the SP I hope it’s something in the lyrical style she does best. I would like to see a new program instead of the angel program again (which I loved, but would like to see her take on something new). I am just worried about her injury recovery. Hopefully they will announce the SP soon

If we're not getting a new SP, can Alena just bring back Adios Nonino? It's so beautiful and sophisticated. I feel like I'm never going to stop talking about it at this rate [emoji28]

I wish. It is such a masterpiece. But it would have to be completely re-choreographed since it was backloaded, so I don’t think it’s likely. I would love to see her bring it back for the Olympic season. Can you imagine her maturity and interpretation in that program at age 18 when it was already top notch at 14?

It is a very beautiful piece of music. I hope we find out what actually happened - did they try to make a program and it just didn’t come together as expected? Or did they decide to focus on new elements for the new season so they are only making a new LP with the vampire theme Alena wanted and keeping the SP? I would love to know.

I love this music and it would be perfect for. But Alena doesn't want to be seen just as this beautiful skater angel. She wants to do something different a little rebellious probably and there we have the twilight music. It will work out fine because she's such a beautiful skater with great skating skills. my main hope for her is that she's healthy in her debut senior season. The rest will take care of itself.

I’m glad Aliona can have such a close friend in Daria who knows what she’s going through as a skater but isn’t a direct competitor since they are in different disciplines. And they will be at IDF together for Aliona’s first GP!

Not sure what the source is for this information though, and I guess the assignments are subject to change...
It will be good for Aliona to do some Senior B events to help raise her World standing (and hopefully her PCS too). :yes:

I saw that post about preliminary assignments but I am not sure if it’s true. I haven’t seen anything published on the ISU site, the Russian Fed site, or the websites of the host federations of those comps.
I’m sure she (and all the girls) will do at least one Challenger as a warm up event before the GPs, and the Minsk event would make sense timing wise being a couple of weeks before IDF, but no official lists have been published online as of yet. If she is still recovering from injury, I don’t think it would make sense for her to do Lombardia, one of the first events, right after test skates. Plus, Liza announced she wants to start her season there again, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Liza and Sofia there. But then again, who knows.
Hopefully we will start to learn of assignments in the coming weeks.

I think the source of this information is a tweet - the account is the same one which reported the GP assignments would be delayed, which ended up being false. Maybe these assignments are real and the account does have insider information, but I’m not sure so I’m going to wait for official confirmation before getting excited about her assignments.
