Alena Kostornaia

I was just rewatching Alena's Linz performance from last year, and I have to say, each time I watch her I am reminded of how special she is. I am so excited to see her skate again next weekend!

She and her friend Dar'ya Pavlyuchenko are both very pretty teenagers, model quality really. Every girl's fashion magazine would love their clothing begin promoted by these girls :-)
 
Leave it to Aliona to troll her teacher on national tv 😂 glad she and the girls seem to be having fun together.

Also, noticed she doesn’t seem to have grown much this summer - Sasha and Anna are almost even with Alina now, and Aliona is much shorter when they are all standing up at the end of the program. Hopefully this bodes well for her jumps and she already dealt with the biggest re-adjustments last season. I guess we will find out in just 5 days!! Can’t wait for test skates.

Speaking of test skates, anyone know when the ladies will be skating on sept 7-8? Will the broadcasts be at the same time as they were for the juniors?
 
Alyona is a straight A student? And probably in class as naughty as she can be in Khrustalniy?

One would assume at 16, Alyona's growth plates have closed. So she will not grow taller and remain short and squeaky ;-)

Hopefully there will be pre Test Skates features on her and the other Sambo-70 skaters soon, and of greater length and content of interest than what was shown today.

Well with test skates starting Saturday, I assume they will be releasing the 4A’s videos tomorrow-Friday? I would think Aliona would probably be 1st. Something like Aliona Tuesday, Anna Wednesday, Sasha Thursday and Alina Friday all leading up to the SP on Saturday? Unless they will be releasing 2x day? But did they make features on any other skaters besides the 4A and Mishin girls? Maybe there is a Zhenya one too. Either way I think (hope) that Aliona’s feature will be released tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest.

We'll have to wait and see what 1tv.ru comes up with. Today, Knowledge Day, we have seen photos with almost all skaters being welcomed back at school. Alyona attends a different school in another part of Moscow: Here is her end of year 9 school photo: https://www.instagram.com/p/BzFuYfOItvH/

That feature on the 4A was shot at a famous spot in Moscow for newly weds, the balcony/terrace in the back of the rear gardens of the Moscow University on Vorobyoviye Gory overlooking Luzhniki was made friday or saturday. 1TV has shot lots of footage during Khrustalniy summer camp at Novogorsk, and perhaps will add to that some new footage actually from Khrustalniy. But even then, #TeamTutberidzeForProgress will have kept everything under their tight control. And of course the passing away of Lyudmila Borisovna made scheduling of filming at Khrustalniy a bit difficult.

Yes, I totally love the fact that she's such a cheeky brat!! :biggrin: :rofl:

And I love the huge gap between her on-ice persona--refined, elegant "lady of blue blood"--and her real-life personality--bubbly, devilish pipsqueak! :laugh: :love:

And it seems Aliona has fans among the other skaters as well: Daniel Grassl did a Q&A over Instagram, and he replied that Aliona is his favorite female skater:

She seems not to be an expert rider yet, but clearly enjoys being with horses, the sparkle in her eyes when grooming and tackling clearly shows she adores horses.

Glad we finally got Aliona’s feature video. There was a lovely bit of choreo down the ice in the video. I wonder if it’s her choreo seq or just transitional movement. Looking forward to seeing her programs in 2 days!

Also glad to see her flip toe combo. It didn’t have the best landing but got huge height and distance as we have come to expect from Aliona.
