Alena Kostornaia

I just remembered we’ve seen Aliona training 4T (?) when she first joined Plushenko. I wonder how that’s going, or are they going to prioritize 3A for now.

i've been wondering too, there were a couple videos shared on an instagram fan page in August of her doing toe walk throughs, so she must have been doing something with a quad toe. i would rather her get her 3A back first because it gives her an edge in the short and she can still hold off the quadsters.

Aliona can make anything look graceful, even when she’s not trying. It comes naturally to her. There are some people who are just born with it.

Like Sasha Cohen's coah once said: "she is unable to get into an ugly position" :agree:

Hmm, isn't it a bit crowded on the ice (kids and stuff)?

are people gonna come at aliona every time she's on ice with kids now (on her fanfest even), like somehow she can't skate along with them... despite her explanation in the same interview that she's also skated with adults on her novice days but the difference is she was told not to interfere their way and staying safe on the boards (which is the problem aliona found in her previous team, though it's not really the main reason she left). i apologize but this post does come accross like that to me, like please leave shady comments on other forums, not here on aliona's fanfest.

this could have also been some sort of class, too. it's one thing to work on spins, edges, footwork, artistry etc in a class with others where running programs and drilling jumps is another. you need much more space and less people for the latter.

Plushenko's interview via google translate

I couldn't separate Alyona's part from Sasha's ......

“Before the test skates, two of our athletes, Sasha Trusova and Alena Kostornaya, came to the training camp in Novogorsk, to show the programs and hear the opinions of specialists,” says coach Evgeni Plushenko. - Sergei Rozanov did both programs for Sasha, I connected. We worked at a summer camp in Kislovodsk.

Work continues. Now the choreographic component with Sasha is being refined and refined by Lena Ilinykh. Dima Mikhailov helps, is engaged in sliding with the skater.
Alena Kostornaya also did the short program by Sergey Rozanov. I didn't participate. She-Lynn Bourne puts her free on Skype, remotely. It was my idea to try with She-Lynn, I immediately contacted her by phone. We have known She-Lynn for a long time, she gladly agreed. Of course, she would have come to us, staged and worked with Sasha in Moscow, but because of the pandemic it did not work out, she had to work remotely. But I think when all the restrictions are lifted, we will definitely invite She-Lynn to Moscow.
Alena's free program is still raw, so we skated only a short one at the skates. It is unrealistic to prepare and show both programs in such a short time that Alena joined us. There was little time.

Let's see what elements the girls will perform. There was no need to force events at the test runs. In the free program, Sasha plans to jump three quads so far: two sheepskin coats and a lutz. In the future, she is ready to make salchow, but she needs to take a more confident start. We train the axel in three and a half turns. This jump is already close to being completed. Sasha herself really wants to master it. We hope everything works out.

Alena is currently jumping double axel in the programs. Because, I repeat, she came not so long ago. In addition, she had an injury, there is no point in taking risks, the season is just beginning. After the skates, we will prepare a triple axel, complete an arbitrary one, enter the season.

It is clear that working with professionals like Sasha and Alena is completely different. When you train juniors, it's one thing, when you are masters, you solve serious problems with them and set serious goals, it's completely different. We train together every day. We have enough ice. Sasha trains a lot. Two of his ice training sessions for an hour and a half and additionally engaged with other groups - skating, working on sliding, rotations. The main thing is that she understands that she needs it. And, in my opinion, Sasha improved her skating skills, began to open up more in terms of choreography. Choreographer Marina Akelkina, an excellent teacher of the Bolshoi Theater, works individually with Sasha. We understand the importance and necessity of such work.

We changed Sasha's technique, entry, twisting into the jump became faster. Now these skills need to be stabilized so that everything works out at the right time. As far as I know, Sasha always worked great in training, but it was not always possible to realize this in competitions. We are trying to solve the problem, but not all at once.

It is clear that the long absence of full training due to the pandemic is taking its toll. But I want to say about Sasha: we had a good training camp in Kislovodsk, spent a month and a half in the mountains at an excellent base, where there were excellent conditions, a lot of ice. We tried to make up what we could. And, of course, the strong character of the athlete plays an important role. Sasha is a plowman. She sets herself serious goals. It really works, sometimes for wear and tear. It even has to be stopped, which is not always possible.

As for Alena, she still lacks "functional". She has not skated for a long time and is currently training to the best of her ability. Plows too. He also sets ambitious goals for himself. If this continues, we will restore the triple axel. Our task with her is a quadruple jump.

When such masters as Sasha and Alena, titled athletes, with quadruple jumps, triple axel, come to the group, then all the other guys in the school begin to work differently, to plow. The girls gave a good boost to all our guys.

The season is going to be difficult. But we will adapt to the situation in which we all find ourselves, - thinks Evgeni Plushenko.

Shady comment??? Geez! No need to be that supersensitive, even in Aliona's fanfest! Thank God, other people were able to give meaningful and proper answers... I think Aliona's controversial transfer rightfully makes us ask questions as more and more information sees the light of day about it... I've never denied my disappointment about her decision, but it doesn't mean at all that I've stopped supporting her. I'm still processing the change and would love to understand fully what made her make this very unusual move.

I mean, I thought your comment sounded passive aggressive as well, but if you say you didn't mean to then that's that. I just don't really understand what the point is of saying that in the fanfest and phrasing it the way you did when everyone knows full well that people start whole arguments based on the interview she gave (specifically that detail of sharing the rink with kids), as can be seen in the Russian ladies thread.

Passive agressive... (Sigh) I think did Aliona read her own fanfest, she would react like that :palmf: to some of your overprotecting comments...

I think Aliona pierced her tongue? Omg, this is so her! Such a rebel. :)
I know she doesn’t like being called an angel, and I think she didn’t even like her Angel program all that much, but her face and they way she moves is generally so sweet, elegant and ... angelic. And on the inside, she’s a completely different person! A little devil. Love that duality of hers.

How do you know that?

That can also be saliva that caught a little bit of light

Yeah, I think something as obvious as a tongue piercing would’ve been noticed in interviews, especially because she always puts her tongue up to the side of her top lip when listening to the questions.

Plushenko seems to have very realistic expectations for Aliona and Sasha... I’m liking him a lot. His work with Sasha shows me that he probably will be a great coach for Aliona, as Sasha improved so much over the off season even despite the pandemic. I think now that test skates are over and Aliona has essentially a full month and a half to stage her new programs and to solidify the jumps we can expect great things from her at the Russian Cup. She competes against Kamila in the 5th stage and Sasha in the 4th, correct? Interesting match ups...

If Aliona could get a quad toe by her first competition... that would be incredible. It seems that they will work on the 3A first, and if there is time then the quad though. But I think for her recovering the jump will be the difficult part, keeping it will be easy. Her 2A at test skates was lofty, it wouldn’t have surprised me if she came out the following day with a 3A.

I watched the interview over several times also in slow motion, and to me I did not see any indication of a piercing.

I hope not. Not a healthy thing to do to to have someeone whose hands have been God knows where in your mouth for an hour in the covid 19 world. Aliona though is a different kind of cat and goes to the beat of her own drum. That is admirable in some way. But couldnt she have just gotten a nose piercing? :)

There is a photo where you can see her tongue piercing
https://twitter.com/whiteligat_/status/1305948259274371072?s=20
Is that her? It doesnt look like Aliona.

The main thing is I hope Alena gets healthy soon and finds her great form.

i misunderstood then i apologize once again, we are all a bit sensitive since people goes on a witch hunt on her since her move.
To me it's pretty clear that aliona feels like her previous team ways and communications has failed her, now that she's a full-fledged adult skater she started having expectations that team couldn't meet anymore, every skater is a different person and they have their own ideals. I wish all figure skating fans understand that it is a sport where every skater compete to be the best, at the end of the day the medals and title solely belongs under their name in history.
