Still a few days to go until we get to see Aliona but my hands sweat every time I think of her debuting the revised programs at the cup final.

Well even if she's not a 100% physically or if she's not completely happy with both programs alyona has to get out there and perform. The world awaits the performances of the most beautiful figure skater in the world. Whatever happens happens hopefully she goes to worlds if she doesn't then im sure she'll perform well and set herself up for next season.

This is no I to be quite the competition even without Anna and Sasha. Get your popcorn ready!

Let's hope there are no politics involved with worlds. But the professor is about to turn 80 so Liza may get the break. Plushy will have one of his charges at worlds and obviously EG as well. There is a lot of pressure on tiny alyona I hope she comes up big..

In a recent interview her coach mentioned that Aliona is recovering from COVID-19 (I’ve seen a couple of different translations so I’m not certain if this is the correct one) and that he hopes she performs well. This sounds to me like they are basically using this competition as early preparation for next season. Some people suffer from complications after it first appears they recovered from COVID-19, and this appears to be what’s happened here. I hope Aliona is able to perform the programs without experiencing any health complications, and that she is happy with her performance. What a terrible season it’s been for her.

she looks like she has lost weight and muscle, i hope its just due to being sick and not unhealthy measures. i hope her training is going well, she seems to be in a good mood.

Interestingly, I thought she'd lost weight, but that it was more a return to form. She tends to disappear in black, compare these photos to her exhibition last season and she actually looks quite similar in the legs and arms. She does seem in good spirits, so I am excited to see what she brings to the cup final. She is not usually one to hype herself up before competitions. Maybe the Plushenko personality is getting to her

I don’t think we should speculate about her weight from a couple of photos - angles can make a huge difference and since she posted them herself I don’t think she would purposely choose unflattering angles. Although, covid can definitely have this effect on people, so I guess we will see for sure on video.

I think Wikipedia lists her as being 5' 1" tall now. She used to be like 4' 10 and a 1/2 inches tall.

Either way it's almost go time for alyona.

What I'm confused about is did she have covid symptoms or not?

This is still a golden opportunity for her to make worlds.

Thank heavens she remembers the choreo alright (though maybe a bit similar with previous one?) Sad to see no 3A which could mean that they'll prefer ET over her (still some hope for a surprise) Anyway at this point I just wish her a full recovery.

the music is a bit snoozy but her jumps are there, although not with the ease she previously had. this will come. i hope everyone remembers she is debuting a new program and is still recovering from covid, and she is still not going to be in the same shape as last season.

I actually think this free program is better than her first one!! Her step sequence looks nice as well (might be my fav one of hers ever). I just hope her stamina is good enough for this weekend. I also can’t wait to see her new dress!! Praying for the best this weekend
