I love the new music. Don‘t even know why, it just resonates with me. I just hope they‘ll add some more choreography, so far it‘s looking totally empty which is understandable but still a little worrisome. But if they do and Aliona manages to regain her old magic, it could be spectacular.

Her jumps are conflicting. On the one hand, her combos didn’t look completely UR which pleasantly surprised me considering she’s coming back from a serious illness. And the 2A is huge, of course. But then there‘s jumps like the 3Lo with an insane delayed rotation and leg wrap and that‘s just... not good. Especially if you think beyond just 3-3 and remember that, to have any chance for the OG team, she‘ll need at least the 3A...But for now; it’s just good to have her back and I‘ll try to reserve judgement until next season when she‘s hopefully recovered.

I feel like there is a lot more choreography than what we know of. In her run through she really only did the jumps and steps (and stroking through the rest). Based on how much better the step sequence is, I would think (or at least hope haha) that the overall choreography is better too. I agree with what you said at the beginning about how the music resonates with you (and for me I also really don’t know why).

I'm hoping she gets a new dress for the new program 👀
Her delayed rotation worries me a little but let's hope for the best 😇

We can just hope... coming back from serious illness can be used as an excuse but if you remember what Anna achieved as RusNats... but then of course she didn't change couches...

News clip with Aliona:

I have no idea what she's saying, but it's good to hear her voice (even if it isn't so squeaky anymore)! :biggrin:

I'm going to reserve judgement on her new LP until I see the full thing in competition with her new costume. I do like the catch-foot twizzle in the step sequence though. And most of all, I like her hair color A LOT better now. (y) (I thought she looked too pale with the bleach-blonde hair; I think a darker color provides better contrast with her fair skin and her light eyes.)

Her jumps look sharper than earlier in the season, but stamina still seems to be an issue, understandably.

I hope she can put together two performances that she is proud of, and I hope to see her huge smile in the K&C! :pray:

GO ALIONA GOOO!!! :hap10::hap10::hap10:

I’m almost never here, but I just watched her training videos and I’m kind of in love with the new program. Don’t know exactly why, I feel like it could really play to her strengths when it’s done well. She had a rough year, and even if she doesn’t get into the team now, I’d like to see her skating this clean.

I don‘t think it‘s an excuse at all. Honestly, this is Aliona‘s Fanfest so I don‘t want to extensively talk about other skaters. But what Anna did at RusNats, while displaying immense courage, was also potentially very dangerous. What if Aliona does a similar thing here and pushes herself beyond her limits, only to end up with severe complications in the future? Then she can kiss her Olympic dream goodbye once and for all. I know in Russian ladies skating you have to take your chances whenever you get them but imo, this sets a pretty harmful precedent. And Aliona has dreams beyond this sport for which she‘ll need her body at full health and strength. She cannot and should not risk it all for a Cup Final.

Now, next season, is another thing. I fully expect her to have her magic back by then because she‘ll need it if she wants to make the OG team.

Not really familiar with the rules but if she doesn't make it to WC (which I hope not), will it affect much on the olympic season? I presume that this year's WC will only decides the number of participants, and the olympic team will be decided based mostly on the performance of the next season?
If that's the case then I guess we could just wait until she's ready to come back with 3A, preferably a quad too, as long as before next season.

The story of Aliona's LP: "I am telling a story about what, in principle, is happening to me now. It's like throwing and tormenting. In the second part of the program, more calm music begins and every movement, every tightening, every hand symbolizes a touch to a certain memory and in front of the path there are these words "I know what to do next" And accordingly with full understanding and awareness of what I need to do, I move on."
