Alena Kostornaia

Aliona just can't stop dancing... (My favourite one is the third, "headbanging" video) :love2:

Aliona always stays optimistic and happy. No matter how challenging things get for her sometimes.
I always loved that about her. Even last year, she always remained positive no matter what.
I really hope to see her happy reaction after her skate again in France, like it was after SP in Skate Canada. Hopefully this time not ruined by judging.
I really wish she could take gold to hammer her chances for GPF. I would also love to see Anna continue her upward trajectory in France. Will be a tough competition to watch, just hope they both do their best and I’ll keep crossing fingers for Aliona to get back to her best shape as soon as she can.

Trouble?

Trouble?

There was a strange amount of backlash for that post. Some of her fans see it as grovelling or that she's been made to post it because she's being mistreated and I'm sure those that hate her are still giving her hate anyway.

I think it's sad that she couldn't just post a thank you message without any drama. Perhaps fans are right that she's having a tough time but I don't think they are helping by pitting her against her coaches, however good the intentions might be.

I can see she's trying and I think she's doing well but I also think team tut shouldn't be ashamed to get her a good sports psychologist if she needs one.

Trouble?

I really hope it has nothing to do with the latest DG interview...

A translation from a Russian native may help (and will be very welcome).
In general I could not understand the need to openly talk about your trainees to the press.
It surely won't help mending the relationship with the skater or solving the problem she's facing.

@patee A correlation is quite possibile.

@decafjava more than a bit if google is right. I'm prone to exclude laziness problems. I fear confidence/motivation problems "I don't believe I can so i can't force myself to go over the limit and risk to hurt myself." I general we need someone to work on her mind along with her skating, al already poiunted out by @Lzbee.
BTW involving some specialist mey be another step in making TT even better for future stars that could benefit of this approach since the beginning.

@fabienne1996 I'm pretty convinced Danil loves Aliona so it seems naive to involve press into private matters. You don't have to explain why someone does not perform: you just have to shield them kindly stating something boring and general that really means: we are happy to talk to you but there are boundaries wee will not cross.
I can write the reply to the "thanks post" question like.
"We are working togheter every day and, though it is not needed for her to thanks us in public, is it heartwarming to see her show appreciation for our work and taking responsibilities for not being 100% yet, but it's team work and we're in it togheter."
Someone accustomed to work with the press should do 3 times better than me, or should hire a PR manager.

Well assuming Google worked correctly, that interview was a bit worrying.
But to be honest ... what is really new in this interview? we know that with aliona the problem is in her head .. that training is a battle between her head and the coaches... that she has to feel motivated to work... that she's not in top shape... and that daniil isn't used to working with that kind of personality ... and that if we compare with the other athletes on the team ( anna the perfect child, sasha who loves compete), she is considered the problem ... and I think both coach and aliona must feel frustrated because so much talent and she isn't winning because of her head ... if she was in another country .. she would have time to built herself again .. but she is in russia and the clock is ticking

It is strange Team E leaves public relations to the man least gifted for it. DG is well known for his dismissive attitude which at times borders on the contemptuous.. I shake my head in disgust at times at his rhetoric but I do not believe it is personal on his part.. it is the way he communicates across the board .. he is no diplomat!! Perhaps Team E should consider hiring a decent publicist.. is that possible do you think? Let DG stick to choreography..

Na he is also a medicore choreographer.

Happiness is more important than winning.

If winning brings her happiness then I hope Aliona can drown out the noise and do what she needs to to get back to the top.

If winning no longer makes her happy then I hope she can find what does.

I also hope she has more than just her coaches as true friends.

It's likely to be related but I don't think the comment taking down is a consequence of Daniil's words.
I do believe he shouldn't speak publicly about Aliona's training problems but it's not the first time and I find a progress between his past "it's all in the head" and now, where he seems to genuinely try to find out why she can't do what they expect her to do and he doesn't stick to an easy solution. This gives me hope they will find out.
For me the following-unfollowing, the posting a message-taking it down act as a safety valves for Alyona to vent intense pressure and it's certainly a good one if her coaches don't mind.
