Thank you so much! It seems that in French both Aline and Alène (the latter very uncommon) are named after this saint Alène, hence my presumptuous assumption. We also have names derivatives, sometimes quite farther from the original name.
Regarding Alina Zagitova, I read that she said that she was named after Alina Kabaeva, who was born and raised a Muslim, though her mother was Orthodox, so I don't know if she was named Alina as short for Adelina, or as the Muslim name which seems to have two meanings : in Urdu, beautiful (definitely true); in Arabic, soft, pliable, delicate (maybe more in body than in character); Tatar is a Turkic language though, related neither to Urdu (of Vedic origin) nor to Arabic (a Semitic language). To further complicate things, during the Rig Vedic period (about -1500 to -1000) there was an Alina people, a Vedic tribe who seems to have still been there in the 7th Century of current era:

It can be all of it anyway: Muslim friends (both parents, or Arabic language ancestry) named their daughter Sophia, both for its Greek meaning (wisdom) and for its Arabic meaning (purity).
