couldn't imagine a worst case scenario for her. this poor girl cannot catch a break, its just been nonstop for over 2 years. i'm devastated for her and i sincerely hope this is not career ending.

i hope she has a speedy recovery and takes her time coming back to training so she doesn't reinjure herself and builds her strength back up. this likely means she is out this whole season anyway but i really don't want her to push it. this is not an olympic season and Russia can't compete internationally, it's not worth it.

I'd be astonished if anyone can return in 5 weeks from hip surgery. Especially a sport where you're putting huge forces through your body jumping on ice. It disturbs me if she's thinking about returning in 5 weeks from hip surgery.

Her competitive career was hanging by a thread before this I think it's all but over now unfortunately.

This is just terrible and the season already sucks enough with the cancelation of Russian skating which which turns the ISU season into less than mediocrity. I've been watching some of Alionas videos on YouTube and they're just sensational.

Could this be a minor surgery and why didn't she do it in March or april?

So very sorry for the most beautiful skater in the world. But in reality as figure skating is brutal on the body especially the hips knees and ankles.
 


What did this source of joy and delight do to the gods of skating to deserve so much pain except maybe being a goddess herself dispensing gifts to humans on the ice?!
I can't believe the sequence of misfortune she had since the european championship.
A skater so good never entering the rink of a world championship is such a non sense.

I hate this sport!
2022 has been a disaster, starting with the olympics and (incredibly) spiraling downward after that

Sounds like she went to the hospital to have the surgery, didn't realize she was sick (and i'm guessing had a positive covid test) and was sent home to recover before surgery which will now be towards the end of the month. i don't think we will see her back on the ice until winter at least.

And ended up a broken mess desperate to switch coaches and then returned to the ones who broke her. Incredibly sad.
 
Well, everyone laughed back then when Plushenko and Rudkovskaya said they had put Alyona in contact with good doctors, which she would definitely need. I don't like Plushenko, but I think that it would have been better for Alyona's health if she stayed with the angels. The crowbar was obviously the wrong decision.
