In the interview after his SP Sasha said fatigue played a part as this is his 9th start. Although he also said that competing was good practice too.
Ultimately, I don't think there is any "perfect strategy" - everything has its pros and cons - its rewards and risks. One can only do what seems the wisest at the time. Still, for the most part in those competitions he has been impressively consistent - I think we can "allow" him one really bad skate
- and not let it mar what he has achieved thus far. (I was going to say "meltdown" - but oddly enough... bad as it was... it didn't seem like a "meltdown" to me... Yes, maybe I'm making no sense, but... what can I say?
