Alexander Petrov

Now that the jwc is coming closer (which means that it's soon time for Sasha to fly to Tallinn) I for some reason started to wonder a few things… 1) how good you think his English is?
2) does he travel with his parents to the competitions abroad?
3) and if he doesn't travel with his parents do you think that he has his own hotel room or does he sleep with somebody?
Kind of weird questions but whatever

I know that his father was with him at JGP competitions and at Russian Nationals. Estonia is really close to Saint Peterburg, so maybe this time the whole family will come to cheer for him.

Yeah, what gallavich and exerym said is the case.

1.He can understand simple English but not as good as Liza. If you ask him simple questions in English on IG, sometimes he will reply to you. Or even if you wish him good luck etc.
2.His father has been traveling with him since his earliest internationals (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_acXyW1AOWg that's his dad in the brown jacket), this season not as often as before. I've not seen his mother or sister at competitions but the sister goes to Mishin's summer camps too.
3.He'll probably room with Samarin or Adian at JWs.
Not weird questions. :)

When does he leave for Talinn?

The SP is on Friday, I think? I do hope he does really well there!

If I have understood right, the official practices start on Monday (which is tomorrow) so based on that I'd guess he would leave today.

Good luck Petrov! I've been reviewing the JGPF performances and Petrov has an engaging style and powerful skating. Hoping everything goes to plan.

All of the top men planned programs. Sashas looks kind of strange… I can't understand why he would go to the fs with only one 3A. But let's just trust mishin…
I believe Mishin is making the better choice for Sasha's growing body.
I have nothing against Nathan Chen, but I'm afraid his body might suffer a lot of pains in the future because of his layout at this stage.

Based on the information about some skaters, I don't think this is a true content, which skaters really planned. So relax, let's wait for the competition. Petrov said he wants to fight for the gold. So he should go to any danger. And I'm sure he will.
Of course we can't be absolutely sure he will try a quad this year, but two triple axels - that's what he can do.

Ok. I calmed down..

If that's real... :drama: in the content planned by Jin and Chen. These reckless kids... I'm starting to see Meoima's point--still don't agree with limiting quads in general, but for juniors? Maybe some intervention is in order. (Shoma pained expression at the end of Nationals and 4CC wasn't helping either).

I'm okay with no quad if Sasha isn't ready. No second triple axel... Hopefully he's not sick or injured. But if he is, watering down the content is preferable to what happened to Pitkeev at Europeans.

He was sick before - maybe he's taken longer to recover, and has lost out on training time? Anyway, I trust Mishin's judgement. He'll hold back when he thinks that is best - and push the technical content when he thinks the skater is ready.

Note: I just looked at the planned jumps for the other skaters - and there is "4T?" for Pitkeev in the SP. That isn't allowed in the SP in juniors, is it? (if I remember correctly? that's why Peetrov has had a level playing field in the SP, but lost out in the FP.)

LRK, because some people which wrote this just took the programs from the Europeans, etc... This is not what the guys will perform.

The list does not accurately reflect what they will attempt.

Sasha might as well not show up if he's going to attempt an LP with such a low BV in jumps. 3F is also his weakest jump, I really doubt he will be attempting 2 flip combos.
Quad is not allowed in the SP for Juniors.
I highly doubt that Chen will attempt 3 quads (and 1 in combo) in the LP. Although his US Nationals planned elements list had 3 quads, in reality he only attempted 1 quad (4T).

You're right, no SP quads allowed in Juniors.

Hopefully Sasha can skate that SP to perfection. If he does, I honestly don't see why he can't place Top 2. He has the program, the jump quality, maybe not Shoma's SS but he's not weaker than the remaining contenders.

Okay, thanks - then I understand. :)

Oh, well, so we'll just have to wait a little longer. To quad or not to quad, that is the question... (I must confess that was the first thing I looked for - and didn't pay any mind to much else on my first glance. I then went back to it and thought: Hmmm, hey, wait a minute... )

Sasha and Adian were so cute together at the gala last year...in fact, they are the main reason I became interested in juniors. I hope they both make the gala again this year & give us more cute moments.

Does Daniel speak Russian?

Yes, his parents are Russian. His older brother used to compete in Russian Cup events.
