It has. They seem to get along well - remember that (somewhat ill advised) joking they did online? (last year I think?) Say what you will, I don't think they would have done it unless they felt comfortable with each other.
Their friendship goes back a few years.
When Nam joined VK last year, the first Russian skater to appear on his friends list was Sasha.

They aren't "very close" because of the obvious language and geographical hurdles but nonetheless they've been friends for awhile.

No, of course - but it does say something that they can be friends in spite of those things, I think.:) I wonder if they'll be able to get together in Canada if Sasha goes there with Papa Mishin? (more a rhetorical question, of course - but it would be nice to think he had a friend there, if he goes.:))

It depends on his schedule I guess. Certainly not during the competition but maybe after the FS ends, I dunno. At the banquet last year they had their photo taken together. http://i.imgur.com/YEDrFcY.jpg

Well, Sasha usually has some friend or another at competitions. And if not, he will just make new friends. :)

Great photo! What a pair of young hooligans... (said with utmost affection of course)

Now I want them to do a gangster themed EX together... What about the Untouchables?:):

Yeah, "hooligans". ;) :rolleye:  :p :)

That 2012-13/2013-14 FS of Sasha's had a "young hooligan" theme to it.

I guess you could say he has a playful streak to his personality but he is definitely a good-natured person.
At TEB, Sasha was seen helping Liza carry her luggage around.

A gentleman. :)

Hey, in my further browsing I came across this:

I had actually been thinking of it, but I had no clue what it was! (I mean, I had part of the music in my head - which obviously is no help at all, nor exactly searchable.;))
Handel's Sarabande. Joubert just skated to the Globus rearrangement (his tribute program) which T/M, M/K and Pitkeev all used in 2014-2015.

This version is skatable. And if cut properly, it could be a great program.

Yes! Great find.:)

Re Sarabande - so, do you feel that even in the original version it would be too recognisable and feel similar to the Globus version?

In further browsing, I've developed quite a fondness for this:

But it may be just tooo slooooow in parts for skating. (The same problem I have with finding a skatable version of Greensleeves... )

The Globus version is very similar to the original Sarabande, plus the name is even the same so I don't think he should use it, at least not in the near future.

He could use this piece by Rachmaninov instead, but he would need to find a faster performance of this of course:

You can faintly hear the same La Folia theme in it as Sarabande.

As for Corelli's Sonata, they might have a problem choreographing a stsq to it.

True. Ah, well... it isn't as if they are going to use any of these suggestions anyway. It's still fun to speculate & search, though.:)

Hey, we made some great suggestions. :) And most of them were very skatable and not warhorses at all.

I think there is so much more that can be done with classical music and so far skaters in general have only touched on the very tip of the iceberg.

Agreed.:)

Here is a piece that isn't classical, but no one has used - and sadly, aren't likely to use either - my favourite music from Babylon 5:
