Alexander Petrov

Nothing much by way of news. Sasha's been training I guess. The next competition is Finlandia Trophy. Mens SP doesn't begin until 8 Oct I think but the ladies SP is on the 6th so maybe he will have to get there by the 4th or 5th if they are flying in.

Skater01, are you going to Finlandia Trophy?

Oh, I forgot to mention! Yes, I will be there at least on Sunday and maybe also Saturday afternoon depending on how early I can get there.

Finlandia Trophy Practice Schedule:

Dated 30 Sept but subject to changes.

So, first practice on Wednesday? Will they be there by then do you think?

It's funny, I'm feeling so exhausted after all the FS - and I haven't even watched a fraction of it! just thinking of that makes me even more tired;) - and no sooner do I hear of Finlandia, but I perk up again and am all: Yeah! Bring it on! (Sighs) Let's face it... I'm an addict.;)

I am so tired as well. I feel like I need some kind of detox from FS. And yet I've not watched any competition this weekend either. :ohwell:

Sasha went for practice today, around 11.30am local time at the practice rink. There's only one practice group scheduled for the men today, just 55 min of ice time for all. I suppose most of the competitors for the mens competition have not arrived yet.

I caught about 40% of Sasha's practice session. From what I saw, he had the whole rink to himself. The other 5 guys were no shows. He looks fit but tired. It could also be because he had already done 20mins of practice before I found out about the stream (silly me). I did not get to see a run-through. He probably did that much earlier in the session. During the time that I did watch, he either drilled jumps or was talking to Mishin. The quad at this point is mainly a psychological hurdle, I can tell you that much.

Edit:
He did a run through of his FS.

Btw, if anyone is interested to know, it was all black, long sleeves and Nike. Hairstyle is the same as at Nebelhorn.
Jacket is also the same one he's worn to all events this season.

Something else to add...
Nothing of what I saw today was any different from a guy trying to add a new quad into his program for the first season. I've seen this all before with certain other well known Russian skaters when they were around this age or even older (19-20). As to why some people are making a big deal out of it, well, there will always be naysayers and alarmists.

Word.

ETA - Oh, and thanks, of course, for reporting on his practice and how it was going. There is something said for having the rink all to himself.:)
