Well, thank goodness for RUS being later in the alphabet than CAN, so we didn't miss out on his runthrough...

Well, seems like he's in a good mood today. Which is great of course. There were kids at one corner of the rink cheering on the skaters and that made him happy.

He'll be the second guy in the next session. But still no stream. Sigh.

Edit:
Well, in the end the stream came on and in better quality but they had decided to skip the session. lol

Apparently he isn't there. Well, Liza missed the morning session, so maybe Mishin thinks one session a day is enough?
Yeah, I had edited my post just before you wrote yours.
He'll definitely be there for the third session.
Well, since he isn't jumping any quad, I suppose one session a day is enough. Oh well.

Someone else has recorded the practice:

As you can see the layout is the same as the one from Panin Memorial. He opens with the 3A now. A 3T now appears in the second half of the program. It seems he did attempt a few solo 4Ts after his run through.

How did they go? (I've difficulty distinguishing who is who - except in the runthroughs - as they swish or are being swished past, let alone what they are doing.:))

Landings were out of vision of the camera. But if he had landed a clean one, probably the camera man would have turned to him so I'm assuming they were all unclean. This doesn't bother me. I am in fact glad that he continues to attempt quads during such practice sessions. It gives me hope that Mishin will, at some point this season, allow him to do it in competition again. What he did manage to land at the Knowledge Day event and in gala(s) during the summer, was although not clean, would still have been worth more points than a clean 3T.

He needs to have a quad to extend his season well into late March, I'm sure you know what I mean.

Oh, yes - and absolutely agree with all you say.

ETA - Maybe that's the plan? To let him train the quads without the pressure of knowing he has to compete them - and thus letting him do them more in "peace & quiet" so to speak? I'd guess the same goes for Liza and the change in her layout - I think I saw her try a 3A in practice and fall on it. Maybe Mishin's pursuing a similar strategy for the both of them. (Just guessing here & trying to make sense of it.)

I think Mishin's plans for Liza and Sasha are different. Because their circumstances are different and Mishin's perspective on them differs. My opinion.

The issue with Sasha's quad is that he needs more speed approaching the jump, or rather, to not lose speed just before the entry of the jump. I am sure Mishin knows this because he has spoken about such things regarding another skater's jump issue. Physically Sasha can do this now that his injury woes seem to be behind him. But the mind controls the body. Sasha has to somehow mentally "rewind" to a couple seasons back when the pressure to land a quad was not such a barrier to him yet and he started out learning it fine.

That's interesting & makes perfect sense - thanks as ever for sharing your insights:) - I don't doubt you are right.

This is just the way I see it from what I've read and looked at. The speed entering the jump issue I think is very clear, some other people have commented so too. The mental factor, well, only Sasha himself really knows how big an issue that is. But for a Russian man, the word "pressure" is never absent.

Eventually though, I'm confident he will get it. And from a technical perspective, it will be a good jump just like all his other jumps are very solid technique wise. To paraphrase something Liza said before in an interview, and I do very much agree with this, correct and proper technique is harder to master than something that is improper but "kind of" works for you.

Sasha's Instagram post from yesterday:

I google translated Daniel's comment and it was:

"they are great Brother"

I'm so glad Sasha has a friend there, and I see a supportive comment from Juilan Yee - so nice to see how many friends he has among other skaters.:)
Indeed.

Stream crashed during Sasha's SP. He also had a mistake on his lutz landing in the run-through, landed into some hole in the ice it seems. Then he left the session early. Sigh.

Oh, dear... I hope that didn't rattle him.
