There is a small possibility that he might have to skate in the Russian Cup Final, which will be from 12 to 16 Feb. It's more than a month away so I don't think they will have come to any decision whether or not to skate there yet. We will only find out in February, close to the actual event. This year the Final will be held in Saransk. The reason why he might have to skate there is that he didn't do well at Nationals. But we shall see.

I have not forgotten about the OP. I just have some other things to settle first. But I will get down to updating it.

Yeah, never a week without drama.

So, Mishin gave an interview about Carolina, to Rsports. Blah blah blah and then out of the blue, Sasha Petrov preparing for Junior World Championships. He didn't say anything more than that, the rest of the interview was about Caro and Liza.

He had the chance to send Sasha to Junior Worlds last year and he declined (or rather hinted that he declined) and now he throws this statement out there. Is Sasha going to be on the reserve team like last year? Or is he going to have to skate at Junior Nationals? Or are they going to just send him to Junior Worlds directly? Or did someone (Mishin or reporter) make an error somewhere.

Just when I wanted to take a break from all this.

Edit:
Quite honestly, it sounds rather like his coaches have no clear idea about what to do with this skater.

FYI, this is not going down well with Russian skating fans. I have yet to read even one positive comment about Mishin's supposed decision to send Sasha to Junior Worlds.

Junior Nats
SP: 3 Feb 2pm SPB time
FS: 4 Feb 2pm SPB time

Results grid link and starting order will be announced after the draw which is tomorrow night local time. When that info is available, I will post it here.

Sasha's SP score is 79.19, and he's currently 2nd with four left to skate.

So it seems the short program is now finished, and Sasha is 3rd overall.
