Alexandra Trusova

Really random, but am I the only one here with a great desire to see Sasha become not only the quad queen of singles, but of pairs skating? Perhaps after 2022?
I’m sure if she ever decided to go into pairs, after achieving everything she wanted in singles, she’d be crushing everyone there. Not only with SBS quads, but with quad throws and twists. She’s very good with feeling her position in the air, and with rotations, so I have no doubt she’d be nailing pair elements with ease. It’s a rare talent.
Not mentioning, it will be a phenomenon in itself of a top world class athlete switching to another discipline.
However, pairs is a contact sport, hence inherently more prone to various injuries, so that’s a downside.

OF course pairs is very dangerous and different to singles. Sasha is fearless, she will endure anything, she is strong. If she can get the right partner to teach her pairs elements, then look at how fast Vasilieva and Kadyrova learned. Of course there are a million things that can go wrong. But Sasha said she wants to skate until 2026. The history of Russian ladies says this is not possible but if she really wants to, then I guess she will not really want to/be able to land quads with a consistency to keep up with the other singles girls. And she's constnatly looking for new adventure, so she can be the quad queen of pairs too. Ideally she will get a partner who is about 185-190cm tall, strong, experienced, from Moscow, and has jumps up to at least 3-3, so that they can have an advantage in that area. And of course he must have a good character.

Really random, but am I the only one here who sees through this threadable maneuver in which three of the usual suspects in Sasha's FF get together to talk about the end of Sasha's career as a single skater in a back-handed way? I can assure the three that this attempt is not half as subtle as they might think.
Please make such considerations about your personal favorites and then in their FFs and leave Sasha and her real fans alone. Thank you very much!

Ummm.... this is nothing to do with anyone wanting or wishing Sasha ending her career as a singles skater, well definitely not from my side, it’s a hypothetical question from a user (who is a big fan of pairs skating from what I assume) and I personally just wanted to compliment Sasha’s athletic abilities to begin with, because I truly think she’ll achieve greatness in whatever she does, and there’s nothing she can’t do. OBVIOUSLY, she won’t switch to pairs, because there’s no point in that for her.
The same discussion was held around Nathan Chen, because he too has rare athletic abilities. And that Sasha and Nathan, hypothetically, would be an incredible pair. I’m confident no one was realistically assuming he will switch to pairs either.
but this paranoia is tiring and please don’t feel like you have some authority to decide who’s a real fan and who’s not.

Random, yeah :laugh2:You are not here as a member of a cult to decide who is a "true believer" and who is a "heretic" :thank: Paranoia doesn't gain you much credit.

Exactly. I would love to see Sasha skate in singles for a long time. I love her skating, I love her personality and I hope she also loves to skate. I just think it would be interesting to see her explore something else that I also think she would be great at, even if it's just for a show or a short period of time. I admire that Sasha is always looking for a new adventure, and as I have gotten into pairs skating lately, I just find that should she desire, she could excel there as well IN ADDITION to singles.

I rarely ever post in Sasha's FF, I am mostly active in the Russian pairs thread......though I am a huge fan of Sasha, as she is the one who really appealed to me to start watching fs.

A few days ago Aljona Savchenko said that should Yuzuru Hanyu decide to switch to pairs, he would succeed. I took it as a great compliment, and from someone who knows what she's speaking of! (I know nothing about pairs I confess.) Then I tried to figure out who may be his partner (to get a greater strength in solo and thrown jumps, and perfect spins etc, as I suppose twist lifts would be the most challenging for him; not lifts, he's consistently practising even as the lifted person and he seems perfectly aware of all the movements/balances implied) and of course, the first I thought of was Alexandra Trusova because they have already jumped a 4T side-by-side and Yuzuru Hanyu managed to catch her way and rhythm at the third attempt, which I find great. So, I thought that for quads and combination jumps (and probably throw jumps) they would be great together, but now, they don't have the same style of skating, her spins wouldn't match his so they couldn't earn points there, so would 3A, etc, plus she's 1m58 now, too tall for his 1m72 I suppose. I didn't think further about Alexandra Trusova in pairs. I assume she is starting a long and successful career in skating and didn't really consider pairs but why not? Should someone like her switch to pairs, it would boost pairs both in level and in audience I suppose? Though it seems already pretty hard. And as you say, which partner? Nathan Chen has been evoked but what about his hip problem? Plus, there would be a problem of stamina, as in single programs he is not able to do both elements and entries/transitions (nor performance), while Alexandra Trusova does deliver. He's 21 now, maybe he will grow there? Plus he's really not tall (1m64?) Shoma Uno and Kévin Aymoz, whose styles would be rather compatible with hers, seem too small for her too. But among the younger ones, we don't know yet who will develop into tall, athletic, great skaters in a few years. So, I would say, not for now (and I'm sure she will remain in singles for a while) but why not later? And just because it would please her/she would find there a challenge at her measure, not out of renouncing to get what she wants in single skating, this would not do with her.

I wouldn't go by the ISU heights. Sasha is not a bit under 160cm, and NAthan is around 172 as well. He's the same height as Hanyu, maybe a little bit shorter. I don't think stamina would be an issue, the only problem would be whether he wants to give up his jumping to throw a girl around! I think this could be a good idea maybe for a show or a Battle of the Blades type competition, though I would really love to see Sasha develop quad twist and quad throws, as well as quad SBS. Now that Russian men's requires several consistent quads, perhaps more boys with 3A and 4S/4T will consider pairs.

Mikhailov was an ice dancer. So i think something was lost in translation. I would assume they practiced dance stuff.

Great article about Sasha. It is rare luck to find really useful information on this site. Google translator will help non-Russian speakers.

In his recent interview Pluschenko admitted Alexandra skated at GP with trauma:

It does explain the crashes but doesn't clear her current state.

One of Aleksandra's support groups came up with a rather excellent idea, IMO: calendars for you to print!
Umlimited creative possibilities here:

or this wall calendar:
and many more already done and still more to come
