Alina Gorbacheva missing - found safe

Comparitively to western countries kidnappings are extremely rare in Russia. Also, people say the belongings being left behind is suspicious, but what kind of kidnapper would just leave evidence behind like that in the open for no reason? Something about this seems like a culmination of personal trauma, I just hope she doesn't make a poor decision herself that gets her in a bad situation.

Sports ru is reporting that the personal belongings found aren't hers.

The information about the found things was not confirmed, now they say that Alina's socks were found, but they may belong to someone else.

Especially in the centre of Moscow at the beginning of the evening
Maybe, but I think a lot of kidnappings actually happen in broad daylight - she just has to turn an empty corner for a minute and she can be taken easily. But all things considered I still think this wont have a bad ending.

Why is everyone speculating about a kidnapping? Most young women who disappear from the street aren't kidnapped. They either run away from home, commit suicide, or are raped and killed by strangers, in that order of statistical likelihood, with the third possibility in distant last place. Kidnappings aren't that common outside of Russia either.

It's too early to conclude something terrible happened to her. Many teenagers who run away from home are found days or even weeks later. Let's hope that will be the case here, and whatever she's running away from can be resolved.

Hopefully she comes back/is found safe and well.
It's no use speculating what might have happened, we don't know her, don't know if there's history of rebellious personality and sometimes not even more close friends and family know either, when the person just acts in an impulse of the moment or if she was abducted against her will. The authorities/police will investigate and look for her.
All one can do is wait and hope for the best, that she returns safe.

Yeah, the only kidnappings that I have ever heard happening here (outside of tv crime movies where it's very popular :frown: ) are either those of really rich people's kids, but even then it is rare, or it's a case where there have been fights about the child's custody and then one family member abducts the child to take it from the other parent.

Please don't do this. Who are you trying to blame here? Ukrainian victims?
No, I'm sorry, I meant that nothing matters besides Alina is a young teen girl. Even if you dislike the russian style of skating or hate her coach or whatever i was trying to dissuade any mean spirited comments that said anything other then "teen girl missing, hope she is found". I should have worded it differently, I apologize.

I had a look at her Instagram and she said 6 days ago she enjoys walking about Moscow between training. The area she was last seen was 1km from the rink so it wouldn't be unusual to walk that far. The sun wouldn't set for another 30 minutes, she likes to walk, maybe wanted to go somewhere quiet near the river for the sunset after being in the rink all day. Spartak Stadium was nearby it looks like she was probably going to walk a loop around the stadium then probably head home.

The area she was last seen is somewhat desolate, few buildings so little CCTV. Along the shore is somewhat wooded in parts.

If her belongings haven't been found it makes suicide by drowning unlikely. She might have attempted to drown herself by keeping the backpack on her back, but then she wouldn't have been able to go far from shore. So either Alina or the backpack would be found close to the shore. The river does not have high walls to jump from there's just a small sandy shore looking at Google Maps.

Maybe she has routine walking the same route after training and someone sinister has been watching. Sunset would have been 30 minutes from when she was last seen on camera, so it would have been possible to wait until darkness to leave the park undetected.

Well there are some oddities about Gorbacheva's relationship with her family and her coach. And some of the reports/speculation coming out is that the coach-student relationship was having some difficulties

Oh dear, how horrible! My prayers are with Alina, with those searching for Alina and with her loved ones.

Stranger abductions make up less than one percent of all child disappearances in the US. link (I wouldn't know about elsewhere), so fortunately that is probably an uncommon occurrence worldwide.

If she ran away to a friend's house, how did she completely evade any CCTV cameras in Moscow. Surely the friend or the friend's mother would have alerted authorities nearly 24 hours later given the city wide search for her.

How awful, I have just seen this on some of the skaters instagrams, really hope they find her safe and well soon 🙏

What worrisome news. I'm really hoping this young girl is found safe, and is reunited with her family soon!

I don't know how any of this could have happened, I am just sad that a girl who, a gifted skater, is now evidently confirmed missing.

I leave what happened to her for the people searching for her, and hope that she is found safely.

There is a possibility that Alina is alive. There's camera video of her sitting in a cafe today.
Hopefully it's true and she just doesn't want to go home.

The Moscow prosecutor's office's Telegram channel posted a video confirming that Alina Gorbacheva went into a cafe on Volokolamskoye shosse at around 1 p.m. today.
