Alina Zagitova

The bathroom?

This guy should be banned from any event AZ is working in the future.
Drop the "ban hammer" on him!

I don't think he followed her in the bathroom, I think it was reported that someone else did. But then again, things often get lost in translating articles.

But ban him anyway for being a lying snake.

And to those nutjob haterz out there in twitterland....
If you really think that Alina overreacted to this guy following her to her car, ask yourselves the following question.
Why did he lie about it in his article by saying she got mad for him simply filming her sitting in the crowd at the game????

The fact that he made up an entire narrative about it happening in the press center instead of the parking lot is bizarre. I guess he thought he could conceal the very important fact that he was following her and filming her after the game. Did he really think no one would say anything? And then when they did of course it's all a misunderstanding. Sure it is.

Because he knows the haters will run with the original story no matter what.

Facts don't matter to people with an axe to grind.

Couldn't believe what I was reading... It is incredibly sad that Alina has to go through this. As if she didn't have enough when she was competing... Glad that she stands up for herself, but maybe it is time to think about security? I can imagine the hate that would generate, but Alina does need protection.

As much as it pains me I want to attempt to be fair. Other people, (not sure who), were either following her into the bathroom or waiting for her outside the bathroom. Or both. :( Either way, that behavior, along with grabbing her hand, understandably upset Alina. Then this clown follows her out into the parking lot to film her. :( Alina didn't like it and let him know it and now we are here. :(

But I am fine with banning him from Alina for just being an awful person towards her.

On a positive note, Olga Ermolina, Russian Figure Skating Federation spokesperson, gave Alina some support on her Instagram post.

The same Ermolina that Alina argued with at the press conference after the Channel 1 Cup. Things can change. Thanks, Ermolina.
Hm, I misunderstood that part then. I thought he said something along the lines that it’s understandable to get angry when you’re grabbed by the hand near the bathroom. So I assumed he was talking about himself, but it appears he meant that incident was a contributing factor?

Regardless, following someone like he did warranted a reaction.

While l'm not for canceling people generally or banning people generally but this is an instance of personal security and of someone being followed and creeped on that is not good in any way.

His lying is very embarrassing too..

Ok I wonder what or even if Alina can get support from other athletes here? i am sure others have been harassed. Also what can foreign fans do? Run with the hashtag on Twitter but would it help outside Russia?

She did get support on her Instagram and on Twitter from other athletes and even their fanbases. It was heartwarming to see. Eteri almost always 'likes' anything Alina posts on Instagram and I appreciated that she liked this one as well. It was a nice gesture of support.

Alina's Russian fanbase is second to none. Her Japanese fanbase is also absolutely wonderful with their love and support. The rest of us aren't too shabby either. :) I feel safe in saying none of her fans turned on her in this situation. If anything their support for her is stronger now. I feel confident in believing that they've got this.

Anyone who reads about this incident and decides that Alina deserves what she's getting never cared for her anyway. Nothing was ever going to change that so there is really nothing else to say.

Every single time has Alina has faced criticism - unfair or deserved - it has turned out okay in the end. I don't believe this time will be any different. It hurts to see it happen again and again, but she always manages to rise above it. Every time.
