Alina Zagitova

I’m glad worlds are in Japan. Alina will not only focus on her skating but also she will have fun with Masaru and her sponsors. It will help her to relax.

Personally, I think it will make her World Championships more stressful having to deal with all the publicity and hoopla, but I hope I am wrong. Also, Rika doesn’t have to deal with anything like this yet. I hope her team prepares her wisely and doesn’t overwhelm her with other engagements...

None of us really knows how it's going to affect Alina. Heck, Alina probably doesn't know for sure how it will affect her until she is actually in the midst of it. How many times have all of us been faced with a series of obligations and been like - 'oh sure, no problem.' And then all of a sudden you are in the middle of it thinking - 'what have I done?'

On the other hand sometimes you stress about things and it is a pleasant surprise - 'wow, this is nothing at all, it turned out to be fun. What was I worried about?'

I am hoping all of the Japan activities will fill her with happiness which she can channel into confidence and strength.

Yes! All true.

If Masaru goes to worlds Alina goes to worlds!

True. Amazing there are people that think Alina wont go.

even though technically anything can happen it's so obvious that some people are just saying she won't go because they dont want her on the team :disapp:

i wonder if she'll use her gold blades at worlds i want to see them action :luv17: from the masaru videos it seems like she's still using regular blades

I hope you are right. I would love to see Alina prove all her naysayers wrong and win Worlds this year. The posts on The Edge have become so toxic in insinuating her downfall, I think if I responded to some of them, I would just get banned. However, I am a little worried with all her recent promotions (Puma, Masaru, etc.) that maybe she has not been able to train as much as she should. I just remember last year, when Evgenia was busy doing promotions and publicity prior to the Olympics, Alina was training hard and we all know who ended up winning the gold. Obviously Evgenia was injured, so that might be why she wasn't training as much. Hence, I worry that Alina is actually injured as well. Again, maybe I am overreacting here, but Alina looked so much stronger earlier in the season. Hopefully, by writing out all of my concerns, it will ensure that they don't happen. I would love to see Alina at her strongest at Worlds. More importantly, I would love to see her come back strong for next season.

The Edge is a tough crowd. Some days I just avoid it all together. I understand how it can all get in your head.

I have no idea what is going on but I hope that her training is geared toward getting her into peak shape at Worlds. Her injury or injuries have had sufficient time to heal. I trust her coaching team to know exactly what to do for Alina to reach the perfect level of fitness at just the right time - Worlds. It's hard to peak twice in a season and I don't think she has peaked yet.

I imagine they are treating it like a less intense version of last season when they had to get her in the best shape possible to be ready to compete at the Olympics. I think they will do everything in their power to give her the best chance to be successful at Worlds.

The videos of Masaru at the rink show they are also keeping things light and playful. This can only be a good thing for everyone's state of mind.

Hopefully, this is the magic recipe for Alina's success at Worlds!

Happy One Year Anniversary!!!!

Olympic Gold Medal!!!!

Alina....
I hope you slay at Worlds like you did at the Olympics.

You have had to "battle" a lot this season.
But you have never given up.
You are a true fighter.

Another reason from the fed's point of view would be the reluctance to have two Mishin skates there, since he is hardly high ijn thheir esteem.

I sincerely hope it will be Alina, Sofya and Liza. If it is Alina, Liza and Evgenia (or Alina, Sofya and Evgenia), that would be a travesty of all things both sensible and decent.

Can I ask why Mishin seems to not be liked by RusFed? He trained the much loved Plushenko till very recently right?

Also Completely agree with you. And not even sure what alinaharry's thinking is, because EM and ET are not going to Universaide they will go to Worlds with Sofia? Then what about Alina? She goes no where? The leaps of selective reading some people make in ice skating is just.... astounding

It's hard for me to imagine Alina skating 2 clean programs at Worlds. Only if they make them less difficult and there is no chance for that. But I still think she should go and not Evghenia.... she is really talented and a good kid, very emotive, trying to hide it, and I don't want her to be another olympic gold medalist without a world medal, no matter the colour. Alina raised the level, after Evghenia also raised the level. Evghenia is not now at Alina's level, they both make mistakes because they are not little girls anymore, so sending Evghenia doesnt mean 2 clean skates with less difficulty, but less difficulty and so an so skates which is not enough. Next year the level will be raised by Trusova and Sherbakova and Kostornaya... so will any of the actual girls make the team? I wish both Evghenia and Alina would have at least one more chance... and not fade away like Adelina and Yulia.

As far as I can see, there are no locks for the world team... does anyone know when will it be decided?
