I don’t disagree with you, I am making statements based on what the Rusfed has said and done. No one was already confirmed for WC. Neither Evgenia or Elizaveta are going to be at Universiade. Based on statements made by them, I believe this means that they will be at Worlds. I also believe Sofia will go as the European Champion. These are all assumptions, I am aware and I would love to be wrong, as I think Alina should go, but I am just making statements based on what I’m seeing. I am sorry this was probably the wrong place to have this discussion.
I doubt this very much. Alina has had a superb year by any standards (as per lusk8's post above). If the federation had had any doubts about Alina, they would have had her skating at Velikiy Novgorod this week.
Also, one of the reasons I believe the judging panel of conjurors performed their outrageous stunt yesterday and today, blatantly in broad view of the entire skating world, is that Evgenia is (or was at one time) liked by the Japanese. This kind of tactical thinking by the federation, if true, would apply even more emphatically in Alina's case, as she is venerated in Japan. (Of course, there are other reasons, including the infatuation by tat and other power-brokers, and "pledges".)
If, under your scenario, both Elizaveta and Evgenia are selected, it would be the unfortunate Sofya who would be sacrificed to federation stupidity, and not Alina, since their records just cannot be compared. Sofya has great consistency, an unruffled disposition and a couple of astounding victories to her name. Alina has much much higher scoring potential and an unbroken podium record in internationals, and incredibly complex programmes, which make most others look simplistic, even empty.
Another reason from the fed's point of view would be the reluctance to have two Mishin skates there, since he is hardly high ijn thheir esteem.
I sincerely hope it will be Alina, Sofya and Liza. If it is Alina, Liza and Evgenia (or Alina, Sofya and Evgenia), that would be a travesty of all things both sensible and decent.
