Alina Zagitova

One year ago the young girl I’ve first discovered as a Junior (during her very first Junior Competition in the International circuit, the JGP in France), won her Individual Olympic Gold Medal.

Alina, from that very first time I watched her, gave me goosebumps and brought me to the edge of my seat with excitement.

Nobody does it better!!

I can watch her all day long and finding my way to her past performances as a little girl was the trill of a lifetime.

Watching Alina is like watching magic happen on the ice. She is better than perfect, she is human, shows emotions and faces new challenges with her head held up high and a lovely smile on her face.

That Olympic Gold Medal changed Alina’s life, turned several of her dreams into reality, brought her an army of loyal fans spanning several continents, the love and admiration of the nation with the biggest figure skating audience - Japan, and a much loved Akita dog.

But the best part is, this Medal never changed Alina, her essence, her quiet dignity, her great sportsmanship and her will to keep on working hard to get to be her best self on and off the ice.

Alina is a winner because of who she is as much as because of what she does.

She’s beauty, she’s grace, she’s not Miss United States, she is the reining Individual Olympic Gold Medal Winner. An exclusive club membership for the girl with a heart of gold.

Thank you to Alina for continuing on her journey and allowing me the privilege to follow her evolution, she is the only one to watch for me.

Thank you to Alina’s family for giving us this amazing young lady, that you nurtured and raised with love, and that now belongs a little bit to all of us. Her fans, that love her, enjoy her, root for her and await every chance to witness her incredible talents and personality at work.

My first days at GS were glorious. Alina won, Zhenya took silver, users were friendly...
(Yes, there is a hgidden meaning in this message, the first one who solves it will be mentioned in my testament )

I remember recenly re reading one of your posts from a year ago it's hard to believe you've been here only one year and you have already posted more than I have in 5 years. ;)

Happy anniversary to the reigning OGM winner (Singles not Team:devil:). It was a glorious skate, day and victory, but it's the character she has shown since then that makes a real Winner.

Thank you for giving us these beautiful memories Alina.

I'm excited for what's next!

Okay time for my one year anniversary post. So basically one year ago, I knew absolutely nothing about figure skating and never thought of it as an interesting or exciting sport. But then last year at the Olympics I happened to turn on my tv and watch the figure skating and there was Alina Zagitova and Evgenia Medvedeva. Being Russian, I was very fond of both of them because I had always been a huge fan of some Russian gymnasts. My sister told me that Evgenia, the reigning 2 time World Champion was heavily expected to win, so then I also thought that she would win. But then I saw a girl in a red ballerina costume step onto the ice and perform an amazing routine. After the Olympics I never thought i would actually become so interested and invested in figure skating. However, there was something about Alina and her story that made me latch on to her and become her biggest fan.

One year later my life kind of revolves around figure skating, for better or worse idk. Watching Alina's free program live on my tv last year, I never could have imagined that a year later half of the pictures in my camera roll would be of her and her team. I really discovered a missing piece of my life.

Overall I'm just so proud of Alina for the amazing person she has become after winning her Olympic gold medal. I will be with her through all of her ups and downs for the rest of her long and healthy career. :luv17::luv17::luv17:

It's hard for me to imagine Alina skating 2 clean programs at Worlds. Only if they make them less difficult and there is no chance for that. But I still think she should go and not Evghenia.... she is really talented and a good kid, very emotive, trying to hide it, and I don't want her to be another olympic gold medalist without a world medal, no matter the colour. Alina raised the level, after Evghenia also raised the level. Evghenia is not now at Alina's level, they both make mistakes because they are not little girls anymore, so sending Evghenia doesnt mean 2 clean skates with less difficulty, but less difficulty and so an so skates which is not enough. Next year the level will be raised by Trusova and Sherbakova and Kostornaya... so will any of the actual girls make the team? I wish both Evghenia and Alina would have at least one more chance... and not fade away like Adelina and Yulia.

As far as I can see, there are no locks for the world team... does anyone know when will it be decided?

Around Feb25/26 because that is the deadline for announcement of the team, so it could be announced earlier too

Daniil’s new Instagram story :luv17: Happy Birthday Eteri! That’s so cute how the 5 of them are like a family
