Please, people, where did you take that nonsence there is no washroom? That flat is typical block one room apartment with kitchen and washroom, we call it 1+1. The fact that does not match your expectations doesn't mean its not enough for two modest people.
Remember one thing. Figure skating in USA or Canada is sport mostly for people coming from rich families who can afford to pay for training and all. So when sometimes you see them at home, you see residencies and luxury, and that can make you think that is standard all over the world. In Europe and more significant in Middle and Eastern Europe figure skating is a sport for everyone who has talent, which of course doesn't always match with wealth.
As for the living, many of my friends and classmates in my country spent many years in a flat like this, when e. g. their family was from other city and they studied high school in big city like Prague. One of my closest friends lived in a flat like this with his mother (divorced) till he finished university, than he spent several years in Finland (he is great at math) and for the money he earned abroad he finally bought bigger appartment.
So, maybe this is not what match expectations of some westerners (who too often want to recreate all world by their idea, IMHO), and maybe she really deserves better, but how long is she OG champion. A little more than a month. Tiil now she lived where she lived, which is not considered so bad in society she comes from, just the fact she is not living in residence with ten useless unused rooms with furniture covered with sheet (and where horrors take place :) ) and with french maids taking care of all that unused space does not mean its so bad. Lets give her time and let her decide what she shall do with her money she got for her hard work.
Case closed.

Wow, lots of aggression. If you read my posts, you'll see that I've asked *multiple* times if it was typical of Moscow/Russia. There was no clear answer until now.

Since it is a typical accommodation, then that's that. End of story.

It's interesting how quickly others jump to conclusions about other countries. Believe it or not, no, figure skating is not exclusively a rich person's sport in North America.

Anyways, I'm here to support Alina and hope that the sacrifices she has spoken about publicly continue to benefit her and her family.

Alina just did a live video chat on her instagram feed. Pretty cool. She was on the plane to Korea for her next Ice Show.

Maybe after she lands it will show up on her Instagram Stories, she had to turn off her phone before it could upload there.

Over 2000 watching her live and on that chat, awesome.

Yes, I saw that! Pretty cool!

That was not about aggression, take it as my sence of humour :) On the other hand, you should choose your words more carefully when you just ask a question :) But I think russianfan answered it pretty well already. So do not take it as attack, just like explanation done my way...

I believe some of the Periscope videos were taken at her parents apartment in Izhvesk. It seems very nice. Her apartment in Moscow, not so much. I hope that changes, but she gets to stay in her ideal location, so close to the rink and the park.

We will have to wait and see. I'm still holding out hope that a new apartment might be a possibility for Alina and her grandmother in the very near future. Come on Russian government! Make it happen! Fingers crossed....

I'm with you. I think Alina at some point in the future will want to live in the same home with her parents and little sister and grandmother. But a lot of things have to happen for that to be possible. Her father has a career as a hockey coach and he can't just quit that to be with his daughters and wife in one home can he? So far Alina is makng the best with her siuation. She is off to a great start in her career.

Choose my words more carefully? Perhaps something got lost in translation... I do not want to belabor that particular topic.

Anyways, I hope the full IG story gets posted, because I only caught the last bit.

I'm hoping so too, if she uploads it (it asks at the closing of the chat) then it is up for 24hs like a regular stories feed. I got in at the very beginning, got an alert on my phone lock screen just as I was getting up for coffee. Needless to say, coffee break scraped for Alina. Worth it.

Would love to watch it with more calm and see what questions she answered.

How is the housing situation in Moscow anyways? Wouldn't it be bit too complicated for Alina to actually purchase a place, since she is only 15 (even if she is Olympic champion)? Is it easy these days to find a place? Maybe staying where she lives is also matter of not having time to hunt for new place.

It's a slow day work and I caught then end just as I came back from lunch. We can hopefully review it soon!

I suppose her parents will help her to find a place.

Not really a theory, just making a very basic observation of 'one bed and two occupants.' Since you seem to be Russian/ living in Russia, is it a typical flat?

As someone previously stated, it doesn't seem ideal for an athlete.

Anyways, let's leave it at that. I do hope they can upgrade to be more comfortable.

Well i wouldnt say its a typical one. Rather a typical very econom version
