Hello, dear friends!
I came back from Helsinki and had to spend the entire day at university so I couldn't keep up with all the threads I usually follow on GS but I surely will read everything I have missed!
It. Was. Amazing! Alina was amazing! It was 4 days of great moments, laughter, strong emotions and unforgettable atmosphere! I tried to upload some clips on Insta but my hands are shaking and I am screaming like a crazy person...
I told you already about Friday and the short program - now, the free skate: Alina was so strong! Her warm-up was really good, my friend even made some very cool videos in slow motion of her jumps - maybe I will upload some of them on Instagram the next days, they remind me of the slow-motion 3Lz-3Lo in the bank commercial - pure epicness.
I got scared for Alina shortly before her free skate because she fell on 3Lz badly while the results of the previous skater were announced. I feared the fall was hard and that it would affect her but seconds later she started performing like a real Carmen and I forgot my fears immediately! We cheered for her, I was screaming as loud as I could! There was a standing ovation... I am so proud of her, really! I could imagine the pressure she was under, and she fought! The other highlight of the event was Kaori's revival and she had a standing ovation as well, both girls deserve all the love and support, great athletes! My friend and I were pleasantly surprised by Stanislava Konstantinova - she was elegant and showed clean skating. But Alina was a rock star <3
After her results I focused on the next skater and then my friend said to look again at the Kiss and Cry - Alina just got that giant owl and this was the sweetest thing ever! She was so cute carrying it to the exit, the toy was so much bigger than her! We actually saw the man with the owl before the Ladies' Free, he was waiting outside in the common area. If I knew that this owl will become Masaru's new best friend and Iriska's new enemy...
So, Alina was amazing and at the medal ceremony, I was about to cry. I dreamed of this moment - to see her sing to the Russian anthem, on top of the podium. I wanted in to happen in Milan and it didn't but it was for the better, I guess. She definitely has fire in her eyes and we will keep seeing her singing this beautiful anthem. The closest I got to her was when she made the circle around the rink together with the others - she was so happy and I was shouting 'Well done, Alina!'. You saw all the cute moments with the other skaters, I am glad they streamed everything so that you can see all those small interactions that make you naturally smile and laugh.
Unfortunately, we couldn't come up with an idea how to meet her, we didn't know that the press conferences take place immediately after the competition, otherwise we would go to the common area in front of the press center and wait along with another fans. But I think she was tired enough. I prefer not to bother her before a competition or directly after.
So, the next day was also unforgettable for me, I saw Yuzuru Hanyu with my own eyes and the crowd was unbelievable! He really is the King. The Japanese were so excited and proud and it was really an amazing atmosphere. This time my friend and I got to the press center and waited along with the crazy Japanese crowd but Yuzu took another route to go out and it was kinda disappointing because we waited for him for an hour. Oh, well, next time. He surely was also very tired.
The gala was great as well! Alina did her Lara Croft and I was so excited, especially at my FAVOURITE moment of this program - the Charlotte spiral into 3Lz. So. Epic. Just love her!
And when she fell from her combo at the finale, I was sure she will do it right later, when I saw her gaining speed across the rink, I knew what she was up to - She was totally going for the 3Lz-3Lo and she NAILED it! I love her determination and her willingness to end each competition on a positive note.
Then all the interactions with other skaters <3 I am glad she is steady on her way to defend her Grand Prix Final title.
I think some of you would ask me what happened with my friend - I must say, he is definitely a new figure skating fan! He really wanted to meet Alina... Unfortunately it didn't happen, but next time! He doesn't understand all the hate towards her and he loved her Carmen. Even sang parts of the melody at times

He loved all the competitions, we watched the press conferences and Instagram posts every evening at the hotel and he even wanted to understand how to tell the different jumps apart and how the scoring system works (I sometimes think even the ISU has no answer to this question). We watched Alina's practice on youtube and I showed him how to tell when she is going for example for the lutz or for the flip. And meanwhile I realized how I love this feeling of excitement when I see her prepare for these two jumps. They are always so explosive and have the wow-factor!
And today, very early in the morning, my friend and I were waiting at the airport for his flight and suddenly we realized that Michal Brezina (2nd place men) was waiting at the gate as well! We talked a bit to him and I took an autograph - a really nice man but we all were pretty tired (it was 6am) and I decided not to go full fangirl mode

But we thought that maybe we could see Alina at the airport again - there was an earlier and a later flight to Moscow. We had the chance to meet her only if she has the early one so I asked teamzagitova if they know which flight she will be on. Well, it was the later one so no chance to meet her but we had this hope for a while.
I want her to rest and prepare well for Rostelecom - I can't wait to see her slay once more after 2 (very long) weeks...
Guys, isn't Alina just the best? <3
