Alina Zagitova

Beautiful thoughts from our 2 new posters....

helenacm (who was a volunteer and actually saw Alina up close at the Olympics)
Another thing that captured my eyes was her emotional strength, she holds her emotional until the end but when she is off cameras and get to the private session she is just tears. But happy tears!

Giltedge (sums it up perfectly)
She seems to have a peripheral vision that notices and embraces the shy and the straggling, something that suggests she empathises with the outsider.

Hello, and welcome! Post long and post often. :)

Most of the posters here are really nice people, but when someone insults or attacks or otherwise tries to brush off Alina we turn into The Angriest Thread [SUP]TM[/SUP]. Please feel free to nudge things back in the direction of peace and happiness when you see that happen. :agree:

Go Alina! :hap10:

Sometimes when we stray from our usual decorum, we need a good reminder....

MANNER TEETH!!!!

The need for "the usual suspects" to constantly downplay Alina's achievements while puffing up others reminds me of that same telemarketing robocall I get every day....

Its like clockwork
Its annoying beyond belief
It turns me off of the seller and product.

EV has always been like this
Her target, unfortunately, is not Alina but her coach. EV is a longtime enemy of Eteri. There's an video where EV was handing off Alina's silver doe award to Eteri and it was the awkwardest ceremony ever.

The real coaches support Alina. :agree:

I forgot about her!
I discount her because of her obvious agenda.

I meant more the random cranks that show up on twitter, youtube and other gathering places.

Every time I go to "new posts" and see the title "2018 Golden Spin of Zagreb" I keep seeing "Zagitova" instead of "Zagreb".

Looks like they switched up the choreo sequence

Yes, but not sure if it matters at all, or if it's any better choreographically. There isn't much difference between a 0.5s biellman vs. regular spiral, and she's been getting plenty of GOE on it as is. Not quite where I would've prioritized choreography changes, but oh well :confused2:

Hello, dear Helena! Welcome here, you have an amazing story and I am happy that you got to be near Alina at the Olympics! She is an amazing girl and the way she enjoyed her victory showed so much humbleness and care! No wonder she has so many fans, and she deserves all our support [emoji173][emoji173][emoji173]

Been a mute browser here for a good while and finally all this overload of excitement is making me talkative. Hello! A great admirer of Alina, not only for her superb skating and performing skills and her dedication to refining her craft, but also her exemplary, cheerful and humble manner and generosity in the way she engages with her supporters, admirers, coaches, clubmates and competitors. She seems to have a peripheral vision that notices and embraces the shy and the straggling, something that suggests she empathises with the outsider.

Also, though I have not participated, this fan thread is one where I like to dawdle (as, I am sure, many other quiet visitors do), finding here a wonderfully affirmative spirit, evincing enthusiasm and love for Alina; and (most of the time) mutual support and good-natured chitchat. It is always great to see how it quickly gets pulled back into positivity (lusk8 deserves mention but many others do so too) on those few occasions when outside distractions threaten to pull it off-track.

I wish Alina the utmost best, for a memorable and enjoyable joust with the others, Thursday and Friday, and ascendancy to the top of the podium!
Welcome, Giltedge! Post long and often! [emoji173][emoji7][emoji7]

Everything looks strong
Flawless practice even after this long flight [emoji50][emoji50] Our girl is so amazing, what more can I say [emoji22]

All these perfect practices just show where Alina's physical shape is: she is working harder and harder so all her jumps are secure. This incredible level of skill and consistency can not be achieved only with a gigantic amount of work and training.

Daniil about Alina:

She did good in training, straight after flight. There was no falls, and that's good. She is calm and comfortable.

About social media, hate, etc - we cannot take her phone but we talk to her about what to read and what not to read, and how (not) to react. We wrap her in our care and warmth, and try not to be just coaches but like parents to her.
She goes in the right direction.
