Alina Zagitova

Eteri gave Alina a chance, in 2015. Three years later, Alina got a Olympic gold medal. :hap10:

Maybe if some people give Eteri a chance, three years later, there will be another Olympic gold medal or two waiting for Alina. :)

This is not a sad post, there is no sad post possible for someone winning a Silver Medal.

Congratulations to our 2019 European Championship Silver Medalist!

Someone award lusk8 all the medals! This post is everything we need :clapper:

Quote from interview with Olympic Channel

I want to apologise for not doing my best performance today. The best is yet to come for me.

Those are not the words of a quitter ;) Alina keep fighting!!!

Russian press divided over Zagitova.
https://tass.ru/sport/6043655
Plyushchenko: "Getting Silver is no catastrophe for Zagitova, she doesn't need to hang her head, just to keep working and fight and she will rise again"

Which sort of sums up my opinion.

Another take from a sports psychologist.
https://www.sportsdaily.ru/articles...oj-a-medvedeva-pervoj-im-obeim-bylo-by-legche
Vadim Gushchin: "It would have been easier for both of them if Medvyedeva had won Gold and Zagitova Silver at 2018 Olympics"
"Medvyedeva wouldn't have such a conflict and Zagitova not so much pressure"

He also sheds some light on the cruelty of supporter camps of one skater against the other and mass psychology in fandom on social media in general.

Article too long to translate now, but you can run it through an online translator yourself.

Funny moment time: today we had not one, but TWO giant bears: a white one and a red one, thrown on the ice for Alina :eeking::biggrin:
The little girls struggled again to carry them out of the ice, and in this video this moment is captured very well:

(so many toys, flowers and hearts for Alina! she is, and forever will be a fan-favourite, because she is just such an amazing person! :luv17: )

I could partially agree with that, but that's not how sport works. You never can't come to a competition and start some tactics. Well, sometimes somebody does it (like football team that don't try to win to secure better position for the next round), but that is not sport. You always have to do your best and deal with the result whatever it is. Because both Zhenya and Alina did the best they could at the olympics we've got thrilling competition that will be remembered for decades (while this Euro will be later remembered just like the one where Alina won silver :) ), because two great athletes and personalities met and showed us what they are capable of.

ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!:gaah:

Alina's unbroken streak of "Level 4"'s this season is now over....

Element#10 - CCoSp3.

"The Streak" wasn't quite up there with Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak

But it was very impressive nonetheless.

You just KNOW this had to be a tough day for Alina if she missed a Level 4.

What did she say?

Just that Alina won the Olympics at 15, which is hard and puts pressure on her, and that she needs to find herself for next season or for Worlds.
Not gushing, not mean.

Ashley was very happy about Sofia and Viveca though  she couldn't remember Viveca's last name at all.

What did she say?
She said that people should keep in mind when watching Alina perform that Alina was just 15 when she won the Olympics and that there is a lot of pressure on Alina at every competition, which is really hard to deal with and that Alina just needs to find ways to adjust to that for hopefully Worlds and the next season. Ashley seemed very understanding and empathetic for what Alina is going through.

What IS Viveca's last name???? :scratch2:

(Just Kidding)

She shares a name with actress Viveca Lindfors.
But Ashley is too young to probably even know who she was!

Yesterday training spoke for itself and each person chose to see what they want. I watched the wrong approach of her coaching team towards her. She didn't/doesn't deserve to be treated like that. Each time Alina went for feedback she was scolded and the looks and the manners... which obviously derived in Alina to be upset and frustrated.
Thanks to the beautiful audience that tried to cheer her up and brought a smile.
Today skating is the consequence of this attitude towards her and many other things. I hope her parents step up and choose what is better for her, because those training methods are not working on her.
This is Alina's thread so yes i am defending her, not her coaches.

And who do you think made it possible for Alina to get this far? We can't know anything about the true nature of the dynamics of the relationships within the team. Jumping to conclusions by watching some video is nonsense...

Sorry but watching her performance today under the 200 marks means something is wrong and has to be fixed not only by Alina but also by her coaches.

-You are not as stable as before why? Maybe Masaru prevents you from practicing?
(A question from a Japanese journalist)
— (Alina with laughter) on the contrary! All my pets help me a lot. I love them ,very soon Masaru and I going to Japan.

Yes, something must have gone wrong, but blaming everything on the coaches has run its course. They'll have to talk through everything together though and I think Alina needs an expert, a good sport psychologist, who can help her cope with the pressure, because it's all about that in my opinion.
