Alina Zagitova

Since it is wintertime it is easy to forget one of the best things about that apartment - it's access to that absolutely beautiful park! Convenient location to the rink is a must considering Moscow traffic and public transportation hassles. Now that she has Masaru I bet that park means even more than it did before when she was spending her days off sitting by the lake.

A beautiful green space to walk with Masaru is worth much more than bigger apartment. That's why I was hoping she might have found a slightly bigger apartment in the same building.

That said, I do think Alina and her grandmother for that matter, would be happier with their own bedrooms. But I would imagine they are used to it by now.

If I had to make a choice I would choose the close access to the park and no commute to training!

Thank you for posting, we are so blessed today with so much Alina content! I loved that interview! Based on the semi-coherent autotrans subtitles, Alina said she might write a book someday about her experiences? Oh pleeeeaaassseeee let this happen! Also, (according to subs) Alina said she admired Selena Gomez and the interviewer said she thought Alina was much prettier than Selena? Awwww, Alina's reaction was so cute.

Alina is so stunning! I really think she is going to be a huge star and have a wonderful career outside of skating. Puma looks good on her and she makes Puma look good!

I also think many people forget that the living conditions in Russia are a bit different from those in Western European countries for example (but I can be wrong). I think his flat is not that bad for Moscow.

Otherwise, is Alina really so popular in Japan ? I have already seen several Japanese show about her. And TV Asahi is one of the biggest Japanese TV channel, right ?
We would never see that in France, I'm a little jealous

Japanese are very kind and generous towards gymnasts and skaters, quite affectionate even.

Ask any gymnast or skater about the nicest competitions they have attended, and the majority will answer 'competitions in Japan'.

As everywhere it depends on finances only ..
And my opinion, apartments in old European cities is absolutely not suitable for normal life (Italy, France, Holland and , especially, in Great Britain) . New buildings are good and the same in Russia and Western Europe..
But of course the cities of Europe are very beautiful, especially Prague, Amsterdam, Paris

Representatives of Puma said that they will try to help fulfill the dream of Alina to meet with Selena Gomez.

Does she sleep in the same room with her grandmother? There are only three doors (one bedroom, kitchen, bathroom?)?!

I am not sure.

As flanker stated in another post Alina at this point in her career and life really only needs a place to sleep since she's at the rink most of the day.

I think it is not of matter of money cause she earned enough even for a house (from Olympic prizes and sponsorships), but just an option for the moment. Maybe her parents consider that she is more motivated to continue to skate if she still there. Or maybe they didnt have enough time to go on house hunting.

Probably so.

Sometimes we analyze things too much.

That would be amazing! Imagine the photos! Maybe Alina can do an exhibition skate to a Selena Gomez song someday, haha. I'm not really a big fan of Selena Gomez, I much prefer her namesake's music, but if it's Alina's dream, I hope it comes true for her!

Hello everyone!

I’ve been a lurker on GoldenSkate for about a year now, but the culmination of a few events in my personal life over the past couple of months has caused me to finally come out with a post. It’s nice to meet all the people whose comments I’ve been liking! :)

I am lucky enough to have been a fan of figure skating since randomly rediscovering it in one of the YouTube recommended videos around two years ago (Gosh, has it been so long?! All the stuff that’s been going on in the FS world made me lose track of time). I remember observing Alina debut her senior programs, forming my opinions on her keeping her Junior LP, being amazed at her ability to backload all of her jumps, and watching her grow into the beautiful skater she is today. I rooted for her all of last season; I distinctly remember watching Europeans 2018 live while studying for exams and exclaiming “YES, SHE DID IT!” to a very quiet, and subsequently, very angry group of students in the library  . With each skate in the 2017-2018 season and 2018-2019, I became a bigger and bigger fan of not only her skating, but of her quiet, calm demeanor and her gracious personality.

(content warning: death, depression)

I am a high-achieving student at an insanely high-caliber university in the US, and sometimes I can’t even believe that I’m here. I’m from a very rural area, and to find myself suddenly excelling among the smartest kids in the country both surprised and overwhelmed me. While some might see it as a stretch, I like to compare my situation to Alina’s - with hard work and determination, one can achieve anything. However, like Alina, I have recently been having struggles. My younger brother passed away two months ago, and I found my entire life falling apart quite suddenly. Grades started to drop, homesickness soared, desperation set in, and before I knew it I was extremely depressed and nowhere near having the amount of fun I was having before.

But whenever I think of giving up, I always think of Alina. For various reasons that are mostly speculation on our end, she hasn’t quite been having the same season she has last year (but I mean, c’mon, she’s still doing amazing and I wish people would stop saying she’s had a “bad” season because this is far from it). From her standpoint, though, I’m sure she feels like this season is definitely not turning out quite as nicely as she’d hoped. But look at her tenacity! Her perseverance! Her desire, and sheer love for the sport! She trains far from her family, flies to competition after competition, is practicing quads, and is developing into an classy, gracious young woman. She takes each victory with humility, and each defeat with poise. I admire her strength, her bravery, and her determination. I feel as though the last year has been very tumultuous for both Alina and I, with very high highs and low lows. It feels nice to have someone to admire, to look up to, to mold yourself after, even though I’m a good 3 years older than Alina. I’m grateful for her skating, as it was one of the only constants in my life this past year. I hope she continues for a long time.

And, of course, I’m so grateful to you guys! You really keep things positive here, and you never know when someone might need that in their lives. Just as Alina has been a constant in my life, this thread's devotion to positivity while celebrating our Olympic Champion has gotten me through many sad moments. I hope this thread never changes  I can’t promise to post often, but as you can see, I’m certainly capable of posting long  . Thank you for your time, and good luck to Alina at the World Championships!

Welcome. I hope this place is nice place for you. I'm sorry with what you've been through recently and hope this forum and Alina brings some sunshine into your life.

I love seeing her dad liking all the new Puma pics on Team Zagitova's IG. He must be so proud beyond words.

I dont understand how a young girl as Alina says that she doesnt have friends (if I understood correctly form her latest interview).
She seems to have a friendly nature (although maybe shy with new people), but still...

maybe that's how she prefers it. she seems comfortable and friendly around people probably just doesn't think it's necessary to be best friends with everyone

But there is just a very small entrance to the appartment and then three doors. Alina's bedroom, kitchen and her grandmother's bedroom. Is the bathroom on the hallway or is the bathroom in the appartment and she has to share the bedroom with her grandmother?

Sorry, I was just a little shocked by seeing these living conditions since she has probably earned enough money to buy a small, but better appartment (or to rent another appartment).

Don’t forget that Alina is still a minor. All the money she gained she gives it to her parents until her majority.
It remains me of Anastasia Grishina who was robbed by her own mother for not wanting to return her money.
