Alina Zagitova

Consider that Alina spends some 6-8 hours in Khrustalnyi AND then she goes to Navka to train for the show. When she does even sleep?

And school in the morning, since she is in her 11th and final year and needs to pass the exams with good results to get into higher education.

At least she won't waste her time on social media and message boards like we do ;-)

This instalment of Navka's show is only two weeks of hard work, but what might come next? A tour of Japan when Navka can strike the deal?

No doubt this show got a huge boost because of Alina's participation. Averbukh's show will get a boost too because of Medvyedeva conquering the unexpected challenges in Nationals. Both shows, and both skaters' images, will rise because of the 'drama' surrounding their stars.

If a Alina trained for Russian Nationals like she normally would have I think she would have been in second place today. But it didn't happen and I hope she's happy with what she's doing and could really give her body a rest in the near future.

I'm not assuming Alina would struggle, definitely not because "she can't win". There are many skaters that "can't win" on every competition, after all, and they compete. Alina would definitely be among those who can medal, at least.

I'm glad Alina is happy, she made this choice of all, but it's not the "Alina's only and permanent choice". Again, this should be taken as a break or vacation of a kind (with a load of work to do and learn), not as an emergency exit.

I felt weird because Rusnats without her is losing part of the feeling.

I kind of have to agree with her strugling because she can’t win, though. You are right, not many skaters can actually win and they skate, but she is not any skater. She is champion, she is used to winning. She can deal with lost, she is sl wise in that matter, but one thing is lost a competition and the other doesn’t have a shot to win. Of course she wants to keep winning or have an oportunity to do so. Even from her recent interviews after her decision, I feel like one of the reasons for it is right this. She want to be able to winning and for this, she need to practice on different things.

I’m not at all saying she pulled out of Nats because she doesn’t wanna be beated, of course not. She was strugling in long term now and honestly, even if she would never come back, good for her, because I don’t remember the last time she looked this happy. :luv17: She seemed to be happy before but in comparison how she looks now, it’s Like she was missing her spark. It’s beautiful seeing her like this again. But her inabbility of win due to missing TES is for sure one of the reasons for her stuggles.

Here is a new video from today's performance.

One of her jumps didn't turn out but she was much steadier in the first over- head lift. First time I've seen her do it with no visible 'balance check' or wobble. :) The second lift, a/k/a the 'let go of arms' lift, seems to have been replaced with a lovely pair spiral. Looks much more enjoyable for Alina. :)

For the fans sharing these videos with us - THANK YOU SO MUCH! They are lovely and so far I've seen something slightly different in each performance. :) And as always it is lovely to see Alina genuinely enjoying herself.

These shots are breathtaking -

Recalling the highlights of the past year , January 2019:

1. For some reason, dragged the bear herself, which was twice her size. Baby boss, what can you do. ⠀
2. Incredibly gorgeous picture of Alina from Euro 2019 from Getty images. ⠀
3. The kids drew the banner “Alina Super!” themselves!⠀
4. Watched a horror movie with Sonya Samodurova sitting on a bear. ⠀
5. Collected so many toys and called it a “plush flash mob” ⠀
6. And the next day there was a fiery Lara Croft ⠀
7. After Lara, she went to negotiate with the president about a joint photo, and why not? ⠀
8. Negotiated successfully. ⠀
9. Beamed at the banquet ✨
10. Appeared on banners in one of the Japanese subway stations.

Thank you so much Free Skater. I like watching these new videos because it seems like they change it up a little in each performance.

Cheers to Ondrej for not giving up on the second overhead lift. :hap10: Even if Alina won't let go of his arms.

Gleikhengauz said when he co-commented the National Championships gala exhibition he will visit the show as soon as he gets back to Moscow and is very much looking forward to seeing it.

Of course the show for Alina is a ongoing work in progress. She'll change things around a little every day to find what works best for her. So after a week or so would be the best time to visit the show with the cast at its technical and artistic peak, before inevitable some fatigue sets in.

From what I've gathered from the e-media, the Navka show has been well received, not only because of Alina's participation. It has lifted stage technology and total audience entertainment to a new level and the huge Megasport can barely hold all the special effects. Plus it seems the ice floor is almost maximum size, which really gives the group numbers this extra dimension.

Eteri told Rusfed that Alina sent her a message that she's already missing competing.. :yahoo: :hap10:
well... that break ended quicker than I thought it would :laugh2:

For almost 4 years in a row, this is the first planned competition that Alina is missing. A huge achievement by the way. It is not surprising to develop such feelings so quick. The quick return though depends I'm afraid of a lot of other parameters.
