Alina Zagitova

Masaru's teeth certainly remember Owlina.
(I think someone who visits this FF has an avatar of Masaru with Owlina.)

I actually was thinking of Owlina recently....
When they had the story of the little owl who was rescued from the Rockefeller Christmas Tree.
A happy ending for the little owl, not so much for Owlina.
Owlina is a Zagistan Legend!

It's time for a Tale of Two Narcissists.

It's been more than a month since Narcissist #1 interviewed Alina when she came to Match TV to accept her award for most popular athlete. He was an absolute jerk to her. He's already done multiple interviews about this interview in the immediate aftermath of this controversy. He is still milking it for attention. :rolleye: Is there really nothing else of interest going on in his life?

Narcissist #2 is none other than Elena Rodina. She has made a fascinating transition from publicly wishing harm on Alina during competitions to taking IG photos with her. (Imo, Alina was too polite to say no.) Now she is one of Alina's most protective fans. :rolleye: No, really! She actually claimed credit for being the person who yelled out for Guberniev to get away from Alina when he approached her at the ice show. :cautious: It's a brilliant strategy of 'if you can't beat them, join them.' Except no-one is buying it. Sorry, Rodina.

I wasn't bothered by whoever yelled at him, (because I was certainly thinking it) but others have correctly noted that it reflects badly on other fans. :(

I'm adding my thoughts in emojis & italics to these quotes from the interview posted on Sports.ru. -

Match TV commentator Dmitry Guberniev spoke about the criticism after an interview with Olympic champion Alina Zagitova.

- There was more criticism after the broadcast with Zagitova than after football and biathlon combined. Feel the power of figure skating hate?

- I felt it for a long time. Then I hosted one show in Moscow and saw how people greeted me. It was especially amusing when I approached Zagitova at the end and a couple of stupid fans started shouting: "Get away from her!" And I approached Zagitova, because I had a task - to offer her classes with Svetlana Makarova.

Zagitova said that she had good speech teachers. I answered her that in that case we are waiting for her breakthrough on the air. But after two or three classes with me, Zagitova would break all records.

:rolleye:

- Offer her a course?

- I offered it for a long time. I won't even take money from her for it. Of course, I will take from its representatives - after all, my services are expensive.

:palmf:

- If you evaluate from 1 to 10 the level of her current skills in stage speech - how much will it be?

- I will not answer this question, because there is journalistic ethics. I will not discuss my colleague.

tell me more about these 'journalistic ethics' of which you speak.

- But on the air it seemed that you want to "sink" your colleague.

- I made an interesting broadcast so that everyone could discuss it and be interested in everyone. Zagitova was also interested, although she was slightly stunned. I did my job and I think this interview was 11 out of 10.

are you seriously proud of yourself for causing an 18 year old girl to be stunned in a live tv interview?:censored:

- She said "thank you" after the broadcast?

- Sure. She said: "I would like to speak like you." I answered her: “Speak up soon, don't worry, Alina,” Guberniev said.

:poop:

1) What kind of chump gives "interviews" about another interview he did. He probably looks in the mirror and sees a real "he-man" staring back at him.
2) Alina's father is way too nice. If I were him, I'd make sure that Guber-whatever's next "interview" would be with jaw wired shut.
2A) Since it's Guber-something, I think Alina's grandmother could accomplish this task too, maybe even Sabina.
3) Rodina - I think she is nothing but an opportunist trying to latch onto whatever she thinks will get her the most attention.
4) I used to think a certain coach who once bet on Alina to win the OGM might have been beneficial to her.
5) Since then, I have found out this coach and his wife were "joking" with Guber-uber about his interview with Alina
6) Now I'd have to say thank goodness Alina never made THAT move. She'd be better off being trained by the Zamboni driver.

Ah well. Part 1,000,000,000 of a continuing story. In a room full of "adults", Alina is the only one who doesn't act like a pouting toddler who lost his/her binky.

I'm kind of hoping that Alina is absorbing this entire post Olympic experience and making careful notes about all the people she never wants to turn into. That will be its own kind of victory.

The fact that she no longer wants to be a coach and now no longer wants to be just a journalist is very telling. I'm impressed that she wants to go into producing. To be the power behind the scenes. Or if she ends up producing herself on her own show, she will have creative control over things. Smart girl.

Guber-nothing wants to give her lessons in speaking.

As long as Alina does the exact opposite of what this clown does - in every aspect of life - she will always be a winner.

Alina in the 12th episode of the Ice Age tv show

"Sparkling! This is how we saw Alina this time."

"Tatyana Volosozhar suggested Alina tried on a veil. But the skater is not yet ready for such gifts..."

"A personal master class from Alina Zagitova is the dream of any little girl who has skates. The daughter of Olympic champion Alexei Yagudin, Michelle, works with Alina on the same ice and uses her official position before the start of filming."

Really long, very interesting interview with Alexei Yagudin. Definitely worth reading through an online translator. The part about the Russian judges reminded me of the scores Alina received at the Olympics from the Russian judges. Also he had a lot of really sweet things to say about Alina and her journey on Ice Age. -

Sport24.ru together with PricewaterhouseCoopers will publish their annual list of Top 50 Most Successful Russian Athletes - last year Alina was 15th, this year she's in Top 10, according to Sport24's preview.
I'm glad all of her hard work is paying off. She deserves this.

Here's the video of Yagudin's interview -

I read it...

my only thought was, is he really that dumb and self-absorbed, or just plain blind to be that oblivious to how stupid all of this is making him look?
He wanted to make Alina look lost and uncomfortable, instead he just keeps making a fool of himself.
Seriously, yet another time he‘s trying to clinch to Alina and somehow make her look bad, instead it backfires back on him.

Sorry, but him judging the behavior of Alina’s fans, by what Rodina shouted in the crowd - you can’t make that up, how ridiculous is this?

One thing I will never understand is why this middle-aged man is so fixated on a teenager, trying to bring her down for so long now. I can’t fathom how empty one‘s life must be to do that.
