That is part of the reasonable and decent defense of Alina. The author is noting how Chen pronounced Guillaume's name (and also Morgan Cipres name) during her commentary on the FS event at the Olympics. She was probably going for the true French pronunciation and just missed the mark.
There is a transcript of Y. Chen's commentary of FS at the 2018 Olympics on another forum. To put it more delicately than Y. Chen herself would do when giving a critique, this was not her finest moment - mistakes were made. More than a few. And this is not an 18 year old girl on her first real television job speaking for 30 minutes a week on a fun FS show. This is an experienced journalist with a long career commentating for the Olympics.

Yolanda is anything but a professional journalist or even commentator, she should’ve had some of that self-check before agreeing to commentate FS. There are many other cases of her unprofessionalism, not just mispronounced names of FS stars, but plain and simple she even managed to butcher the name of the musical as famous as „the Phantom of the opera“...
If a professional journalist wants to share his opinion, I believe he could do so with more respect towards his colleague. Right now she just sounds jealous she didn’t get this job (well thanks to 1TV producers, at least we won’t hear her butchering names again).

The point of the Ice Age show IS to have figure skaters be the hosts and regular celebrities as skaters. The reverse of roles is an inherent part of of the show, only for some seasons they changed it to have a celebrity also be a co-host, when a figure skater couldn’t be hired. So whatever she thinks, she somehow missed over a decade of what this show is about.
Slutskaya been on the job for a while, since she was Russia‘s most famous female skater for a while. Of course producers would want some change and have another famous ladies figure skater to fill on that role, especially considering Irina has moved to being a sports news anchor.
yes, also in life people without traditional education go way further than those with it sometimes. Actors without formal acting education secure acting jobs, singers without training in academies can become successful performers, dancers who didn’t attend Bolshoi still achieve success in their fields. In some fields education isn’t strictly necessary to begin with.
