All Things Ice Dance: Canadian

Weaver and Poje probably want their free dance to be seen as often as possible. Apparently it is a new departure for them. Sorry I can't provide a link, but some of you may have access to their fan thread on another board. I can hardly wait to see it.

Anyone going to The Ex to see Virtue/Moir tomorrow? After reading this tweet, am wondering about their performances:

joel geleynse music ‏@joelgeleynse
in rehearsals for #cne2012 bohemian fun with scott and Tessa and acrobats and jugglers and trapeze artists...

Don't worry, they won't be on the trapeze....;) This show typically features a top-notch skating headliner (e.g. in previous years Joannie, S/P, Elvis); it'll be a blend of skating and acrobatic numbers. It's a great way to bring figure skating to a broader audience and create more interest/excitement about the sport, IMO. They participated in a similar show at the Calgary Stampede in the summer after the Olympics.

I have not participated in the great discussion up to now about the canadian ice dancing, but after just checking the W/P article about their new FD I have to. I must say I am floored. After all the romantic dances they have done in the last 4 years, call it a swift change of direction or what? "Je suis malade" was my favorite program last year.

They will take a major risk i am afraid, i just pray it will pay off.A change in style had to be done, to show versatility, but I just hope they won't push it so far that the judges will have hard time comprehending it (a la C/P lin their last season).
I trust Pasquale to be able to translate a contemporary music to the ice,but I think it will be a major challenge for both him and Kaitlin and Andrew. They worked with a very good contemporary dancer, Allison from SYTYCD (2).

They will use selections from The LXD (The Legion of Extraordinary Dacers), you can see a sample here:

Of course we don't know which piece of music they selected from the collection, and how the choreography will look like, but the concept will be truly unique, surely.

Well , I do know this about W/P..when they set out to tackle something, they don't hold back. The year they had the flamenco OD ,it was well thought out and beautifully executed ..who can forget their2011 SD..and Je Suis Malade was just pitch perfect.( so many might have overdone it )

I'm mightily intrigued by this choice. LXD are simply the coolest, but I'd expect choreographically we should look more to their Choreography Lady , Allison Holker :

Music wise , I'd like it if they used Yellow , or Bernini's Angel , but there's a lot to choose from.

Speaking of Music, I'll be keeping a sharp ear out while watching all the dance tomorrow ,it was a little hard to tell from pj's video , but I think the last cut in G/P's FD is one W/L used in their Balkan FD when they were competing ( I loved that program.)

So far , on the skatebuzz blowout , we've had SD's at BC/YT..and I do like O/W's SD ..seems like a natural for them, and lots of fun... and in Jr's , Edwards and Pang were looking sooo ready for the season. In fact , I liked all of the W/L teams' programs ... but those two stood out as most polished at this early stage.

^This is one of the things I like so much about W/P, they don't hold back (at least not anymore) and commit 100% to the theme of their dances.

colleen, Did you recognize the music O&W used for their SD?

I just know it is some kind of Wild West themed program?

And herios, welcome back!

Thanks Doris

My absence in part was due to a virus in our wireless network at home, which we didn't figure out why some sites became unaccessable, Golden skate being among those...this was happening most of the winter, by the time we fixed it, the season as mostly over!

Anyhow, I just posted on the summer compettion thread under Thornhill, the SD for P/I and R/H

Now there is a truly frightening thought. A virus aimed at keeping posters off GS. :brrrrrr: I'm just shivering. I know it's off topic, but what did the sites your virus wouldn't let you visit have in common, if anything?

herios ... thanks so much for posting those..The lack of Ustream archives for the COS dance has been driving me nuts all evening...Furthermore O/W's FD isn't on either..and E/P didn't skate their FD in the end....

Is this some sort of "stragedy" ? ;)

More like tragedy

BTW, P&I's complete music info was on the skate canada profile:

Part 1: La Foule (Edith Piaf)
Part 2: Milord (Edith Piaf)
Free Dance
Part 1: The Crisis (Ennio Morricone)
Part 2: 1900's Madness #1 (Ennio Morricone)
Part 3: Danny's Blues (Ennio Morricone)
Part 4: 12th Street Rag (Euday L. Bowman)
Part 5: Playing Love (from The Legend of 1900) (Ennio Morricone)

It's now official that P/I are full time with DSC

I'm happy to see that they believe in their abilities, and are ambitious for the future. It's a giant step forward, and I expect to see great things from them before too long.

 I went to their profile looking for music and didn't even think to see who their coaches were listed as. Fantastic news for them. I already like the direction theyre going in this season (I was at Thornhill, and they were fabulous), and staying on at DSC will surely help them build that even further.

:party2:.Well , I wanted a string of these guys ,but my computer's glitching.

:party2::party2::party2:

You can have only five smileys altogether in a post, so if your string had more than five that's too many. (My string can have only three because of the smiley in the quote and the one at the end of this sentence. :)

If for some reason your computer balks at clicking on a smiley over and over (in Go Advanced mode) you can always put them in by hand.
