Alysa Liu

It seems to me that all the talk about Alysa's ability is directed at something outside of skating. I think her greatest strength is not falling.
But I can't quite get over her as a skater: small jumps, skating on two feet, and slowness. Seeing her skate after Mone was a shock.
bizarre comment to make in her fanfest, when its obvious you are just mad she beat your favorites. Get over it, she is an 2x Olympic Champion, and she very much deserved it, more than any other skater there.:giggle:

If you feel the need to post these sentiments, it belongs in the Edge Replay Lounge, not the Fanfest.

its so surreal she is now olympic champion. i remember watching her in stars on ice 2022 and i could tell she wanted to be done so badly. she did not want to be out on the ice at all. however at that time in her retirement announcement thread on here i got roasted for saying she was only 16 and i could see her coming back after a break in the future. welp, look what happened. her story is incredible. i'll never forget being in the arena when she won her world title in Boston last year, the energy was unreal. i was volunteering backstage and watching on a monitor along with other skaters, coaches and volunteers- everyone was so happy for her. we couldn't believe it. she is a completely different person and skater than she was pre retirement and i'm so proud of everything she's accomplished personally and in skating. its so inspiring.

i see so much of myself in her as a young skater and its so fulfilling to see her win the olympics and be a top skater while doing things her way, being so authentic to herself with no fear of being different and not fitting the mold. it's what i needed growing up in this sport where i was not accepted or embraced for being different, rather shamed for it, and seeing her being so loved by the skating community and the world just for that reason is incredible. we need more of it and i hope she's inspired other skaters, young and old, to be themselves in a sport (and a world) where being shoved in a box they do not fit in to make others comfortable is the norm.

Congrats to Alysa! 🏅🎉 I'm so thrilled for her. Her skates and attitude at the Olympics were the highlight of the Games for me. And it's a kick seeing the world embrace her the way I loved her when I first saw a tiny skater landing triples with consistency and joy way back when. She is truly special! 🥰
