I thought that Kat = Chris were the best = Elliot was ok = Paris ?? = Taylor I don't know what it is about him but I just can't stand him = and Kelly was really bad = America voted and bye bye Kelly = she didn't even get a chance to sing a last song = she kept talking and talking

cb
Better she talked and talked than butchered UM AGAIN. Somewhere Bobby Hatfield  was going WTF was THAT?

I think David Foster heard completely different singers... because they seemed much more at ease with him (even when he was being all hard nose) than they did on the stage... not sure what that was all about...

Ravyn - Clay Aiken did the song justice in season 2

I have noticed this with every guest singing "coach" that has helped the Idols. I wonder if they get paid for giving each idol a little "hype" before they sing because what comes out on the stage performance is much different. The only two singers last night who gave a decent performance were Elliot and Chris. The rest were HORRIBLE. I am sure David Foster was cringing when he heard the results on the show. Simon sure was.

I was surprised that I enjoyed last night's show as much as I did. My favorite moment wasn't on stage, though - it was when Katherine and Andrea did their little duet. I was impressed that she didn't seem the least bit intimidated, just started singing like Andrea Bocelli drops by her house a few times a week for lunch and a sing-along. I wish her performance had been as impressive, but it certainly wasn't as bad as the judges made it out to be. The dress was a braver choice than the song, though!
Paris and Taylor seemed really mediocre to me last night, but so were the song choices. ("The Way We Were"?! Really, Paris. I'll bet your mom isn't even old enough to remember that movie.)
Kellie was atrocious, but that high note helped my ear infection - my ear finally popped when it started to bleed. But, more importantly, can we just declare an immediate and permanent moratorium on "Unchained Melody"? No one is ever going to top the Righteous Brothers version. People should really stop trying. I'm not even going to follow that with an "in my humble opinion". Just stop covering "Unchained Melody", people. Now. Please?
My favorite performances were from Elliott and Chris, but can someone tell me how the heck Chris has lasted as long as he has without learning how to sing from his diaphragm? That may explain his raspy vocal quality - he's been making shredded wheat out of his vocal cords for years. He should lay down to sing more often.
And I think I'd like some of what Paula's having! Why should the judges get all the good drugs, huh?
Rave
Yeah, "Unchained Melody" is to singing what "Carmen" is to skating. I liked Chris and Elliott's performances the best, as I pretty much have every week. My old vocal coach used to have me lay down and sing also - it helps.

The only people I think are good are Elliot, Chris and sometimes Kat. Otherwise I am disappointed with the whole season. Paris sings well, but sometimes she just plain oversings. I don't know how Kelli lasted this long.

Piel - I think the "coaches" can have some say... IIRC Taylor and Kellie had both been told by either Rod or *brain fart - guy who Clay is likend to all the time, has been on multiple seasons* that they should choose a different song and they listened...

I think, though, that it's more performance... I just don't think Randy was into anyone last night

It's about time that Kellie went. She really messed up that song but America finally got it right and voted her off! Paris or Taylor is next.......to be continued.

Besides Kellie leaveing who were the other 2 in the bottom 3?? Taylor I hope. He justttttttttttt irritates the H_ll out of me!!!

It seems like the stars can be blamed to some extent. David Foster probably is saying why was I there?? David Foster was a big promoter for Josh Groban, and can you imagine listening to  Josh Groban:love: and Andre Bocelli and then those guys. I think that Barry Manilow, Kenny Rogers and Stevie Wonder were the best.

Dee there was only a bottom two Kelli and Paris. I don't get why people don't like Paris. Next week's theme is songs the year they were born which is usually a snooze because the idols have to be under 30 and everyone know there hasn't been any really good music recorded since the late 70's, LOL:biggrin: . Where oh where is my Motown Night? This competition needs a big dose of R&B, IMO. The next eliminations are going to be tough. There is something I like about all of the remaining idols. Taylor though spastic at times is very likeable and entertaining. Katharine, Chris, and Paris are all going to do well whether or not they win. So, my votes from now on go to Elliott. I think he will benefit more from winning than the others.

I have a feeling Paris is the one that is in most danger... Elliot might not make it either...

then again my predictions have been all over the map this season so what do I know? ;)

Taylor for AI5, baby! ;)

actually...i really liked Kat...the judges were completely wrong with her performance. for a whiteney houston song...that was amazing! a bit of pitchi problems, but it was really nice...i really hope that kat has consistent performances though....i jsut really enjoy the quality of her voice. it really is nice. mmm...taylor has G2G. Chris is obviously going to stick around. Paris is awesome for a 16 (???) year old...or 17? but i think she's going to go to...i don't think she should be around for too long....i think she'll have a really great future if she sticks at it though

My votes is with Elliot and Chris a close second. They are the only two in the contest who can actually sing. I just don't get what the big deal is over Katherine and Paris. Paris is too stuck on herself and shouts too much. Katherine does not know how to emote. She tries to sing like the big divas - Streisand and Celine and Houston - does not have the pipes for it.

I will be glad when American Ido is over and Canadian Idol begins. Canadian Idol is better.

Why is that Lad? Better judges, better host, or is the singing talent in Canada better?

Piel - I think it has to do with personal preference, I prefer a lot of the AI talent to that of the Canadian... *shrugs*

I think this top 5 is the strongest AI has ever had.

Taylor

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm starting to warm up to Taylor's vocals. Showing his versatility with a ballad - "Something" and an upbeat fun number - "Play That Funky Music" - on the last show, he was entertaining, IMHO.

I haven't watched Idol recently but I always thought Taylor had a unique voice (out of al the contestants) and I always liked him.

Is it sad that I was doing Kurt Browning's choreography when Tay sang Funky Music??? lol

anyway... Paris or Elliot could have gone last night and I wouldn't have been upset at all...

so thankful Taylor's made top 4 :) that almost gets him a recording contract no matter what! *boogies*

It was good to see Paris go and now on to Elliot. I like this guy but really hate to watch him sing. Katherine will be in the finals although she better do better than she did last week. Chris is loosing his voice and Taylor is just Taylor. He will do well just on his great personality.

When Elliot is booted next week (based on recent votes) before screeching Chris and Tourrette's Taylor, my season's over. No, they won't miss me, but I won't be missing anything either! :)
