No, it's not sad at all, Toni, and thanks for the mental picture! You should have seen me, leaping off the couch to dance...and sing...and move to the groovin'. I must have looked like Paula Rehabdul after a few too many cocktails. People think Tay's dancing is spastic, all I can say is they should see me!

Elliot drove me insane this week.

I really felt that he was trying too hard with "On Broadway". That song is such an easy song to sing. It comes out sounding nice no matter who sings it. But, and I can't think of any way to put this, I guess I think he "oversang" the song.

I really think that Kat and Chris should be the final two at this point. Elliot has a great voice, but not a lot of performance quality. I hope that Chris' voice will be back in full force next week.

I liked Paris when she first auditioned, but after a while she wore on me.

Taylor, he seems like a sweetheart, but I just don't get him. I think that he is amusing as a personality, but will not be a sucess as a recording artist. Mom tends to say that Taylor is what you listen to in a bar once you've had a few, before you'd had a few, you wouldn't stay. Nothing against the people who like him, but he's not my style.

I really think that the 16 year old crowd should wait. I am pretty sure that Simon has a contract until, like, 2010. I'm not being age-ist (is that a word) here, I'm 17. I think that they would fair better in the competiton and be able to handle the pressure better. I have told nearly the same thing to many kids at my theatre. Go to prom, go to graduation, enjoy being in Highschool. Broadway will still be there when you are done. I feel the same about these kids. Wait until you are older, things may go better for you then.

When Elliot is booted next week (based on recent votes) before screeching Chris and Tourrette's Taylor, my season's over. No, they won't miss me, but I won't be missing anything either!

Elliot booted next week? I hope you are wrong!!! The Taylor man just has to go next. He is embarrassing to watch - always does the same old schtick. How much mileage can he get out of a Ray Charles impression anyway?

Elliot is the only singer in the bunch. Chris is okay but he is in the wrong genre. He should be trying out for the Rock star show. Katherine tries too hard to sing like Celine or Barbara which is way out of her league. She can go next, but of course that won't happen - this is a popularity based vote, not talent based. I am with you if Elliot goes then the show is over. Enough said.

I think Taylor can get away with teh schtick as long as all of the people who "dont get him" can get away with reminding us that her performances are embarassing you have to have someone to annoy you, eh?

If you can't STAND to watch him, just download his songs (there are several sites that record and share the performances each week) he has a GREAT voice, that would definitely do well as a recording one...

All four deserve top 2, as long as Elliot gets his nerves in check... anymore needless vibrato and I'm going to lose it! UGH!

I often hear it debated, what an AI is. IMO, it is the WHOLE package, how they sell themselves as well.

I guess a good way to sum it would be that the only 2 that I feel didn't fit the bill COMPLETELY, and only one of those had a better voice then the rest but absolutely no package to back it up. Clay not AS nice of voice, but more complete as an "Idol."

Fanny is now a great role model and brought some issues to light with America, but at the time, but WAS she really a complete Idol at the time? This is way more questionable then RS, and I really go both ways with Fantasia, just mentioning the questionability of past shows and WHY they were really chosen.

RS may have one of the best voices that "anyone" has ever heard, but setting a Idol standard to look at him? Sorry it is just reality. Outside of the fantastic voice I don't even think he has that great of charisma which can eliminate the need for "good looks" - like Taylor, not super good looking or anything, but seems cool as hell. He moves around so much, but Ruben barley moved and he would be swet'n his butt off - work to watch. I am not trying to blast him for being the weight that he is, whatever when it comes to talent. But I am not under the impression that talent is the only thing important when you are supposedly a "IDOL" - that comes with a whole set of standards like it or not.

This is the one thing that really bugs me about Simon. Here he was saying we shouldn't judge based on Rub's looks (during the finals of that ser.), yet at the auditions he is constantly cracking jokes about peoples weight. What a hypocrite.

I think that is what makes this one in particular, interesting and purely a REAL contest of "IDOLS." Taylor, Chris, and Kat all have a "star quality" about them. And as far as defining "Idol" goes, this is the FIRST TIME EVER that there have been more then one with the complete package.

Now I completely agree with you on the needless vibrato, definitly part of what ruined "On Broadway" for me,

Now I'm sure I never said that his performances are embarassing, so you can't be quoting me. I understand why he got where he is, but I don't know if I agree with it. It's one of those things, I don't know quite why I don't like him, but I don't. I didn't like Jon Peter Lewis's schtick but then I don't think he had much of a voice either. (My best friend loved him though)

Now I thought that Clay had a wonderful voice. One of the things that makes me a huge season 2 fan is that, regardless of image, Clay and Ruben had amazing voices. (Though I am a Clay fan) I still think that some of the best voices were in season 2.

I too prefer Clay's voice, but from a "Musical standpoint" It is not AS "one in a mill." Clay also IMO was the only "complete package" that season.

Please notice the AS in both comments JUST for clarity's sake, meaning "I do but...." Not mad just trying to be fully understood.

Reading you loud and clear. I don't think he had the complete package at the begining (oy, the hair) but I do think that he was by the end. Or was closer by the end.

Clay wasn't one in a million? Uh...... right. That's why Ruben was considered the next Luther Vandross and Clay had no comparrison. Ruben's voice has been had before. Clay's not so much. Sure you heard the whole crap of "you'd be better for broadway" (which I find to be a bigger compliment than what Simon wanted it to be.)

Anyway what's done is done... they both had their 15 minutes of fame... Clay supposedly has a new album in teh works... but after how many months of talk and how many push backs where is it? and I haven't heard ANYTHING out of the Ruben camp (not that I'm looking for either when it comes to news anymore)


Why I think Clay was more of a role model was because he had such high moral values... unlike most of the male artists these days he respects women, he doesn't want to kill or maim everything in sight, and education is important. He's clean cut. I liked him then, and now. Doesn't mean I drool over every mention of him though lol. (not anymore anyway, those of you who remember my obsession - don't remind me, 'kay? LOL)


Theatre girl - I wasn't really responding to anyone in particular, just those in general who have such an issue with the spastic style of Taylor that then translate to equal to singing even though they say it's "about the singing". I know not everyone is going to agree with me but it does get tiresome as the problem with Tay is not his voice, but his dancing.


Now on to this week : is it an Elvis theme, or are they just going to learn about the King?

acording to a report that was a song that he wanted to sing during one of the weekly themes and he was told that it didn't fit the theme and would not be allowed to use it. At least I *think* that was the song. I'll have to try and find that link again.

I still have "Play that Funky Music" on vinyl...on a 45.
(Note: for those of you under 30, "45s" were very small records that only played one song on each side. What do you mean, "what's a record?"?! Go ask your moms! )

There is another post on her that I don't feel understood my thought there though, for I do think of Clay's voice as one in a million, that is why I was so avid about the "AS." Maybe just yank'n my chain..who knows?

I do think Clay has a rare voice, just not AS rare AS RS has, as a matter of fact there is a kid coming from my old High School that sounds very much like Clay, and I personally would wish to have a voice more like Clay's rofl: if my voice wasn't so fantastic already! j/k). So basically if people can't read everything said then I guess they won't get the point, OH well. I've responded and then went back retracting, think "how in the world did I miss that, they did say, or din't say that. Must be the brain filling in the spaces between the letter, who cares - it just happens sometimes. That is the beauty of the board, you can read twice, or go back and get a clearer understanding - maybe even retract a comment or two.

The poster, I believe that misunderstood was the same one to correct someone on a thread I started about the "cutest pro lady" (I know cheese, but I'd like to know so whatever and got a number of responses ). They commented that Sasha was the "cutest skater" and the tread was clearly saying "Pro." So maybe another reason I was trying to be understood is because there are clearly misunderstandings on the boards frequently - but I definitely was not being snide. IHYU:yes: I also like Clay better then Ruben and hate to be thought of thinking a certain way when I think the opposite, that's all!

As for being able to read posts, yours are very long, in a conversational type forum it's very difficult to understand a meaning. Especially since there is no voice inflection, facial expression, or other body language. Typos and other problems get in the way.

And if I'm not the poster you refer to - cryptic messages, oy! - then I guess I shouldn't go on the defensive. But if I am, then I have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to cute/Sasha/pro ?? Which is why I have a feeling you're not talking about me, but I'm the only one that disagreed with your statement on Clay, so deductive reasoning has me thinking I am. Call me on it by name, everyone else does, I'm "big enough" to handle it.

What are you talking about? Is there problem?

You didn't disagree with anything, at best misunderstood which is clearly a chance of being my fault as well. The fact that I didn't say who it was, was due to the fact it didn't matter, because that was not what was important. I , YES ME, just FELT LIKE I was misunderstood.
