American Idol - Season 7

I thought the voters did a great job for a change ... I agreed with everyone who went home. Sorry JonnyCoop, I thought Colten was a creeper!

So did my cousin; I think she was appalled by that "tongue thing" he was doing before the commercial break before he sang.....

OMG, David Archuleta was amazing! I have never heard that song sung better. After I saw his mom and dad crying I almost teared up..
Surprisingly, I have Chikezie in second tonight. He was the bomb! I actually thought he might sing SHAFT..LOL Then I have David Cook in third.. He is definatly the "rocker" this season.. I hope the grils bring it tomorrow like the guys did! Based on tonight Luke needs to HIT THE ROAD! That was horrible! I'm sure Freddy Mercury is rolling in his grave after hearing Luke butcher that Queen classic..LOL Also, Jason Yeager needs to go. I don't get him at all?!

Last week, I thought David Archuleta was overrated, but tonight, wow! He has such a pure tone to his voice and great control. And Paula's comments were so sweet in disturbing....and creepy way.

Gotta agree on the previous posters assessment of David Arlchuleta singing Imagine. It was a beautiful performance, great vocals, he showed maturity beyond his years.
Chikezie was much improved over last week, and I'm glad I now know the real pronounciation and story behind his name.
I also enjoyed the other two David's tonight.

David will win this competition easily.

I do hope that Michael Johns and a couple of the girls step up and make it a real race, though.

Yeah I rooting for David A. He's got my vote.

What's really weird is during Luke Menard's intro that one of my sis' fave people from high school was in Luke's acapella band. I knew he had bloomington normal connections, but I didn't realize it was that close to home lol

I think I voted at least ten times for David A. He has the purest voice and he is so humble. I love that he's part of this competition.!!!!! 42

Well, between the judge's comments and the comments here so far, I must DEFINITELY be on some weird plane tonight because I must not have been hearing what everyone else was hearing. I think it's going to be a tough call as to who goes home, because no one was out and out HIDEOUS, (at least IMHO), which may be a first for this stage in the game.

My take:

Michael -- Not bad. Could have been worse. Could have been better, too.

Jason C -- I actually REALLY LIKED IT. May have been my favorite of the evening. I do agree if he stays around another week (I do have an odd feeling he might not), he needs to ditch the guitar. It can be construed as (a) a gimmick, or (b) a crutch. I suspect it might be the latter.

Luke -- I have NO idea what to make of that one. BIZARRE song choice. I didn't hate it --- I might even have really liked it, but I'm still trying to figure that out... (It was actually kind of like watching a really offbeat free dance -- takes a while sometimes to figure out what you actually thought of the thing...)

Robbie -- To me, that just didn't really work. I was rather disappointed.

Danny -- I cannot possibly imagine why on earth anyone would choose that song, but I actually liked the vocal on it. Good job.

David H -- He was one of my personal bottom 3 last week, and he did nothing to move out of it. Judges may have loved it, but I personally could have well done without it.

Jason Y -- MAJOR improvement over last week; this one too is in the running for my favorite of the night, actually. Again, however, the judges and I have a major difference of opinion....

Chikize (I can pronounce it, I just can't spell it....) MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR improvement over last week; he was fantastic. [It might have helped that I'd never heard that song in my life and had nothing to compare it to, but it was still a fine vocal.]

David C -- This one didn't work for me, either. It didn't help that I've always hated that song anyway.

David A -- OK. I'm gonna get it for this, by several indications, but here goes. First of all, I have to state right off the bat that I am NOT one of these people who thinks that if you have the unmitigated GALL to sing "Imagine", you need to be lined up against a wall and shot or something, because I consider it to be one of the most overrated songs in the universe. That being said, this was actually my LEAST favorite of the night. It's a simple straightforward song and should be sung that way; he was, to me, kind of all over the place with it vocally. Not due to bad vocals, necessarily, but due to excessive vocal aerobics. Yes, he did attempt to make it his own, but that doesn't mean I have to like how he did so. Nonetheless, no one can deny his talent.

Looking forward to seeing the ladies tonight; missed them last week.

JohnnyCoop, except for David A., I pretty much agree with all your assessments of the contestants.

I, too, missed the ladies last week...I have checked, double-checked and triple-checked that my VCR is set proper to get them this week!

All in all I was disappointed with the guys tonight =

Michael Johns = a little boring for me
Luke = Ilike him-but not the song choice tonight
Robbie = liked him last week -but not this week
Danny = Didn't Like It At All
Jason Y.= I liked him alot = liked the song
David C = 2nd best of the night = liked him playing the guitar
DAVID A = He Should Be the Next American Idol = the kid is awesome = he can SING

Chikieze (or however it's spelled) is flipping AWESOME... I found another new favorite...

Jared took a step back, but other than that I like him a lot

Yay for Jason!

David A sang one of my least favorite songs (and yes I do understand it's a classic and yes the music is beautiful, I don't agree with the total message lol) but it was really cool to hear the third verse instead of the first for a change. He might be a front runner, but hopefully he's not peaking too early.

I hated, yes hated, the Archuleto arrangement of "Imagine". I've just read on another site that he has been performing this version for the past 4 years. He's a talented Kid with a capital K. No super stardom for him. He's too generic. I prefer the Jason Castros. Of all the performances last night I tho't Hernandez was the best. It really wasn't a very good night for the men in general.

I love David A. He's got charisma plus!!! I liked the song and the way he did it.

I hope Luke doesn't go but from the song choice it could happen.

David H. was super!!

This season is another one where I think they need to drop this whole 6 guys 6 girls thing... yeah we only had 4 marginally good male vocals in season 3, but if the girls are stronger than the guys I say let more girls through

it's just dumb

*goes back to watching* I've seen the first three girls so far... and they're all better than most of the guys last night.

I was dissapointed with the girls tonight = I thought they were worse than the guys
Carly and Brooke were the only ones that I thought pulled it off == totally hated Amanda 's song choice and what was she wearing and her hair = looked like a wig -she may have sung her last song

This is definitely the season of the WEIRD SONG CHOICE. I don't know WHAT some of these people are thinking.

So far, I think the guys, collectively, are better than the girls.

My take:

Carly -- "Crazy On You" -- I really liked what she did with this song; the vocal was great and so was the arrangement and phrasing. Excellent.

Syesha -- "Me And Mr. Jones" -- I thought this was an excellent rendition of a song that I actually detest. Quite nice. I like the fact that despite the fact that she has a big voice, she was willing to do something a little quieter. I don't think that just because you CAN really beller your head off all the time, doesn't mean you should. [That's what drove me nuts about Jennifer Hudson; she had to turn EVERYTHING into an aria....] Anyway -- very nice job; I liked this a lot.

Brooke -- "You're So Vain" -- Didn't quite do it for me. Don't understand the point of the guitar, I think she would have done better just to stand up and sing it straight.

Ramiele -- "Don't Leave Me This Way" -- Uh.... No. Totally the wrong song for her type of voice.

Kristy Lee -- "You're No Good" -- Ditto. Tho I think she did slightly better, vocal wise, and choice wise, than Ramiele.

Amanda -- "Carry On My Wayward Son" -- OMG THAT HAIR!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: Beyond that -- she actually has a certain quality to her voice that I really like, but she doesn't control it very well and it was all over the place. She does add something different to the competition; I would like to see her stick around a while longer, just to see what she can do.

Alaina -- "Hopelessly Devoted To You" -- She's got one of those "overly sweet" voices that get on my nerves to begin with (like Haley Scarnato last season), and I thought this was just out and out HIDEOUS.

Alexandrea -- "Baby Please Don't Go" -- VERY interesting song choice; kind of worked for me and kind of didn't. HORRIBLE outfit; what was with the pedal pushers or whatever those were??

Kady -- "Magic Man" -- I did not care for the performance especially, but I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE :love: this woman's voice. I'm hoping she stays long enough to pick something that will just blow everyone away.

Asia'h -- "All By Myself" -- Getting past the fact that I wish they would retire this song from the AI repetoire, I thought this was vocally kind of all over the place. But I know she had a cold, so I'm going to give her a pass; given that, and the type of song it is, this could have been -- and probably should have been -- a lot worse.

I'm thinking Amanda and Alaina are probably going to be the ones to go. Among the guys, I think it's fairly open among everyone except David A.

the first three were good...

after that it was so-so....

this season just feels like it's going to drag on lol
