American Idol - Season 7

Most the guys were a little better than "okay" to "pretty darned good" in my opinion.

My bottom two are Danny Noriega and Luke Menard

I do not like anything about Danny...he's worse than Sanjaya!

I discovered that I found a few of the contestants quite attractive during last nights show...Jason Castro has beautiful eyes!

If I were to put them in order, from best to worst, it'd be:
David A.
Chikezie
Jason Castro
David C.
David H.
Michael Johns
Luke Menard
Danny Noriega

Well, of the ladies, I think Ramiele and Asia'h should go; those performances were just flat. I keep hearing about Ramiele's "big voice", but I have yet to actually hear it despite the fact she keeps picking "big voice" songs.

Brooke was actually my favorite of the night; like David Cook, she put a whole new spin on her song choice and made it something really cool; it never would have occured to me to do that song that way. I also really liked Kady, tho I do agree with Simon to a point that she doesn't have a lot of presence, but THAT VOICE..... [Then again, IMHO, Carrie Underwood too had a fabulous voice and near zero stage presence, and he never seemed to have much of a problem with that. I assume Ms. Underwood has gotten a lot better in that department since winning AI]. And Syesha was again terrific, but what is her fascination with picking songs about having affairs??

I'm finding Amanda highly frustrating -- I love those deep husky punk-rock voices like she's got, but she seems so nervous and uptight when she goes out there and that is in direct opposition to the persona she is trying to project, and it just throws the whole thing off. I thought she missed the mark last night and I can't believe Simon liked it so much.

My take on the ladies:

Asia'h: average, she doesn't excite me
Kady: I thought she did very well!
Amanda: I'm with you JonnyCoop...something about her just doesn't seem 'right', I'm not even sure what I'm trying to say, but despite her sounding good when she sings a Joplin-esque type song, it's like it's contrived or something?
Carly: I thought she did I Drove All Night excellently! I love the Cyndi Lauper version of that song, too.
Kirsty: decent job
Ramiele: She doesn't excite me either.
Brooke: Very good job of Love is a Battlefield
Syesha: Another "average"

I taped the results show this evening although I did catch the end of it and am very glad of the one guy who I know went home!

My cousin referred to her as "stiff and inauthentic" and that does sound about right. She's definitely stiff, perhaps because she IS being inauthentic. Whatever it is, it's definitely off, and it's frustrating because with that voice she really has the potential to blow the lid off the whole competition.

As far as who went home, they got 2 out of 4 right IMO. Was glad to see Luke and Asia'h go; they did nothing for me for the most part (tho I did like Luke's take on that Queen song last week; gutsy, risky choice and few could have actually done it that well), but I would rather have seen Ramiele and David H. go instead of Kady (whose voice -- let me say it one last time  -- I absolutely LOVE) and Danny (whose personality is admittedly just a little bit grating, but vocally I thought he was pretty darn good). I just don't understand the whole Ramiele thing (aside from the fact that she's cute), and David H. just creeps me out.

For me, America's votes got the men right.

The ladies, I'm with you again...would've kept Kady another week and sent Ramiele home instead.

American Idol top 12 = 1st performances

What did everyone think of the first show ??
I thought Chickeze did a good job == loved it when him and Ryan ran around the stage (did you see how winded Ryan was after)
Felt bad for David A. = forgot the words more than once
Didn't like Amanda = she yelled alot
and I think that it was a mistake for Christy to try to country up a Beatles song == I think that may have put her in the bottom

cb

I enjoyed Jason and Chikezie.... Ramiele was good as well

other than that I'm not impressed.

I loved Chikezie and Brooke. Felt bad for David A. He is talented and so adorable but I think that he may be somewhat limited in his ability to interpret some music............I hope that I am wrong on this. Carly sang one of my fravorite Beatles songs. She and Amanda were better than I expected last night. But Chikezie was so good that eveything else just didn't matter........we replayed his performance many times. I am ordering it from Itunes:love:. I love it when someone who seems to be a nice person does well on the show. Brooke, Chikezie, and David A. all seem to be really nice people. Countrifying Eight Days A Week was a BIG mistake. David H.also made a mess of his song.

I must have been feeling mellow last night because my favorite performances were by Jason Castro, Michael Johns, Ramiele & Carly. Considering how those same 3 judges have harped in the past about a contestant forgetting or changing the verses (Clay Aiken?) why did they tread so lightly with Archuleta? He, Syesha & Hernandez were the worst. Oh & Christy Lee Cook.

I have a top 3 and bottom 4 from the "top 12" show last night.

Chickezie, Carly and Brooke were WONDERFUL!

Ramiele, Amanda, David H. and Kristy were awful.

Jason and David A. were below their normal IMO, but I wouldn't vote either one off yet.

The others, Seyesha, David C., and Michael were okay...not great but not awful kind of performance.

Kristy really did butcher 8 Days a Week. And the more I see of Amanda the more I just do not like anything about her.

in Clay's case he botched MAJORLY (he quit singing) and it was during the top 3 night! (To Starry Starry Night... that song was a mess with him. very disappointing)

David botched the top 12 - but I agree they're way too nice, but then again he is the favorite child.

I think Brooke sings better when she's not using an instrument... she loses her concentration when she plays the piano/guitar and her voice isn't as strong or on pitch.

I have to agree that Chiekize was awesome last night. I hated him every other week but last night he rocked.

Please....David H needs to go. I mean it's karoke at it worst whenever he sings....every week.

Amanda...I like her but don't all her songs sound the same?

HALLELUJAH, Hernandez is outa there!! No more having to wince through his hideous vocals and be creeped out by his sleazy facial expressions!!:clap: I can't for the life of me figure out how he even got out of Hollywood Week.

As to Tuesday night, my top 3 was Carly (that was THE performance of the season so far IMHO), David Cook (tho I wish he'd tone down the Pearl Jam imitations), and Brooke (who I am starting to become a big fan of; she really does put a lot of real emotion into what she sings, and she's just so happy to be there that it's just charming.)

As to everyone else -- I don't even know WHAT to make of Chikezie's performance, but it certainly took GUTS to go out there and do what he did; I liked Amanda's BASIC take on her song but like Simon, I couldn't understand even half of what she was singing -- I have a feeling that like Kimberly Caldwell and Amy Adams from previous seasons, she's gonna be outa there before she finally finds THE song that will set her voice off just right and blows everyone away; Ramiele was just BORING; ditto Syesha tho I did kind of like the pseudo-Big Band treatment she gave the song; Kristy Lee had her best VOCAL so far, IMHO, but that arrangement was an absolute TRAIN WRECK. I'm sure there are several Lennon-McCartney songs that would lend themselves well to a country arrangement; THAT WAS NOT ONE OF THEM.

As to the rest of the guys, I like Jason in general but thought he was too whiny this time around; Michael was boring and like Hernandez, rather oversang the song; Archuleta was just a mess and should not have gone THERE; and Hernandez was even worse than usual.

Apparently it's more Lennon & McCartney next week; hopefully this will give some people a chance to make better song choices than they did the first time around. Which would be everyone but Carly, Brooke, and David, IMO.

I actually liked David (even with the whole scandal with the gay strip club thing) and I didn't think he sounded bad at all

I'll agree that Kristy sounds great when singing her song, but that the arrangement was horrible.

the top 12 are all pretty equal in singing talent, strength, so I don't think there's really a right or wrong answer (unlike past seasons when you had someone like Sanjaya or whoever)

I really felt bad for Hernandez, but his eyebrow thing really creeped me out:eek:
I'm beginning to LOVE Brooke! I liked her couple weeks ago when she sang you're so vain. And now, she's my favorite! I think Carly has great vocal and scary face. Michael Johns is pretty good and HOT but sort of boring. I love David A's singing voice but his speaking voice is really grating. I don't really care for the rest of people.

Sorry folks, I feel bad for the Beatles fans all over the world having to hear their favorite tunes by the fab four ruined by these wannabee stars. The only performance I could actually say that was sincere was Jason. At least he attempted to sing with some feeling. Please American Idols leave the Beatles tunes alone!!!

you know if they are all so bad there's this button on the remote that changes the channel...;)
