American Idol - Season 7

I wonder what is going on in Jason's head. It's almost like he's given up. I do think he has a chance at being American Idol though. He has a huge fan base. I just couldn't believe his 2 songs last night. I think from those performances he gets the "SOCK PUPPET' award. It will be interesting to see who goes home tonight.

I was disgusted by the way the judges treated Jason last night. Could they make it any clearer that they want him gone? No wonder he forgot the lyrics to his 2nd song. I can't recall the judges ever being so hateful to any former contestant. I hope he lands a recording contract & becomes the next Chris Daughtrey. If he leaves tonight I won't bother to watch the remaining shows. Jason was the only contestant in the top 10 who made the show interesting & entertaining. I don't know if it will hurt or help David Cook to be #1. AI doesn't have the greatest track record for turning their winners into recording stars. Still, its a jumping off point for a career. (And so is place #4!)

Let's face it. Jason is just not up to par with the other three right now. It will be the biggest shocker ever if he says after tonight. If he does hang on... I will know who to blame... those silly 13 year-old girls who think he is cute.

Anyway Salesha once again owned the show. David Cook is good... somtimes very, but I feel like he almost always does the same thing. Selesha can do anything and she expands her genres. Not to mention she puts her heart and soul into every performance.

on a side thread... who else wants to scream at paula. She comes across as such a phony being overly nice all the time. Just tell it like it is. These kids can handle it.

I'm wondering if the judges' "dislike" of Jason has anything to do with his background. From what I understand his dad works with music at the church he grew up in, and there are a couple vids floating around on youtube of him singing Christian songs at one of his hometown's churches... I know they were hard on Mandisa and she was an outspoken religious person... I wonder if it's a pattern? Just a wild guess, I didn't see the show last night so I don't know just how bad they were or weren't. (they were pretty rough on Clay compared to Ruuuuuuuuuuuben though too...)

Bye Bye Jason = he should have gone long ago = what stupid songs he sang (if you want to call it that) last night

He was really bad this time. He forgot nearly a whole line of Tambourine Man and did nothing reasonable to cover it.

To me, it was obvious a few weeks ago that the only reason Brooke and Jason remained was because of their "likability factor". Let's face it, they were pleasant to look at, not atrocious to listen to, and they both seemed shy and cutesy and kinda like a little kitten or puppy you just want to hug all over.

Jason deserved to go home. It truly did seem like he gave up. He never "stepped out of his box" and really delivered anything that could be called special, unique, brilliant.

David A. has become like nails across the chalk board for me, I cringe! I'm so tired of his turned down mostly closed eyes, his wide nostrils and that voice that just seems so low and monotone and monotonous. Sorry, but that is my opinion of him.

I really hope this goes down to Syesha and David C. Even though Syesha is also not my cup of tea, at least she can sing and perform a variety of genre's. And David C., well...He's just hot. He'll fair well even if he doesn't win, just like Chris Daughtry did!

I think Jason said it so well last night....my inexperience. It seems like he wanted to get bumped off. It could be that it was all too much for him.

Any of the 3 left would be OK for me to be the winner. I like all 3. Poor David A., he gets picked on so much. I love the pureness of his voice.

Um. . . no, it's because he isn't a very good singer compared to the others. I still can't believe how long he survived on the show. And you just can't come on the show week after week and not show some sort of progression. You also can't show up in the final 4 and forget the words to a song.

I don't think the two Davids have made much of a progression, and aside from warddrobe season 2's top 2 didn't have much of one either.
You also can't show up in the final 4 and forget the words to a song.

Clay Aiken flubbed during top 3... forgot most of the song. Blamed it on having to add a second verse at the last minute... he was forgiven.

I agree that Jason was not as strong as the other three vocally... I'm not shouting foul at all... just giving another reason they might not enjoy him.

You know, I agree that he seemed ready, until he started singing and then you could tell it hit him that he really did want to keep going... kinda like Josh Gracin in Season 2... he was ready to go at top 4 (and a lot of people said he stayed in too long too) but he was still sad to leave.

Toni, I doubt that anyone knows he sang some Christian music except those that enjoy Christian music. I would expect it to mostly affect his vote total positively for that reason. I doubt any of the judges care one way or the other.

well Simon got on Mandisa's case for it, but she was more vocal about it than Jason seems to be... I dunno...

Jason was interviewed on one of TV Guides programs last night & he said he was "flustered" when he came out to do the 2nd number. And wouldn't you be too? Inexperienced, thrust into the limelight & told by the judges in their own inimitable way that you don't deserve to be performing on American Idol?

yeah but they've done that to countless other contestants over the years...

he told Ryan on Ryan's radio program that he was glad it was his time and that each week is was more and more out of his element... so I'm happy if he's happy.

David A's father can't go backstage anymore = he is causing trouble = he had David change words to one of the songs he sang last week = it was on ET and is on the Web = it sounds like he is very controling

I watched a brief interview on one of the news shows this morning........they interviewed David A.'s voice coach for the last 7 years and he said it wasn't true, that David's dad wasn't controlling. They are keeping him out of rehersals in fairness to the other contestants. David A is only 17, so needs a guardian or chaparone nearby, but the other singers don't have anyone, so to even the playing field, Jeff A isn't allowed backstage so much...............42
