Anastasia Tarakanova

i mean Nastya has better technique, stronger jumps with bigger height and distance... but whatever, she doesn't have a quad it's all that matters

That's the point, she's fighting for it, and probably she'll get it for the next season, and kanysheva no, with quad and better techical she will be unstoped, I hope

Nastya is one of my favourite ladies and I think that she has been very unlucky throughout her entire career especially internationally with her getting sick last year and having knee problems that caused her to loose time this offseason and end up moving to Plushenko as well as things like her having problems with her skates this season which is what I think went wrong at junior nats, getting ill just before jgp final and her family loss just before senior nats which through her during the short. Arguably even if she hadn't fallen in Zagreb last year she may have been able to become Eteri's second junior lady instead of Kostornaia if she had won there though that isn't certain.

That all being said Nastya does have some of the most potential of all the skaters out there with good tech on all her jumps, stunning spins and some of the most powerful skating around even though it could use some refinement which Ivanova does seem to be focusing on. She may get the quads or ultra-c and if I were to bet on a skater to get them she'd be one of the top ones due to her massive jump height and the fact that Plushenko seems to be focusing on tightening and improving her rotation and its positioning as a priority which can be seen on her loop and her flip which have massively improved this season. This all being said she may never get ultra-c--at the moment it seems pretty random who gets it especially with quads as I think that Anna and Sasha are very different jumpers yet both have quads and as we all know puberty can always be a spanner in the works which can be seen in how she's growing so much.

Sorry for the long essay but we're all here because we support Nastya and let's have some faith that soon we'll be able to see everything being pulled together (hopefully with the help of some ballet classes to keep those shoulders of hers down )

I hope so... but even more I hope she won't have any thoughts about giving up skating after this season and we will see her next season..

Hopefully the drive to get a 3a and maybe even a quad will keep her going. She already tried quiting and very quickly came back so hopefully she’s gotten that out of her system. :)

I am still unsure wether by switching to Plyushchenko's Angels, an unaffiliated commercial club, Tarakanova has robbed herself from many chances to compete for Russia internationally and to remain competitive in the first place by competing with and against same age and level skaters in greater Moscow rinks that are ruled by FFKM?

She originally did not aspire to change Chrustalny for Plushchenko. She wanted to quit skating completely but after a month without skating she realized she was missing FS. So she had to find a place and this option was probably the only one or one of the few at that moment.

This 'only option' could mean so many things, like Tarakanova being blacklisted by FFKM. I cannot imagine any other club or trainer in Moscow not wanting to take Anastasiya on board for her formidable skating skills.
I think she has a strong personality, so perhaps she isn't the easiest to work with under the strict and uniform rules of the SDYuSShOR kind of schools that FFKM governs?

Anyway, in about 6 weeks FS season closes and FFKKR will shortly thereafter publish its latest ranking and distribution of skaters it funds for 2019/2020 season, so we'll know by then as to everybody's position.

"the only one or one of the few" means transfer window was nearly over and teams filled their capacities already. I don't think there was anything other than that.

i wish she would switch to other training group but she seems unmotivated to do so

I think she’s happy with her current training group and that‘s why she doesn‘t switch. But that‘s fine, isn‘t it? What Nastya needs is consistency. She could have easily won that bronze at JGPF if she hadn‘t had problems in her SP. I know that judges generally underscore her but as soon as she performs well consistently, they will notice her more. I hope she gets her spot at Junior Worlds next year.

yeah she needs consistency which she couldn't gain with her current group. her coach is ivanova, know for coaching the consistency headcase anfisa ryabova...

honestly, i'm not the least bit positive with her staying in this training group, plushenko is over his head trying to make her do quads and 3As (of course only with harness not actually doing them), this will only hinder her training process which is rubbish

and no offence to plushy fan
i think plushenko is awesome as an athlete but not so great as a coach...
i don't mean that he lacks to ability and potential to be a great coach but seems like he's more focused on ice shows instead of coaching at the moment...

honestly, I think Nastya will be the next lady olympic champion

Yes, I'm not the biggest fan of her yet, but I like the power and wildness of her skating and I think she'll be one of the few that successfully passed puberty.
I think she'll be a contender to win in Beijin 2022.
