Anastasia Tarakanova

Return to the old dress was a really, really good idea and brought Asia luck... ;) next time please give her PCS she deserves... :cheer:

Why is this girl always underscored? She’s absolutely fantastic and it kills me that she doesn’t get the recognition she deserves!

She was on fire today. Beautiful FS. Shame for the SP but it is what it is. She came back beautifully here and more than had a redemption skate.

She changed back to her old layout, though, I see. At JGPF her combos were both backloaded.

I was unable to watch live, but the first thing I did was watch Zhenya then Nastya.

OMG Nastya was awesome!!! Someone mentioned her TES was the highest until the 3A skated, what a total legend!

That PCS though, complete and total robbery. But! She was so happy at the end of the skate I can't even be that mad.

Go Nastya! :cheer2: I'm such a believer in you!!

I'd imagine Ivanova switched the layout in order to give Nastya the best possible chance for success. She was really struggling with her combos in the practice this morning (it took her 3/4 tries to get a 3F that she could even put the 2T on).

In her usual practice runthoughs she does - 3Lz-3T, 3Lo, 2A-eu-3S, 2A (or sometimes an extra 3F-eu-S), 3F-eu-3S, 3Lz-3T, 3F+2T - which means she can move her 3T and eu-3S combo around relatively easily depending on how she feels on the day.

Unfortunately it's now been reported that Nastya's grandmother passed away the day of the SP.

Like I said in the Russian Ladies thread, I'm very proud of her for coming out and skating the best she could (in both the SP and the FS) despite the circumstances. It does make her tears after the SP even more heartbreaking. Her FS was a wonderful moment and I hope she can take the positives from that performance (even if the her PCS score was a joke).

Oh that's so sad! Poor Nastya, that was so brave of her to skate SP.

This makes the epic FS even better :) I'm sure her grandmother was with her in spirit.

I'm so proud of Nastya for coming out and skating this well considering the news about her grandma and the fact she was sick at the JGPF only two weeks ago. Her step sequence and choreo sequence in this program are fire with that little jump and the beautiful held out spiral which were stunning. So proud of her performance in the free skate though hits so sad that she keeps on getting underscored like this--she got the fourth highest TES and yet the 16th highest PCS which is ridiculous in my opinion considering her emotional connection to the music as it climaxed and her skating skills which are undoubtedly some of the best at this competition.

I just hope she doesn't get discouraged and either forced to the more feminine skating that Alena and Anna do which is what the judges have decided to reward over her (and even Trusova's) more powerful skating or feel as though she has to force the quads to get attention from the Russian Fed. I'm just hoping that as she seems to have finally gotten this free skate down she will be able to get her short program clean for junior nats to make sure that she will make the last warm up group which will hopefully mean she will get bigger scores.

I hope she won't be too disappointed about the score, she deserve so much higher~
I really love her reaction after her FS
Anyway, she still got junior national, hope she can redeemed herself!!

A few thoughts. So sorry about Nastya 's grandmother. That had to make this competition doubly difficult.

I think she is on the same path as Maria Sotskova. They are exactly 4 years apart. Maria 3 years in Juniors, 2nd year in seniors was the Olympics and she went. So next year Being in juniors would be a blessing and hopefully she will be WJC.

Good luck at Junior Nationals.

While I was watching this, I had the feeling I was watching a champion in the making. She just tore across the ice and her jumps were so high and rotated. My suggestion to her is that she absolutely must stop the random, superficial and meaningless overuse of her arms. She's skating to Moonlight Sonata for heaven sakes and her arms are just flailing. It reminded me of early Slutskaya, where she thought she was being artistic with excessive meaningless arm movements. TARA needs to show that she has musicality and that a lot less is more in terms of arms. But she nailed that program and I was proud for her. I think she does need another season in Juniors. Acquire some musicality and tone down the flailing and get that 4toe or 4loop!
