Anastasiia Gubanova

So sorry to see Nastia in 14th place after the SP at her 1st worlds. This was very unexpected after she was so good at the Olympics. I do wonder if she's tired from all the traveling and practices and competitions. It might be wearing her down. She also only skated in one tournament last season last year and had not been out of Russia to compete in 3 years so she lost her world rankiing completely. Just another reason for me to hate the Rusfed.

I also wonder if the pressure to finish in the top 10 at worlds to get 2 spots for Georgia next season is affecting her.

I thought Nastia would be skating in the 2nd group for sure how in the world did she end up in the 1st group skating 3rd? PCS under 30 of course.. :( Worlds is a much weaker field than at the Olympics without Yelim Kim and 3 great Russinas. Did they have a draw or something?

Good luck to Anastasia in the free skate. She will need a high level free skate with no major mistakes in order just to get 195 points overall. That might not be good enough for her to make the top 10 and get 2 spots for Georgia. I hope she's not skating in the 1st group again that would doom her.
She's in the second group. She is only 1.5 points from tenth place. I'm sure she can make the top 10. :)

Nope, Rukavitsyn wasn't with her. He will be most probably at Channel One cup that starts soon. I'm not even sure if he was allowed to go there...
No, russian coaches were not allowed to go to worlds even with their non-russian skaters.

How is she supposed to succeed at worlds without her coach of 3 years? This is ridiculous and exception should have been made.

If you take the coaches away from Kaori Loena and Mariah who won the small medals I think their performance levels would drop. I am sad for Nastia. The ISU made life worse for this teenager. It just makes me despise them even more and I already have many reasons for that. Next season is a big season for Anastasia even bigger than this one and she's going to need her coach with her to go much higher in the world standing so they need to get this ironed out with the ISU. I expect an even more productive season for nastia next season if she has her coach. If she doesn't or she takes somebody from Georgia with her that's not the same.

It's just more ridiculous. How is Nastia supposed to succeed like she did at the Olympics at worlds without her coach? I mean take EG and Danil away from Anya and even the best lady skater in the world probably falls off performance wise a little bit.

What I don't want to see now is to have this spill over into next season for Nastia. She will have opportunities to rise up in the ranks and compete in more competitions. But if it's without her coach of 4 years as of next season then she's truly handicapped as an athlete. Something needs to happen the ISU needs to make some adjustments and Anastasia needs to appeal to the ISU. I mean take the coaches away from the American ladies and see how well they do.
Nastia is still a young skater by worlds standards. She does not have full confidence yet and she needs all the coaching she can get at these competitions.

No matter what happens in the free today Nastia has a lot to build on for next season.

No russian skaters or coaches are allowed at this competition, so it is not ridiculous and no exception should be made! I am sure that Gubanova is happy to skate at all – with or without a couch – because she is Russian.

If this continues long-term with her coach being unable to travel she has to find a new coach. For Anastasia this is a big test for her with the free skate without her coach. Hoping it's on the level of what she did at the Olympics.

She considers herself a citizen of Georgia.

Well, as for coaches, somehow there was Sliusarenko (with georgian pair and with Morisi), I wonder if he also has a georgian passport.

Even though she's skating in the dreaded 2nd group in the free I hope Nastya can finish off her 1st season representing Georgia in style.
No matter what happens she's had a good season and now Anastasia knows what a long season is really like. ;) It's been a long season for her and she had coronavirus that affected her lungs right in the middle of everything. :( But Nastya has established herself as a world class skater and hopefully she can build on that for the future.

I'm not sure who is working with Nastya in France. It has to be frustrating and disappointing that her coach of 3 years is not with her. This cannot help her performance. But thanks for the coaching information. If things stay the same for next season and an Russian based coach can not travel internationally with her she needs to think about a plan B for a coach. Someone from Georgia or France or Switzerland.

Very good job by Nastya roday going from 14th place to 6th place with a wonderful free skate. She was brutalized with PCS marks again by crazy judges who gave one of the most if not the most beautiful free skates of the day a 63.10 PCS. I ain't asking for 72 or even Anna stratosphere of 76 but how about 67 or 68? I'm okay with her having to earn her way and her PCS increases but what's been done to her this season with PCS scores is absolutely ridiculous.

Nastya really came up clutch today not only did she secure two spots at Worlds next season for Georgia she also received two grand prix assignments next season. :) she has saved her career this season and established herself as a world-class skater moving forward. Thank you to the Republic of Georgia for throwing this wonderful talent a lifeline to save her career.

Nastya says she will have two new programs for next season but I think she should keep the free skate. Perfect that even add some choreography and technical difficulty like adding a third 3 - 3. ;)

So sorry her Russian coaches can't be with her.

Jontor said Nastya had surgery in the offsesson. That caught me by surprise and that's not good for figure skaters.

Two clean skates for Anastasia to start the season. I guess it's a pretty good start for her. We have to get used to the new programs it's a little bit different for her.

I sure hope her scores improve during the season you would think without the Russians they would be handing out really good scores left and right but not so far this season.

From what I learned about Nastyas short program her score was too low again. As good as Isabeau Levito is and as fabulous as her presentation is it kind of stings to see her at 15 be treated with much more respect from the judges than Anastasia at almost 20 has ever received. :(

Hoping for a clean free skate for Nastya tomorrow and for her to be the only lady to do two 3L3LOs. With a few top ladies struggling in the short program today the podium is a possibility for Nastya but she must be clean.
