"Russian Challenge 2026." Andrei Mozalev – the magical power of feminine charm

Andrei Mozalev, bronze medalist at the 2022 Russian Championships, 2020 World Junior Champion, and Beijing Olympic Games participant, is a regular participant in the "Russian Challenge" show tournament. This time, paired with Alisa Dvoeglazova, silver medalist at the 2026 Russian Championships, the pair performed a humorous routine about the magical power of feminine charm, choreographed by Albena Denkova and Maxim Stavisky to the iconic song "I Put a Spell on You" by American singer Screamin' Jay Hawkins.
Andrei Mozalev and Alisa Dvoeglazova spoke about the plot and the work on this program:
Andrei: This is a funny number about a couple who comes to a restaurant.
Alisa: The girl enthusiastically tells the young man about her life, about the events that have happened... Chirping like a bird...
Andrei: But he’s not interested, he gets up, wants to leave, and then…
Alisa: The girl takes out a magic powder from her purse, blows it on the guy, as if bewitching him, enchants him with her charm, and then with a sweet smile begins to manipulate him, enjoying the fact that she managed to hold on to him...
So, if Andrey did anything wrong in the number, it was under the influence of my magic – my feminine charm. (Laughs.) It turned out to be such a cool and funny number.
Andrei: It was directed by Albena Denkova and Maxim Stavisky. It was their idea. I wanted to work with them myself, and when the question arose of who to invite as an assistant, I immediately called Alisa.
We somehow hit it off this season. It all started with reels together before the Russian Jumping Championships. Then we won the duet at the Jumping Championships. We participated in photo shoots for our merch together. And then things took off so fast that we even became stars of the Wildberries. So, I couldn't even imagine anyone else in this issue except Alisa.
The production of the program was a slow process. The hardest part for us was expressing our characters as actors.
Alisa: Especially for me. Because I had to play this sweet little bitch who's all over her boyfriend, but in reality I'm a darling, a sweetheart, and definitely not a scheming beast.
It was also challenging to maintain interaction with my partner throughout the number, to stay in character, to interact. This was new for me. An interesting experience.
Andrei: It was challenging for me to skate this routine overall, as it had a lot of new elements for me. And also to play the role of this guy so that it wasn't just a performance of elements.
This was the first time I'd staged a number with Albena and Maxim. As I said, I volunteered to collaborate with them.
Alisa: I've worked with Albena and Maxim before on other projects. They take their work very seriously. They always think through every detail of their routine.
Andrei: They came to our rink a few times. They choreographed routines for other guys, too – Sasha and Dima (Boikov and Kozlovsky – ed.). We practiced some things with the choreographers in the hall, and they asked to see our routine on the ice again and again.
I enjoyed this work. And I understood that the motto of the "Russian Challenge" is akin to the Olympic slogan: that the most important thing is not winning, but taking part, although winning shouldn't be forgotten either. (Laughs.)
Alisa: I wanted to take part in the “Russian Challenge” and thanks to Andrey for giving me this opportunity.
