Andrew Torgashev

Andrew was the guest on Polina's podcast again. I found it interesting, he talks in depth about what happened at Worlds and also discusses his thoughts about his new programs and the season:

I haven't seen any of GP France yet, but Andrew is in last place (!). It looks like he popped the 4T and then fell during the choreo sequence. I wonder what happened to throw him off?

He did worse in the short at Golden West and then much better in the free, but it sure doesn't help with his Olympic quest or concerns about his readiness. No chance for a medal here. 😢

I hope he bounces back for the free!

Do figure skaters ever have Patreon accounts? That would be so cool to support Andrew on a regular basis with that. It's better than buying merch I don't really want...

That's the website from his ISU bio. Don't know how up to date it is but it has a donation link to support him.

Did you listen to that podcast he did a few weeks ago? He talked about losing money while competing because he cannot do coaching lessons with kids while he is at a competition. And coaching is where he earns money

Andrew. Andrew. Andrew. Why can't you skate like you did in the free program all the time? You were brilliant. I love that program. I'm so glad he pulled it together. Hope that gives him some confidence going forth. Looked like a completely different skater from the SP.

Yes, a much better result for Andrew in the free. Interesting that it's about the same score than won him a bronze here last year. We would all love for him to not have so many ups and downs which do take their toll on his fans!

He seems very laid back in interviews, but I think that skating is an outlet for his intensity and emotions. It must be difficult to rein in and may not lend itself to 100% consistency. On a more superficial note, his hair looks a bit lighter but it isn't as dramatic as Ilia's new style and color!

So happy he was able to save this competition! 233 is pretty standard for him, nowadays. It's quite a bit lower than his PB, but I was so worried something was wrong with him and that he'd bomb the free, too. He was able to let it go and just focus on skating for a new day.

This free program is really good. His costume kind of screams, "Christmas!!" but the program is what matters most. Plus, his short program costume is one of the best ones in the men's field this season.

I was also wondering about the gala. It's true that Andrew has been consistently scoring in the 230s this season. Of course, if he had a better short it would have been much higher overall and made a big statement.

I was probably wrong about his hair being lighter, the colors in the NBC broadcast were really bad. Without Peacock and no one posting videos on YouTube, I haven't been able to see a lot of the competition including his free. 😭

That is such is an odd event for Andrew to skip, are we sure he was invited.

So happy to see the redemption Free. Andrew loves this program and I love that for him; I believe last year's "L'Enfer" energy is channeled into this one.

It was also posted on another site. I can't imagine that he would have flown home so soon and wonder what else may have happened:
