Andrew Torgashev

I meant to say that L'enfer is similar to Good News in style. Maybe Andrew will keep the Scorpions program, but we certainly want him to qualify for the free!

As for costumes, I think the FS at Nats had his third one of the season. I like it better than the others. It's not unlike what Ilia wore, maybe it was the same designer? They looked similar from a distance and in still photos. 🙂

The Olympics aren't here yet, so let's celebrate 2026 Nationals some more! Here are the two press conferences.

Men's Free Skate
- Andrew answers a question about his love of pizza and what he'll eat before Milan (maybe the most upbeat and relaxed answer to a press question he's ever given; he got so excited about food)
- All three of them talking about their memories of 2020 Junior Worlds together
- Andrew talking about how the Olympic spirit is in every skater
- Their general support and brotherly love for each other
- Andrew predicted that the night after the FS was going to be his best night of sleep in St Louis
- Why am I listing highlights? I enjoyed every single bit from all three of them!

Olympic Team
- What Andrew did between NHK and Nationals to reset
- Andrew comments on the architecture and history of St Louis
- His break for two years and what it did for him (mentioning doing Sectionals with Max and how they both qualified to Nationals that year)
- What each of them admires about the skating of the other two (loved all their answers to that one!) Ilia admires their passion and effort. Max said Andrew's skating skills specifically. Andrew says Ilia is "defying human physics in every single way possible" and Max is the "biggest fighter, stronger person I know, heart on sleeve"
- Group hug after questions are over!:love::love:

They are so CUTE!!! Can I adopt them all???

I enjoyed the press conferences! I thought that all three of them gave such good and meaningful responses to the questions. I also like the camaraderie that they appear to have.

I wasn't familiar with this channel, but the following appeared in my YT feed. They give an entertaining description of Andrew's FS costume and why it worked so well for him, starting around 27:30:

I'd like to highlight one particular Andrew quote from the FS press conference. I summarized it as one of the highlights, but that doesn't do it justice. Andrew gives his definition of "the Olympic spirit." When he put it this way, it felt like something that I could apply in my life. I hope that's not too cheesy to say. I am not an athlete or an Olympian, but I think we all can be resilient, driven, and tenacious in our own lives.

"I accepted a little while ago that regardless if I can call myself an Olympian or not one day, I think the Olympic spirit is in all of us. It's this resilience, this drive, this tenacity that brings us all coming back to the rink every single day. This is also 2020 U.S. Junior Team. I think all of us here (and here at Nationals) have this Olympic spirit within us."

I will be posting Andrew's Nationals videos here on Monday. I love it in this Fan Fest! :ghug:

Here are Andrew's competition programs at 2026 Nationals. The Japan LP shows Andrew's full reaction, replays, and K&C. The NBC LP shows his mom's reaction, along with Andrew's and Max's reactions after Tomoki's scores. Johnny said Andrew was like a caged tiger unleashed in that performance. Terry said "brilliant stuff." Tara would have given him higher PCS. They all get so excited whenever he skates well.

The gala deserves its own post. First, the fact that Andrew was the first to be announced and got such a FABULOUS reception from the crowd made me cry!!! Be still my heart! He started L'Enfer late because they were still cheering. His L'Enfer will NEVER get old, and this one was so relaxed and joyful for obvious reasons. I loved seeing his mom give him his Olympian's jacket; it is so perfect since she's been there from day one and started as both mother and coach. And then there's the interview, with mother and son still holding on to each other and Andrew close to tears. Andrew says the reality is better than he imagined, and then pays this lovely tribute to his family:

"These are the people that have my back through thick and thin. No matter what the weather is, they're always here. I don't have the words to extend my appreciation to them. Just thank you so much."

I've never seen him smile like this. The elation was written all over his face. He was still smiling when they showed him again backstage.

I liked Vincent's compliments when he introduced him. I had no idea that Vincent has known Andrew for 15 years?! I didn't mind Tara, Johnny, and Terry singing his praises, either.

I really enjoyed this way of announcing the Olympic team. All the skaters were so happy and they each got highlighted nicely. I could feel the excitement and emotions through the screen.

Thank you. Do you have the ones from max too?

All these Andrew videos are so amazing! He skated so incredibly for his free skate--it's like a dream. He didn't just kind of make the team... He totally crushed making the Olympic team!! Who can really doubt him now? (Only the haters still do, of course.)

I have HIGH hopes that he will do well at not just the Olympics, but Worlds, too. Maybe having the responsibility to create three Worlds 2027 spots, not that he does, but he kind of does, will help him focus and just go out there and do it. That's what he did at Nats to make the Olympic team. He just DID it.

Thank you so much for the videos, skatingfan4ever!

rewatch the Japanese broadcast and find it out 😂
Any reason to rewatch that video is a good reason, so I did. ;)

I COMPLETELY MISSED THE PIZZA BOX UNTIL NOW!!!

@noskates, lucky you to be in the arena for this event!

He receives the pizza box from Kirk at timestamp 5:35. Kirk says, "You did it. Good job." Andrew skates away with a "Woah!" and seems so thrilled.
