Anna Pogorilaya

Anna has two incredibly beautiful programs this season. To see her skate her SP like this has been a dream come true. To see her in medal position is simply incredible, but oh so deserving. I'd promised myself I wasn't going to get nervous for the Ladies FS because I won't have a clear favorite other than wanting to see the Japanese ladies do well (I always do, I just love their style), but now, knowing Anna actually has a shot at a medal... I mean, it was "only" the SP, a lot can still change, but this is her chance, surely.
Go Anna!

Congratulations, Anna! And coming out last, after all those great skates, and delivering the way she did... so gutsy! Wouldn't it be a wonderful Cinderella story if... ? (I won't complete that sentence for fear of jinxing.)

Skate clean in the FS, Anna - just skate clean!

My god Anna was brilliant in the SP  and I would have had her in first place.
Good luck to her in the FS!

Anna Pogorilaya: "I was very happy but I was feeling so concentrated because I understand that this was just the short program" #Worlds2016

Yes! Keep it together, Anna - keep it together! Don't lose that laser focus!

What a stellar SP! Everything an SP should be! Huge jumps, fast & interesting spins, and complex footwork delivered with real attack! Bravo, Anna, Bravo!

I was so glad that Anna did well. I keep telling my family about how good Anna is but they'd only happen to see her when she was having a bad day. Finally, we saw her perfect SP on TV together. YAAAY. :luv17:

Anna is a real talent, she has the potential to become an Ice Goddess! Lack of consistency is her only problem but if everyone goes clean, she can be the best Russian ladies skater to many eyes. I've been following her since she made her debut at JGP series, she had come out of nowhere then. She was not called a prodigy like Sotnikova, Tuktamysheva, Lipnitskaya or Radionova. But she kept surprising people with her success.
Although she did took attention during the 2014 World Championships, she was still juniorish back then. Now she is really mature and her programs are choreographed very well for her skating. This season was her time to shine and apparently she peaks at the most right time. Go Anna my queen  Keep shining in the FS, too.

Anna at Worlds II

Here are my thought about Anna in the SP, at Boston.

Gracie Gold has a huge spot in my heart and as a Gracie Gold supporter, I have to say that Anna was outskating her in the short and I want to show my appreciation and respect with this report.

Throughout her performance, Anna showed what a great fighter she is, when nobody believed in her, she did and there was not a single mistake in her routine. The triple Lutz was greatly attacked, far and high, the triple toe added with ease, great footwork overall and if our lovely Doris enjoys a female skater, then this says it all!

The skating by the Russian was very easy for the eye, not at all tight or worrying as so often with her, when you are afraid about her and just want to keep her close to you, so that nothing bad happens. Close and in peoples heart was her skate, she was the queen on ice, full of maturity and with a step sequence that still puts tears in my eyes. How this woman worked those steps, used her arms and hands to slow down and accelerate within, how she expressed her feelings and emotions with her whole body, it was marvelous and the best performance of the day by miles, unmatched and absolutely flawless.

I was up from my chair, I have never seen this lady skate in such a perfect way. It meant so much for her, the score of 73.98 points, could have been much higher if you ask me, the performance and execution of her elements, choreography and that superb interpretation, was spot on and untouched. My personal performance of the event so far, she deserves not only applause, but bows and standing ovations for this.

If she can deliver such a skate again in the Free, then there should be no other lady on 1 than her. To acknowledge and appreciate a skate can be the hardest if someone was better than your own hero as seen by the crowds reaction. Anna, I salute you and wish you the best of luck and a clean skate on Saturday!

If WC is not in the US this year, Anna may very well have won the SP.

I love this skater... finally the sort of uncalculated, powerful fierce presence, full on attack mode i love. Brave, bold, courageous in full bloom coming together instead of the sort of count down the clock / tick all the boxes / banking the scores smart COP skating the sport has become. Anna is skating raw, risky and the real deal... go Anna!!

I really hope she can deliver in the FS... i'd like Jenny Kirk eat a few humble pies on the latest TSL review :D

I don't want my hopes to go up so high, but I think she is very level headed. Her reaction was cool. She knows nothing is gained now. Thing is when Anna is on, she is on. Oftentimes she fails in both programs. But a good SP usually helps her. She is capable of a flawless LP, she proved it before. No matter where she ends up I think this is just the beginning of her rise. She certainly has it in her to be a gold medalist. I could even see her win the gold in 2018.

Scheherazade Anna will keep everyone from falling asleep with her awesome, powerful skating. Anna, concentrate hard and show them that you belong at the top. I believe in you and will send you good thoughts! :cheer:

I'm probably gonna get very nervous during the ladies' event, so well..I'll leave my cheering at this place.
I wish you all the best and get a medal or win! since the Worlds owe you a medal back in 2014 in my opinion.

Go fabulous!:cheer:

Anna please save this Worlds for me! I went through some heartbreaks yesterday and today so please slay!

I'm just sooooo happy for her! Congratulations :hap10: Great great programmes, she's so exciting to watch. Looking forward to seeing her Tango in a Madhouse at the Gala (but I kinda wish she could do Rise Like a Phoenix programme... )
