I unfortunately was sleeping through this competition due to staying up to watch Olympics...

But while watching through it, after Trusova's skate I thought that there was absolutely no way that Anya could win, even with a perfect skate. I figured she wouldn't even get 60 PCS and she needed to get 140 points to win...

But she had a skate like that! Got lvl 4 steps for the first time in her life and actually got the highest PCS here despite being underscored in PCS in every competition prior this season! And most importantly, she got the biggest applause and people got impatient and couldn't even wait until the end of the program, starting to clap too soon. Words can't describe how happy I am! :love:
That she actually beat both Trusova and Tarakanova is so good for the future! And this should guarantee her JGP spot, too!

Her landings were so silky smooth on everything, too... It was like a dream.

I've noticed that too. Loud applause even before the final pose, this is the connection with audience Daniil was talking about. :yes:

Congrats to Anya! Her next season's JGP chances grew rapidly today. :clapper:
 
Btw, I noticed by her protocols that she didn't jump 3Lz+3Lo in second half like she did before. I wonder why?
 
Today she should skate in Moscow's elder age championships. Now, I'm not sure if there is a starting list yet... But ladies should start at 16.15 Moscow time, or in around 4 more hours.

Hoping for clean skates and even victory!

It took me around 50 times until I could actually watch someone other than Anna. And once was enough... neither of them was even close to her!

You know, while classical and graceful style works really well for Anna I kind of hope that they eventually really branch out with something really out there, at least for the ex. I think that she could deliver even something crazy really well.

Now please Anna, clean skate in today's competition! :pray:
 
She really has been struggling with the SP this season - Most likely due to it being a new program. The rotation on the rest of the jumps wasn't amazing either even though they were fully around and she was a bit ahead of the music.

Still, very nice skate with everything considered! And I think the flip had a little bit more height than usual.

I hope she can skate a clean FS~

Same here. She is so talented, I could watch her dance/skate the whole day! I love her spaghetti arms in the video :laugh::luv17: I also wish they would give her choreo where she could bring out some innovative moves because it comes so naturally to her. Her new SP is very nice and she makes the best of it, when skated clean, but this classic style reminds me of Medvedeva, and I know Anna can do so much more.
 
Pure magic, don't forget that she was skating that at the age of 11. It was appropriate for a child, the music, the choreography , even the gestures. The costume was charming , especially with the spins when the pigtails and tassels rotated and twirled with her. The music was cheerful and appropriate to create a happy mood for a child. Her present free skate is exquisite for its grace and artistry. It is excellent technically but beyond that it is like watching dance or ballet on ice. She is a natural. It is the artistry , at such a young age , that gets me.
Also for me, her present SP is so mature. I hope she keeps fit .

Sorry puremagic. I wanted to post a reply to this post but forgot to include your quote. I wanted to say that the previous SP was appropriate for a child of 11 when Anna first skated to it. And it brought out the joyful movements of a child. I don't think the music is garbage but it is simple...folk music ...and the costume was charming with the flying tassels and pigtails which added to the charm. Even at that age with the stiff arm movements she had the wow factor I thought that was missing in many older excellent skaters. The present SP is of course far beyond the previous one . I love the way she uses her hands in this one . Dare I say it reminds me not only of ballet but Indian and Balinese dance gestures.
My post is now in the right place as the one I posted a few minutes ago has no context! I'm not contradicting you , by the way.
 
Her last SP - She looked very cute in the outfit and her hair also, that's true. And the smiling was of course nice, but... it didn't take advantage of her arms at all, she had to be with stiff arms in rather ugly positions for the choreo which just is a total waste.

This reminds me. I actually hope she gets some body suit for the next FS program. I know people will say "too sexy" or whatever(Come on --) but the dress really tends to be in the way - Make it pure black or something totally unsexy if necessary. Even her training videos tend to be amazing to watch because you can really see everything with her body, which you just cannot see and appreciate with a dress.

To be honest, I'd like to see some very insane modern techno dance-style program(with a body suit) because I think she would be able to pull it off really really well. It could really make her stand out. But of course, I'll be fine with anything... That takes proper advantage of her arms and upper body in choreo. I wouldn't mind seeing something like this just for an EX either, but I think it'd make for a really cool FS.
