....

And I still can't believe she skated like that in new boots...

This whole interview gave me insight into how it was, for example, that she skated that well in new boots. It's her whole approach, so systematic and problem-solving, one little step at a time. She already changes boots six times in a season, therefore, she knew how to cope with it in training; ergo ... there was no reason for it to bother her at the Olympics. Everything for her is broken down into experience, and she applies that into her thinking. I mean, as I type this it sounds rather prosaic, but actually I'm amazed. I found it interesting that as a child, she wasn't thinking about the Olympics at all -- just the next step: club championship, for instance, then the next. And that she loved to skate.

I finally found a video so I could re-watch her FS. I'm still angry on her behalf that nobody came to celebrate with her in the moment that she knew she won the Olympics. But really, the ultimate moment for every skater is how they feel right after the skate, were they pleased with the way they skated, or disappointed, or dazed or trying to make sense of it. I'm so glad Anna was very happy and had Daniil with her in those moments. :)

Thanks for that video. I love listening to the British lady commentator talking about how Anna was so on in her free skate.

Also seeing Anya jump up on the podium and then jump up smiling just like Alina did 4 years ago was wonderful.

Anna without question is one of the GOAT ladies of figure skating.

She can win more major titles she probably would have won worlds this year. Now we don't know when she will skate internationally again. I hope Anna can stay motivated but I would understand it if she does not. The same goes for Sasha and KV and the great pairs teams Russia has. They are only human after all and they are bred to compete at the highest level. If that is taken away from them who knows what they become.

I knew Anna loves skating so much that motivation to continue her carrier is not a problem.. it seem rather the opposite, thankfully... now the only question is when she will be able to add some more international titles... :scratch2:

New boots are so stiff and they always hurt the feet and ankles so it is a miracle that she won Olympic gold with new boots.

Anna has the personality and calm demeanor where she can just handle anything and skate well.
