Anna and Martin finished 5th out of 15 in the FS, with a score of 110.10. This meant that they climbed to 5th position overall, with a score of 168.52.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Golden Spin Of Zagreb, as I was concentrating on the Grand Prix Final and the final round of the Formula 1.

Looking at the Protocols, there were three elements with issues, but the Protocols only tell us what two of the issues were.

The second element, the Triple Salchow, was downgraded. It had ther third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.65, and because it already had the lowest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from six Judges; and -4 from Judge 2.

In the third element, the Double Axel-Single Axel-Double Axel done in sequence, the first Double Axel was landed on the quarter, and the second Double Axel was under-rotated. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.65, which meant that it went from having the biggest Base Value of he programme, to being the second highest scoring element of the programme. It actually got the exact same Judges marks as the previous element: -5 from six Judges; and -4 from Judge 2.

The sixth element, the Throw Triple Salchow, had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.41, which meant that it went from having the fourth lowest Base Value of the programme, to being the second lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -4 from two Judges; -3 from four Judges; and -2 from Judge 4.

The remaining elements had GOE ranging from +0.34 for the opening element, the Triple Twist, to +1.82 for the fourth element, the Axel Lasso Lift. The Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE ranged from 0 to +3.

Incidentally, the aforementioned Axel Lasso Lift had the joint second highest Base Value of the programme, which meant it became the highest scoring element of the programme. The other element with the joint second highest Base Value, the Reverse Lasso Lift that was the ninth element, had the second highest GOE of the programme, which ment that it became the second highest scoring element of the programme.

Anna and Martin finished the Free Skate 3.15 points behind 4th position, Oxana VOUILLAMOZ / Tom BOUVART (CHE), and 3.05 points ahead of 6th position, Irma CALDARA / Riccardo MAGLIO (ITA).

Overall, Anna and Martin finished 6.62 points behind 4th position, Aurélie FAULA / Théo BELLE (FRA), and 0.27 points ahead of 6th position, Caldara / Maglio.

Whilst it is not their highest set of scores this season, it is still a good set.

And we don't have long to wait until we see them in action again. They are back in action this coming weekend at Four Nationals, which this year is being held in Prešov, Slovakia.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Anna and Martin finished 3rd out of 3 in the SP, with a score of 62.30.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Four National Championships, as I was concentrating on the Spanish Championships.

Looking at the Protocols, there was only one issue, although the Protocols don't actually tell us what the issue was. This was with their second element, the Double Axel. It had the only GOE hit of the programme, at -0.74, and because it already had the joint lowest BAse Value of the programme, it became the lowest scoring element of the programme in it's own right. The Judges gave it two -3's; and four -2's.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.28 for the penultimate element, the Backwards Inside Death Spiral, to +1.75 for the fourth element, the Axel Lasso Lift. The aorementioned Axel Lasso Lift already had the highest Base Value of the programme, so it remained the highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE ranged from 0 to +3

Anna and Martin are currently 1.25 points behind 2nd position, Ioulia CHTCHETININA / Michał WOŹNIAK (POL), and 14.03 points behind 1st position, Maria PAVLOVA / Aleksei SVIATCHENKO (HUN).

Although Anna and Martin are in last position, this is actually their highest ever Short Programme score.

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Not only that, but they are in a very good position to upgrade their guaranteed 🥉 Bronze Medal to a 🥈 Silver Medal. But to help their chances of doing this, they need to have a good Free Skate

So, let's hope they do have a good Free Skate.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Senior Pairs FS is due to start at 15:55:00 CET (14:55:00 GMT). So 9 hours from now.

Anna and Martin finished 2nd out of 3 in the FS, with a score of 113.48. This meant that they climbed to 2nd position overall, with a score of 175.78.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Four National Championships, as I was concentrating on the Spanish Championships and the Lithuanian Championships.

Looking at the Protocols, they had three issues. But, funnily enough, we aren't told what the issue was for the most costly one.

The second element, the Triple Salchow, was downgraded, and there was a fall. It actually had the smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.65, and because it already had the lowest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the lowest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all seven Judges.

In the third element, the Double Axel-Single Axel-Double Axel done in sequence, the final Double Axel was landed on the quarter. It had the second biggewst GOE hit of the programme, at -0.86, which meant that it went from having the highest Base Value of the programme, to being the second highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it four -3's; and three -2's.

The sixth element, the Throw Triple Salchow, had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.23. This meant it went from having the fourth lowest Base value of the programme, to being the second lowest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it five -3's; and two -2's.

For the remaining elements, teh GOE ranged from +0.48 for the fifth element, the Throw Double Lutz, to +1.82 for the fourth element, the Axel Lasso Lift. Apart from a -1 from Judge 7 and a 0 from Judge 6 which were both for the sixth element, the Backwards Outside Death Spiral, all the Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE were in the +1 to +3 range.

Incidentally, the aforementioned Axel Lasso Lift had the joint second highest Base Value of the programme, which meant it became the highest scoring element of the programme. The other element with the joint second highest Base Value, the Reverse Lasso Lift that was the ninth element, had the second highest GOE of the programme, at +1.40, which ment that it became the second highest scoring element of the programme.

Anna and Martin finished the Free Skate 23.96 points behind 1st position, Maria PAVLOVA / Aleksei SVIATCHENKO (HUN), and 6.66 points ahead of 3rd position, Ioulia CHTCHETININA / Michał WOŹNIAK (POL).

Overall, Anna and Martin finished 37.99 points behind 1st position, Pavlova / Sviatchenko, and 5.41 points ahead of 3rd position, Chtchetinina / Woźniak.

Well, they did what they needed to. And although it wasn't their Absolute PB for either the FS or overall, it was their second highest ever scores in both. Add to that their third highest ever score in the SP, and I think you could say this was a fruitful Nationals for them.

Now they can put their focus into preparing for the European Championships. (I didn't realise they were quite as early as they are! :drama: Exactly 1 month away. Pesky Olympics, messing up the season!)

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Anna and Martin finished 12th out of 16 in the SP, with a score of 53.80.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

Here is what I wrote when they were being introduced:

And here is what I wrote about the programme:

With only 2 partnerships before the first resurfacing, a lot of the members commenting hadn't arrived yet. The first comment that I think was about them came from @EdgeCall, who said:

Admin and the person who so kindly and expertly makes the competition threads for the ISU run events @dorispulaski was doing Play-By-Plays at this stage:

Our bastion of positivity, @Jeanie19, was on form:

My fellow British member, @FlossieH, was realistic:

While Czech member @flanker wasn't messing about and got straight to the point:

Polish member @Ares highlighted both sides of the skate:

German member @Jumping_Bean was concerned about Anna, and also saw the irony of what the partnership representing Armenia withdrawing resulted in:

Anna and Martin are currently 0.85 points behind 11th position, Gabriella IZZO / Luc MAIERHOFER (AUT), and 0.14 points ahead of 13th position, Aurélie FAULA / Théo BELLE (FRA). The three partnerships are the top three partnerships in a group of 4 partnerships covered by 1.36 points, which is completed by Irma CALDARA / Riccardo MAGLIO (ITA) in 14th position, 0.51 points behind Anna and Martin.

Anna and Martin are in a very tight battle. Any of the four partnerships can finish in any of the four positions. Also, if any of them have a particularly good Free Skate and break out of the group, they could even climb further.

So, let's hope that Anna and Martin have a good Free Skate and can climb!

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Senior Pairs FS is due to start at 19:00:00 GMT (20:00:00 CET). So 11 hours from now.

Anna and Martin will be the 5th partnership to start. So, first partnership to go in Group 2.

The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 19:38:10 GMT (20:38:10 CET). So 11h 38m from now.

Anna and Martin are due to start at 19:45:40 GMT (20:45:40 CET). So 11h 45m from now.

Anna and Martin finished 7th out of 16 in the FS, with a score of 113.62. This meant that they climbed to 9th position overall, with a score of 167.42.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

And here is what I wrote about their programme:

At the start of the Warm-Up, my good friend in Sicily, @elektra blue, commented:

To which I replied (she considers herself as Auntie to my kids, and I consider myself as Uncle to her kids):

To which she replied:

To which I replied:

To which she replied:

Well, I think that's just about covered all bases. Enough of that silliness. Let's get back to the skating talk.

Hungarian member @sissy7 asked:

And Italian member @bartlebooth answered:

When they were about to start, @elektra blue put this up (which is what I was referring to at the start of my post about the programme):

To which @Seven Sisters replied:

Meanwhile @sissy7 said:

German member @DemTuppesSeine was impressed:

And so was @elektra blue:

@Sabsi went further:

And @DemTuppesSeine agreed:

Our bastion of positivity @Jeanie19 liked it too:

@DemTuppesSeine commented about Anna:

While @norwegianfairytale commented similar about both of them:

@sissy7 did too, but before that said what we were all thinking about them in the context of the competition as a whole:

After the scores came through, @Sabsi commented:

And then added about Anna:

And finally @skylark commented about the music:

Anna and Martin finished the Free Skate 1.29 points behind 6th position, Rebecca GHILARDI / Filippo AMBROSINI (ITA), and 1.71 points ahead of 8th position, Ioulia CHTCHETININA / Michał WOŹNIAK (POL).

Overall, Anna and Martin finished 1.42 points behind 8th position, Chtchetinina / Woźniak, and 2.33 points ahead of 10th position, Camille MENDOZA / Pavel KOVALEV (FRA).

Finishing 9th in their first Major championship pretty nearly a year to the day after the partnership was announced. No wonder they were so happy!

We knew right from when they got onto the podium at their first competition together that this was going to be a good partnership. But, with a year under their belt, they are really showing us now just how much potential they have.

I have a feeling that this coming quad is going to be very successful for them.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Anna and Martin finished 20th out of 21 in the SP, with a score of 56.58.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

Here is what I wrote when they were being introduced:

And here is what I wrote about the programme:

The first comment came from my good friend in Sicily, @elektra blue, who just said two words:

I take it that American member @moonvine doesn't like "Clair De Lune" as much as I do:

We then got some real-time reactions to Anna's fall:

After they finished, @EdgeCall added:

Not-the-band @cocteautwin was focussing on the good things:

As was our bastion of positivity, @Jeanie19:

Hungarian member @sissy7 was thinking the same as I was for much of the competition:

@skylark was full of praise:

My fellow British member @Ruthypegs was also impressed:

After they got their scores, @EdgeCall came back and comfirmed that they were outside the qualifying positions at this stage:

Later on after Katie McBEATH / Daniil PARKMAN (USA) skated , @Ruthypegs commented:

And then Daria DANILOVA / Michel TSIBA (NED) had their disappointing skate. And my Norwegian friend, @norwegianfairytale, comented:

To which I replied:

And @cocteautwin summed up the situation with this:

Anna and Martin are currently 1.64 points behind 19th position, Gabriella IZZO / Luc MAIERHOFER (AUT), and 7.81 points ahead of 20th position, Daria DANILOVA / Michel TSIBA (NED). Anna and Martin are the bottom partnership in a group of 17 partnerships covered by 13.34 points, stretching up to Maria PAVLOVA / Alexei SVIATCHENKO (HUN) in 4th position.

That was using my usual guide of using 2.00 point gaps to define groups. If I cut it down to 1.75 point gaps, then Anna and Martin are the bottom partnership in a group of 4 partnerships covered by 2.27 points, stretching up to Sofiia HOLICHENKO / Artem DARENSKYI (UKR) in 17th position..

As only the Top 20 go through to the Free Skate, Daria and Michel have been knocked out, which means that Anna and Martin are the first of the partnerships to qualify for the Free Skate. There is nobody behind them, so they can really go all out and concentrate on trying to get to the top of their group.

So, let's hope that Anna and Martin have a good Free Skate and can climb!

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Senior Pairs FS is due to start at 18:15:00 CET (17:15:00 CET). So 10 hours from now.

Anna and Martin will be the 1st partnership to start. So, first partnership to go in Group 1.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 18:15:00 CET (17:15:00 CET). So 10 hours from now.

Anna and Martin are due to start at 18:22:20 CET (17:22:20 CET). So 10h 7m from now.

Anna and Martin finished 13th out of 20 in the FS, with a score of 113.88. This meant that they climbed to 15th position overall, with a score of 170.46.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

And here is what I wrote about their programme:

There is a regular post that I always put up as soon as I hear the first notes of "Le Temps Des Cathédrales". But because it was my kids, I wasn't able to. Fortunately, @4everchan in Canada did a post along the same lines:

After they finished, he followed up with this reccomendation to the ISU:

@EdgeCall enjoyed them, and pointed out that the audience did too:

Not-the-band @cocteautwin did as well:

@Seven Sisters said something that I have been thinking too, but was scared of saying out loud, in case it jinxed them:

To which @4everchan replied:

I take it he was referring to their coach, Ondřej Hotárek, and his former Pairs partners Stefania Berton and Valentina Marchei. (Or maybe he was referring to Ondřej and his wife, Ice Dancer Anna Cappellini).

Czech member @flanker was delighted:

While my good friend in Sicily @elektra blue commented about the reaction of the Italian half of the partnership:

To which @flanker replied:

So true!

Our bastion of positivity @Jeanie19 was even more positive than usual:

@maofan was another that was delighted:

Anna's compatriot @bartlebooth was impressed:

My fellow British member @FlossieH echoed some of the previous comments:

@EdgeCall came back to point out the significance of the score:

@SubRosa said out loud what we all are thinking:

And for the last post before moving on to the next partnership, @maofan came back and commented about the reaction to the scores:

My fellow British member @Ruthypegs was slightly behind, and commented this after the following partnership:

Hungarian member @sissy7 was eating while watching Group 1, but posted about the partnerships when finished eating:

Anna and Martin finished the Free Skate 1.30 points behind 12th position, Katie McBEATH / Daniil PARKMAN (USA), and 1.49 points ahead of 14th position, Gabriella IZZO / Luc MAIERHOFER (AUT).

Overall, Anna and Martin finished 0.15 points behind 14th position, Izzo / Maierhofer, and 0.55 points ahead of 16th position, Emily CHAN / Spencer Akira HOWE (USA). The three of them are the top three partnerships in a group of 6 partnerships covered by 2.86 points, stretching down to Kelly Ann LAURIN / Loucas ÉTHIER (CAN) in 19th position, 2.71 points behind Anna and Martin.

After the mistake in the Short Programme that resulted in them being first to go in the Free Skate, what a recovery! But, we already knew that they are too good to stay at the bottom.

In their short time together, Anna and Martin have never failed to impress. Like, they have only been together for just over a year, and they are already this good! With more time and experience together, I can see them becoming a real force in European Pairs skating.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:
