Any Sasha updates?

``Sometimes it's great, (but) the injuries and equipment problems have been a nightmare for me, very stressful,'' she said. ``I have been just putting one foot in front of the other no matter how hard it has been, and it has been paying off now. It has been a very frustrating Fall, and it's nice to be skating well again. The difference is amazing.''

This seems to me confirmation that she withdraw from her two GP events in part because she just was not ready. This is the first I heard of equipment problems (i guess boots?) and the most frustrated she has sounded in a while. I hope that she is speaking the truth when she says that things are going better now.

I don't anyone is surprised that she won't be trying a 3/3. I really don't think she needs it for nationals.

I know it will make people upset if she shows, but I'm excited with the possibility of her return:love: , I also wish her the best of luck and am hoping for fall free programs from her(and all the rest of the girls competing) I want those judges to work and not have an easy time picking a winner. I also selfishly want to see everyones programs the way they were intended...fall free:biggrin:

wishing everyone the best of luck. May the best skaters make it to the Olympics:clap:

I can't wait for Nationals!

I don't think that anyone will be upset if she shows up and competes. It would be a great sight to see and it would presumably force everyone to improve, albeit in the very short term, and skate better. Even if she competes, falls and does poorly, the attention she would garner would help other skaters get some attention themselves. I think people will only be upset if, after all of the hype of her competing at Nationals, she doesn't.

And like you, I'm hoping she does compete and that she, and everyone else, does well!

I heard during she was advertising peptobismol that she changed three pairs of boots this season though.

I only saw the last part of the feature. Sasha was on the ice teaching Meredith some stretching exercises and how to do a spiral. If I remember correctly, the last time Meredith did an ice skating segment it was with Jon Heder promoting "Blades of Glory." They tried a pairs move, Meredith fell hard and broke a tooth.

This time she will just have a sore leg from Sasha trying to lift and stretch it.

Sasha looked amazing. She can still do that 180 degree split both standing still and in full spiral.

She seemed committed to Spokane, no question.

Sasha whyyy??? Don't get me wrong, good for her, but I was really hoping to see more than one US lady who has actually been on the competitive scene these past few years be on the Olympic team! If only we had 3 spots :frown2:

Oh well, she still might withdraw, or not do well enough to make it. I'm sure her PCS scores will be HUGE though. I hope they call her out on her flutz if she still has it, otherwise she'll get hammerd for it at the Olys.

Have you always been such a big Sasha fan? :)

Haha. I actually used to like Sasha quite a bit, but her time has passed. I'm also generally a bigger fan of the more athletic skaters (I'm a gymnast, like the girls who look and jump like athletes) like Kimmie, Miki, Yuna, and Joannie. Those are probably my top 4 favorites, but now that Kimmie is gone, I've become a Mirai fan. She's grown up into more of an athletic skater. I really like Akiko too :agree:

If we had 3 spots, I wouldn't be so upset, I just really want to see two of Rachael, Ashley, Alissa, Mirai, Caroline and possibly a SS like Christina or Angela compete at the Olympics. Plus I don't see why Sasha wants to embarrass herself as her chances of winning OGM are basically none, and even medaling are probably slim. Yuna, Mao, and Miki are phenoms. Joannie and Akiko are great athletes and competitors. Kostner is also capable of greatness. Sasha is probably looking at 6th place or lower if she makes the team.

Hey! Doesn't anyone else understand the "old bag" syndrome i'm talking about. Fumie is 27 and seems blah now, Sasha is 25 and I feel like if she gets sent to the Olympics unfairly she'll be the same way. I feel like she was at her prime at 21, and now it might be downhill, but the USFSA will just ignore it.

I don't know if this has been posted yet but Sasha is listed as a guest on NBC Today show for this morning!

Read the articles about Sasha stating she will be at Nationals! This does my heart good. And if she manages to do the impossible (which I wouldn't doubt for a second), I think she owes at least some of it to one particular fan at SashaFans (which I read occasionally, but don't post, as is my custom for all sites except GS). He has stood by her side steadfast & true, one of him is worth a million of the fairweather kind.

John Nicks? I imagine they must have an interesting relationship.

How was Meredith's spiral? If Sasha tried to teach me to do one, it would probably kill me.

She managed to get her leg up about 45 degrees off the ice, on the flat with Sasha skating backward holding both her hands. :) Matt wasn't impressed. :)

Save this post and see if you change your mind ten years from now.
