Baby Moose!

Cute moose!

Around here we have pigeons. I think you win.

Though...yesterday, I saw some people in town with a chow puppy. Adult chows are beautiful, majestic dogs (with blue tongues, like polar bears!). But this baby chow was hysterical. It was a miniature size, of course, but with that puppy softness. Its rust-colored fur stood straight up like dandelion fluff. I wanted to stop and get acquainted, but it was surrounded by its people, and I didn't want to intrude. Such a sweetpea.

We have pigeons, too, but you're right baby moose are cuter! Chow dogs are beautiful. My neice's mom has one, but Pawny's getting older :( Haille's really worried about when her mom will have to put the dog down. Pawn-pawn's such a sweetie.

That's the downside to having beloved animals around. Their life spans are shorter, and we have to say goodbye a lot. With me it's been cats. I suppose one could keep parrots, who live so long that someone might leave you one in his will, but they're cold comfort compared to a dog or a cat. Yesterday I met another puppy, a Sheltie being taken for a promenade by his person. When my friends and I stopped to say hello, he looked up at us dubiously and promptly sat on his person's feet. I'm not sure whether he was protecting his person or using him as a sheltering barricade, but either way we were entranced. We're so lucky that animals consent to have us humans around! We'd be in deep trouble if we were the only species we knew. We'd have no patience and would be far more self-centered—not to mention a lot lonelier.

Thanks, Toni.

It's sweltering here, and getting to see a moosekin and a sheep refreshes the mind. It reminds me that everything in the world isn't made of concrete and asphalt.
